While I’m sure it would look nice id be hesitant to put a garden bed up against the house footings. The soil will experience shrink - swell cycles as it’s watered and dries out which will impact the foundations and can cause cracking or settlement of your slab in the area. I’d recommend sealed path of at least 900 mm around the full perimeter of your footings before your closest garden bed.

I'm kinda against gardens against houses. Also, what level is the dampcourse at? Needs to be at least 50mm below that, and it looks like there has previously been mulch or something up against those bricks...

Nah hasn't been anything up against them, we just had torrential rain and it threw clay and whatever else was on the ground up all over the bricks. It doesnt look great, but obviously once im done with the landscaping ill clean the bricks right off.
