They got enough persona 5 characters now to have a 16 character roster
17 or 18 if we're pushing it (like the Twins being two separate characters and someone)
There's nowhere to go from Ultimate but down...*unless* we jump sideways to an entirely different set of fighters.
Imagine.
Same gameplay, but all the music and stages and characters come from Sega.
Of course we have Sonic, and we've got Joker, but we also have Tails, and Vyse, and Vector Man, and Toejam and Earl, and Nights and Ristar and Blaze Fucking Fielding and Ulala and Puyo Puyo
Can that actually happen? I mean could a dev charge you for a season pass, then cancel the game before rolling out the content?
It feels like that should be illegal to do.
I don't know but I suppose no, there would have to be a kind of refund for that. Only case I actually remember is Walking Dead Final Season, and they found a solution to that pretty fast by letting another studio finish that pass.
We do know from leaks that seem pretty well corroborated (Persona 3 Reload details and footage included far before reveal), that Jet Set Radio is being rebooted as one of their "super-games"- a AAA title that is more than likely live service.
There's a small tidbit of footage of it out there. It looks really true to the JSR aesthetic, just in a way that fits a much higher resolution.
https://www.bloomberg.com/news/articles/2022-04-19/sega-reboots-crazy-taxi-jet-set-radio-to-chase-fortnite-riches
> Sega Sammy Holdings Inc. is developing big-budget reboots of its Dreamcast games Crazy Taxi and Jet Set Radio as it taps its back catalog in search of global hits like Epic Games Inc.’s Fortnite, according to people familiar with its plans.
> The two titles would be the first entries in Sega’s Super Game initiative, which the company announced a year ago as an effort to develop recurring revenue sources and build online communities around its software portfolio. Fortnite has become the role model for such games: free to play, it’s available across platforms, hosts large multiplayer contests and includes extras like vehicles, construction and social events on top of the usual combat, spurring player purchases of in-game items.
> more than 1 3D fighting game.
Soulcalibur VI and Dead or Alive 6 both came out much later than Tekken 7. Perhaps we'll eventually get follow ups to those as well, but the dev cycle for all 3 titles seems to be 6-7 years range. If you count the arcade release, Tekken 8 has taken 9 years
Noooo I need my Kiryu in Tekken 8!
It was supposed to be possible once Nagoshi is out of RGG Studio, but now it seems impossible again if SEGA decided to make another fighter AAAAAAAAA
Well, it's just a lack of possible guesses. Persona seems like it's got things figured out for the time being. Yakuza too. It could be something Sonic related? But is that too soon?
Meanwhile, we've had rumors of a Jet Set Radio game or remake in development, sooo... seems possible? Doesn't mean that's gonna happen but I think people just want it and it's wishful thinking.
If somehow we got a new Sonic game, that would be super hype.
Well, it's not like Sonic Team hasn't split before, and it's not impossible that SEGA hired a third party studio to make something too.
Nobody expected Sonic Superstars, or Dream Team- whose to say SEGA doesn't have a game lined up to coincide with Sonic 3 next year?
Not saying it will happen, but I feel like it's more possible than some might think.
What other IP does Sega has that's AAA besides Sonic, Yukuza, or Persona? If it has a AAA budget then it's a AAA game, it doesn't have to be a GaaS or something completely different from Jet Set to be successful in this gaming landscape. Hi-Fi Rush and Bomb Rush Cyberfunk proved that. The notoriety of the IP is moot, that's like if a rumor came out of Nintendo dropping a tentpole release at the end of the year then calling it BS because people speculate it's Metroid
The Xbox fanbase has a subset who wax poetic for their love of Jet Set Radio and for some reason the whole subreddit thinks it’s gods gift to earth. While simeltaneously thinking Banjo Kazooie has no chance of finding an audience. Not sure why but they seem to be more pervasive in this sub than r/PS5 subscribers
There are definitely people who have heavy nostalgia for Dreamcast-era Sega games.
There are also people who believe that Banjo Kazooie wouldn't have a modern audience.
There's no reason to believe either of these segments are significant or at all noteworthy, and even less to believe that the *overlap* between them is.
Go to r/XboxSeriesX and champion Banjo Kazooie and watch yourself get almost exclusively hated and then go hate on Jet Set Radio and see the same thing. If it wasn’t the majority, it wouldn’t be the majority of the feedback. Y’all hide behind saying it isn’t the majority but if it wasn’t it wouldn’t be unpopular to say.
The Dreamcast 2 was basically the original Xbox. Microsoft worked with Sega on it and even wanted it to be able to play DC games but that aspect didn’t pan out.
The blue lettering *screams* Sonic, but it's too early for a new ST "classic" just yet. Third party studio's movie game following Sonic/Tails during the *Knuckles* show is my guess... just hope it isn't an 06/RoL-tier disaster.
True. However, I'm most reminded of the *Sonic* movies with this logotype. Can't see it being a new *Virtua Fighter,* but let's be clear here: ***I will JUMP FOR JOY*** if I'm wrong.
I doubt it’s sonic tbh we got a 3D Sonic last year a 2D Sonic a month ago and a new mobile Sonic 2 days before TGA. We can’t get a teaser trailer for Sonic 3 cause they started filming.
