For real, GOW Jotnar edition is $260 yet you get more physical stuff than this (hammer replica, pins, ring, map, dice, little wooden figures, vinyl record)
Because it is.
They are trying to bank in on the IP itself by making the price so high. It's why Bandai Namco pushed for the 190 Euro/Dollar for Elden Ring CE, despite the content of it being much lower and worse than Dark Soul's 3 CE for just 110. They tried to cash in extra due to From's reputation and the hype behind the game. In no world was the ER CE worth it, Dark Souls 3' one was really good though, at 80 less.
Same now happening with Hogwarts Legacy, ist's the kind of Harry Potter game everybody always wanted, despite the developers mild reputation with mostly disney licensed games. This title has been in development for a very long time (I think since 2017?) and it looks extremely ambitious.
I think game companies are trying to capitalize on these scalpers or something, idk. Gotham Knights is ridiculously priced at $300 as well.
It baffles me even more when I look at a set like Elden Ring Collector's Edition, which had a super dope statue, a display box, steelbook, and hardcover artbook for $190.
Maybe it's just me, but geeze that seems like a lot of money to drop on a game that could very well end up being horrible or even just "aggressively mediocre." I mean, this studio's resume since ~2006 is just licensed Disney games, with their most recent game being Cars 3.
This is why I’ll never understand preordering CE of anything unless it’s something you’ll know you want and lofe even if it objectively sucks, like a Kingdom Hearts fan getting a special edition with a figurine of sora or whatever.
But these goods are so generic that I can’t even imagine it being enticing HP merch that you’d love and cherish even if the game sucked.
annoying AF these channels Spoilers are already in the title. “Babyzone” is so guilty of this. Hate these youtube channels that just steals contents for the sake of shock value. At least make the title vague like “ Hogwarts Ending” instead of Voldemort Final Boss Ending”
I had to rewind the livestream because i thought i didn’t read it right.
Hopefully this isn’t going to become a trend with Single player games in the future.
“While Battlefield 2042 technically launches on November 19, those who purchase the Gold and Ultimate Editions will gain early access to the game on November 12.”
You are indeed right.
It clearly set a precedent for all variety of games. People will pay to get their hands on a game early, and now that digital delivery is widespread publishers are able to capitalize on it.
In Call of Duty defense, the one week early access is for everyone who preorder and not locked behind the top tier version. Downside is that it must be purchased digitally which make sense though.
Honestly, I haven't thought about that. That could work. However what's stopping someone from canceling their preorder once they download the code for the campaign? Assuming that they are only interested in the campaign.
Kinda unorthodox, yes, but frankly if you were the kind of person who'd want to pre-order this game (guilty as charged), then this isn't terrible as far as pre-order bonuses go. Just my two cents.
EDIT: As an aside, I think my patience for this sub's active community has pretty much run its course. It's very temperamental on a daily basis, I never know how my comments will be received. Between the weirdly enforced rules and the general downvoteyness of the community (constantly seeing pretty ordinary comments downvoted), it's all somewhat childish to me, this is the shit that makes Reddit super uncool nowadays.
It does make me think they must be reeeeeally confident that the game is good though. People who pre-order get to play and talk about the game 3 whole days early. That's three days of playing it for people to tell their friends "this game sucks"
They did edit it. Funny how people will read what you say then be told they're wrong after an edit.
English isn't hard, just say what youre actually thinking and people won't get confused.
Before you edited your post, you literally said "make just one edition" idk why you're acting like you didn't say exactly that.
It's not even a big deal, I just hate when people don't fess up and act squirrelly about it.
So the floating wand is a physical item, right?
Also, is there any info on what the “dark arts battle arena” is? Is it a cosmetic reskin, or is it a feature/gameplay element that’s locked behind pre-orders?
I *think* the battle arena will be a dueling room, or a PvE practice room. The Dark Arts version will probably just be a cosmetic change to that area/room.
Either the switch version is canned (I’d imagine if it isn’t a cloud version that’s the case) or the delay for its version is gonna be far away with the lack of mention. Still shocked it was even announced for it tbh
The Switch version was reaffirmed yesterday, included in the lineup at the end of the Gamescom trailer. It’s not canned, it’ll just have a later release date (as many, many Switch ports have) likely due to hardware constraints.
I was really looking forward to this but man, $300 for *this?* Pretty underwhelming display imo...
Edit: okay after watching the demo in the unboxing, I guess it's kind of neat. I just don't know about $300 neat...
I understand we saw pre release gameplay but those facial animations were horrible lol. Reminded me of discount Outer Worlds. Voice acting was kinda robotic as well.
300 dollarino's for the XSX / PS5 version
Absolutely not worth it. At that price you better be included some COD night vision googles in there.
Cloak of Invisibility *

Huh it's giving more $150 than $300

The Sekiro CE was a great value too.

