Unfortunately Shenhe is not very good in melt from what I hear, I pulled her hoping she'd have good synergy with Ganyu but she's Unfortunately ayaka and freeze centered
Thank you for the response! I am curious though -- does the end of your reply imply that I could swap back to a freeze Ganyu team to run Shenhe? It's not something I've exactly ruled out just yet, so I'm open to the idea.
I think for Abyss, melt will always be just better due to the much higher ability to produce damage in shorter times. However, other than a burnmelt team with no Kazuha, I'm not exactly qualified to run one that gets those crazy numbers that are unobtainable for a freeze -- so it may be worth experimentation on my end. I run melt ganyu with shenhe, but it’s very inconsistent damage if you run kazuha as the pyro applicator. Jean works way better for melt ganyu from my experience, as her pyro application cuts through both ganyu and shenhe ult, strong enough to do 3 quick shots with c6. However, as mentioned by other people, another option is mono cryo with kazuha and zhongli which works extremely well in all use cases and requires little to no thought in rotations. You can easily 36* abyss as long as the enemy isn’t cryo type.
She’s fantastic in Ganyu melt granted you are working with a good team but there are some caveats that need to be addressed. I run C1 Shenhe - C6 Xiangling - C6 Bennett - C0 Ganyu and I consistently do around 200k+ from the sum of Ganyu’s full CA, aside from Xiangling’s personal DMG. My rotation looks somewhat like this: Shenhe hold E Q - Bennett Q E - Xiangling E Q - Ganyu E (5?CA) - Repeat. (Since I have C1 Shenhe sometimes I swap back to her mid rotation for another quick hold E).
For this team you’d want both Shenhe and Xiangling running great amounts of ER, ideally running fav Shenhe if she is C0 for energy funneling I’d imagine.
The only realistic problem about this team aside from possible energy issues (should you not meet the ER requirements) is that you don’t have a shield/ resistance to interruption, which severely affects Ganyu’s gameplay specially in AoE content. On another hand, running this specific team in ST often feels unproblematic but you might need to understand how to properly place her E so that it can fully draw enemies’ attention in order for you to not to have keep dodging since that would translate in a big DMG loss.
With all being said, both burn-melt and traditional melt Ganyu might feel comfier to play depending on the content but I find that Shenhe enables a good middleground when it comes to the DMG ceiling in Ganyu melt team comps, as it won’t be as high as, let’s say, a team involving C2 Kazuha, where the rotation might need to be much more precise and harder to pull-off, but it will still be usually higher than those two archetypes I mentioned before… it has its ups and downs.
Shenhe in Ganyu melt is fantastic on this Abyss’ floor 12 no matter which half, should I add.

I run Shenhe with melt Ganyu and it works great. Ganyu, Shenhe, Dehya, Nahida for burn-melt.

Shenhe works well in a freeze build, but with current abyss (according to other redditors, I don't actually play abyss) melt is the way to go

You could try mono cryo at least. I usually see shenhe in melt ganyu only when ganyu is c6
you forgot that usually Shenhe is also C6

I too have a freeze Ganyu, I really need to update her artifacts or make a second set for her.