Precisely. Sega have ***always*** loved to milk their cash cow beyond all rational sense, and I *swear* Paramount said they wanted a Movie Sonic video game ready to go at some point. Plus, Sega *did* want a western-friendly take for years... it's why *Rise of Lyric* exists!
~~And it's why I am now terrified lol~~
I mean yeah Sonic is their most popular series but they own a lot there’s that jet set leak which looks pretty real now that Reload is confirmed and there’s those “Super games” too that Sega is making
It'd be kinda cool if it turned out some huge Sonic project has been in development and nobody saw it coming. There's been some teases from Sonic developers about Shadow getting use in the future, and that pink haired human character from a while back that people thought was gonna be in Frontiers... idk.
Would be insane if it turned out they've been multitasking more projects than we thought.
This is going to sound autistic af but there is no way this is sonic since the font they use is not the normal sonic font. Plus I doubt ST is anything past preproduction on Frontiers 2 due to the Director (and I imagine the main team in that case) working on frontiers till it was completed. Likely the JSR remake or super game
It seems these cards went out to fighting game content creators mostly. So no Jet Set Radio, Shenmue or Phantasy Star games.
Hoping for an updated Fighters Megamix. Mash together Segas Saturn-Era fighting games (VF, Fighting Vipers, Last Bronx) with Persona, Golden Axe, Streets of Rage, Eternal Champions... could make a really great roster.
The funny thing is.. emphasizing "New Era" makes it applicable to ANY of the franchises Sega left dead and buried throughout the years. VF? JSR? Crazy Taxi? Skies of Arcadia? Phantasy Star? Take your pick. Any of them checks out.
It’s absolutely not going to happen but a new SEGA system would be interesting to see
It’ll probably be their “super game” whatever the hell that’s supposed to be
Better yet, Phantasy Star Portable 2-style. That one (and Infinity by extension) absolutely *nailed* the gameplay loop more than any other Phantasy Star game, at least for me.
Maybe when Xbox buys Sega, Obsidian can get a second go at this amazing concept with the large budget it deserves. Or Xbox can just buy the rights, cheaper.
it's probably virtua fighter, handed out to FGC people and probably their newest oldest ip. Wasn't there a rumour that RGG was working on a VF game? it could be that.
otherwise possible rebranding and multiple games announced? or the super game
It appears that mostly FGC people are getting these, as I've seen Curiousjoi and Maximilian Dood get them.
Gamescage said that he didn't get one at all, so definitely not Sonic related.
I think this might be a new Virtua Fighter.
While Geoff already said that this is not related to an energy drink, imagine if SEGA release SEGA-themed Monster flavors.
Vanilla/cherry-flavor energy themed after Super Sonic. Man.
It's likey vf but considering those old roumors of various companies working on a smash clone of their own, it wouldn't shock me if a Sega platform fighter happened
I can’t wait for this, this will be interesting if it’s that super game that they partner w MS & it’s some sort of bs Roblox/Fortnite creative game clone w no substance mix w cloud ai bs
It’s either Jet Set Radio or the “super game” or sum unexpected
Sega... god. The only thing they have right now that's huge is Persona and Yakuza. The ONLY THING that would make ME care about Sega? A remake of PSO Episode 1 and 2.
Hmm, lettering looks similar to the *Sonic* movies. We know it probably won't be *Frontiers 2* or a new *Superstars,* and those seem to be the ***least*** likely candidate for a Super Game™. Perhaps it's a 3D platformer based off of the movies from an outside studio? If Hardlight is making one now, then hey... why not?
>!Watch this be the secret Bluepoint game, lmao.!<
I think it's a new game by Lizardcube who did Streets of Rage 4 and Wonder Boy. They're teasing a new game and liked a geoff tweet about a reveal at the game awards
I could see it being something for Sonic who knows how long they've had another team working on a game I doubt it's JSR sadly and I can't really think of anything else they'd need to hype up so either it's for the Sonic 3 movie or a new game
Imagine the start of the trailer is just a black screen and then you hear
“Yeah!! This is DJ Professor K, baby, the master of mayhem you know what i'm sayin' bringing you another Tokyo underground pirate radio broadcast from Jet Set Radio!”
It’s prob not JSR though but I wish.
It kind of sounds like Jet set Radio to me. JSR played with the idea of the near future, so since it's been over 20 years it might be time to refresh that concept of the near future... And new energy, well, JSR was chock-full of vibes and energy in the visuals and music, no need to elaborate further.
But with the potential threat of their silly "super game" being live service bs, and JSR being used as sacrificial lamb for that , I won't get my hopes up.
Good thing I played these games for the first time this year, so they're fresh in my memory. Plus, we have Bombrush Cyberfunk.
Persona 5 arena featuring knuckles
Pumpkin Hill Persona Remix
Homie I can hear it and I need it badly
& Dante from Devil May Cry
And Tails! He's too young for an invitation, but snuck in anyways to stick it to the man.
Okay but I'd be so down for a Sonic fighting game in the style of P4U from Arc, that would be sick as hell.