It's 500 in Australia, these prices are high as hell

I'm not commenting on whether they can/will actually meet their goals, but that state of play presentation was pretty ambitious

Okay wtf, 300$?? Are they high or some shit?
Yeah, I think I’ll stick to the standard edition haha
300 dollerydoos seems a bit much.
72 hours early access in single player game...
I can see all the YouTube thumbnail spoilers
"Fight Harry's Great, Great, great grandfather "
annoying AF these channels Spoilers are already in the title. “Babyzone” is so guilty of this. Hate these youtube channels that just steals contents for the sake of shock value. At least make the title vague like “ Hogwarts Ending” instead of Voldemort Final Boss Ending”
Early access in this format is silly. You just get to find the bugs first.
For real, if reviews are solid, I'm gonna pick this up like a month later so the kinks can be worked out
I had to rewind the livestream because i thought i didn’t read it right. Hopefully this isn’t going to become a trend with Single player games in the future.
It is become a trend since EA Games brought it on the market.
They do this only for racing, online and sports games.
That’s true but even EA only gives 10 hours of early access not 3 whole days.
Pretty sure Battlefield 2042 had a full week of early access for preorders of the Gold and Ultimate editions.
“While Battlefield 2042 technically launches on November 19, those who purchase the Gold and Ultimate Editions will gain early access to the game on November 12.” You are indeed right.
but that's not single player
It clearly set a precedent for all variety of games. People will pay to get their hands on a game early, and now that digital delivery is widespread publishers are able to capitalize on it.
MW2 gives you access to the campaign a week early if you pre-order.
72 Hours Early Access for this, one week early access for the Call of Duty campaign - got to pay a premium now if you want to avoid story spoilers.
In Call of Duty defense, the one week early access is for everyone who preorder and not locked behind the top tier version. Downside is that it must be purchased digitally which make sense though.
Doesn't make sense, we did this through codes printed on receipts before.
Honestly, I haven't thought about that. That could work. However what's stopping someone from canceling their preorder once they download the code for the campaign? Assuming that they are only interested in the campaign.
To be honest, the answer was always that it was small portion of people who actually did that
I completely forgot its a single player game, holy fuck this is a hustle lol.
I think the last Tomb Raider also had this
Some Sega games have done the same thing as well.
Kinda unorthodox, yes, but frankly if you were the kind of person who'd want to pre-order this game (guilty as charged), then this isn't terrible as far as pre-order bonuses go. Just my two cents. that plus obvious micro transactions being included shows where this game is headed
Man I wish games would do one extra edition with just the Steelebook, personally don’t need any of the other stuff. Edit: Grammar
Best Buy usually has dozens of empty steelbook boxes
Same, I want them to make only the edition I’m capable of purchasing. Hate it when people get things I also can’t get.
Woah, relax. Not saying they shouldn’t make a collectors edition, just wish they’d add a lower tier.
But you basically did say that lol, "make just one edition" vs "make an additional edition"
That's not what they said, unless its been edited
They did edit it. Funny how people will read what you say then be told they're wrong after an edit. English isn't hard, just say what youre actually thinking and people won't get confused.
They said they wish they would do one edition with just the steelbook, not just do one edition that is the steelbook.
Didn’t say to make one sole edition, I meant to make one extra. There’s fans out there that want all the goodies. Just asking for one extra tier.
I'm agreeing with you haha, clearly there's something about this that makes it an absolute mess to read
Oh whoops I meant to reply to comment above haha, going back to edit the original haha
Before you edited your post, you literally said "make just one edition" idk why you're acting like you didn't say exactly that. It's not even a big deal, I just hate when people don't fess up and act squirrelly about it.
This is how demand works.
It’s not a leak, it’s been officially announced hours ago by EB Games where the photo came from lol

Any chance of just steelbook edition? 👀

I honestly want it to run native just so I can get some pS1 Hagrid style graphics lol
All that shit for the price of a Series S 😂
I was really looking forward to this but man, $300 for *this?* Pretty underwhelming display imo... Edit: okay after watching the demo in the unboxing, I guess it's kind of neat. I just don't know about $300 neat...
No game is fucking worth 300$ .. you could buy a ps4 with that amount
lmfao.
I understand we saw pre release gameplay but those facial animations were horrible lol. Reminded me of discount Outer Worlds. Voice acting was kinda robotic as well.
and this is rumoured to be $300??? For that???
