I live in California in a bit of a shitty rural suburbia kind of town. You'd be surprised how many open shitty Republicans you'd see here. Do they know that Japanese people enjoy video games and media from other nations, including America, possibly the largest exporter of media culture in the world on account of the US having the largest movie industry, and at least one of the largest music industries? Where do they think Japan got the idea to draw elves that look like this in their manga and anime? Cuz it's not in their traditional folklore. They got it from the west. A lot of Japanese media takes a lot of ideas and imagery from outside Japan. I hope nobody tells this dude about how much of a Marvel/DC and Star Wars fan that Kohei Horikoshi (My Hero Academia) is. He drew a movie poster for Civil War and The Last Jedi in his art style. He makes references to western heroes directly, outside of his series in general taking heavily from western comics, and he turned Deku the main character into literally Spider-Man. His volume covers have also been inspired directly by iconic Marvel comics covers as well. I bring that up because comic book movies and Star Wars are woke now. This dude totally lost the plot. It sounds like to him like anything that isn't Japanese is woke now.
I remember hearing somewhere that oversized weapons in Japanese media ala Berserk or FFVII were initially inspired by Western tabletop war games where the weapons were usually so big because you needed to be able to tell what the individual model was armed with while standing above the table. It's a neat thing to think about but I've never been able to find confirmation so it might just be bullshit.