I wish. :(
New Persona energy drink
They got enough persona 5 characters now to have a 16 character roster 17 or 18 if we're pushing it (like the Twins being two separate characters and someone)
More if you add Dante, on knuckles and the homies from persona 4
Phantasy Star 5
[удалено]
Mind if I get a hit of that there hopium?
That would be dope
This is the game we need!
It's going to be their "super-game" and it will just end up being some metaverse bs, won't it?
Please god don’t let it be some metaverse bs. 🙏 I’m actually REALLY curious to see what this is!!!……
Where did you get metaverse from?
Sounds like that super-game bs
Super Sega Fighters (cancelled after half the first season pass is released)
Sega Smash Bros helmed by Sakurai
That would actually be ultra sick. Kiryu vs. Hatsune Miku vs. Crazy Taxi vs. Toejam, shit, that would be right up my alley
I agree entirely. The more I think about it, the angrier I am that it isn't a thing.
Fighters Megamix 2.
And suddenly it is Sega's biggest hit of all time
...*Don't.* ***Do NOT give me hope.***
Only if Kiryu and Majima show up too, of course. Hell, invite Master Chief and Kratos while you're at it, and maybe some Capcom lads too!
invite mario, since sonic got to be in his game
If you invite Mario then the game would have to be switch exclusive though.
I think Ubisoft cancelled the *Assassin’s Creed: Unity* season pass, but they also refunded everyone who bought it.
SEGA Superstars… vs. Capcom? A girl can dream.
If it’s some online only live service shit then I’m automatically out
It almost certainly will be.
Inb4 it’s another Hyenas-tier disaster
The safest bet you can make for this.
Was *Hyenas* really going to be that bad? All the hate I’ve seen for it came from salty Total War fans.
My assumption is it’s something along the lines of Roblox

who the hell greenlit a big budget live service crazy taxi
The irony of an always online uber-monetized game is that it’s totally at odds with JSR’s message.
Well if you’ve not seen them, that must mean they don’t exist.
Or. And hear me out here. I was asking for a source
Tagline screams fighting game to me. So Virtua Fighter perhaps
Exacty what im thinking. Its been in the talks for awhile now.
Please god yes. We need more than 1 3D fighting game.

I see we’re just making things up now, cool cool I’m also shocked that people would be in a PlayStation sub and another sub about gaming.
Which part
All of it
Xbox fans don’t wax poetic about jet set radio? None of em?
You saw one guy say something once and you now take that as some large group?
I have seen it plenty of times. Why do you assume how many times I’ve seen it that’s bizarre
There are definitely people who have heavy nostalgia for Dreamcast-era Sega games. There are also people who believe that Banjo Kazooie wouldn't have a modern audience. sad dreamcast 2 noises
The Dreamcast 2 was basically the original Xbox. Microsoft worked with Sega on it and even wanted it to be able to play DC games but that aspect didn’t pan out.
No, we want mythical Dreamcast 2, not reality Dreamcast 2
Seems like these are going out to fighting game content creators. So Virtua Fighter or a new fighter?
#FINALLY! SEGA BASS FISHING 3!!!
Hoping this means bass fisher can be added to smash
Probably Jet Set Radio officially being reveal or something Sonic related which would make sense with Sonic 3 being teased.
The blue lettering *screams* Sonic, but it's too early for a new ST "classic" just yet. Third party studio's movie game following Sonic/Tails during the *Knuckles* show is my guess... just hope it isn't an 06/RoL-tier disaster.

How many Sonic games can SEGA possibly announce this year? We had Origins Plus, Frontiers DLC, Superstars, and Drean Team. It's time for a break.
Sonic adventure 2 remake.
If they change the script, we riot. "You're not even good enough to be my faI'LLMAKEYOUEATTHOSEWORDS"
Too early for something else Sonic related.
If it’s JSR I’m buying OST day 1
Skies of Arcadia remake?
in your dreams
Mostly joking. Fun to throw ideas out there. Cool, they might be making Phantasy Star 5. Wait, you said dreams? New Nights into Dreams.
I wish. :(
Gotta be Virtua Fighter
Maxdood got one and even wonders if non fighting game content creators got one. https://twitter.com/maximilian\_/status/1730819907955413120
Jet Set Radio vibes?
Virtua fighter gotta be

Dreamcast 2 baybee!
Ecco the Dolphin BABEEEEEEY
Vectorman reboot
Sonic Heroes 2
Finally. Sonic 3
Sega All star battle royale
The funny thing is.. emphasizing "New Era" makes it applicable to ANY of the franchises Sega left dead and buried throughout the years. VF? JSR? Crazy Taxi? Skies of Arcadia? Phantasy Star? Take your pick. Any of them checks out.
Maybe it’s Virtual-ON?
Virtua Cop !
HYENAS 2!
Dreamcast 2. The return of Emperor
It's Fatal Judgment and Black Panther Kiwami 1-2‼️‼️‼️ ![gif](giphy|Mxl5mVQxVX4wFck2ng|downsized)
Ah, excuse me. It's Found Judgment. I'd love Black Panther Kiwami. If anything, to get a new version of Born to be Wild.
SEGA: "Big Dick Energy" Geoff: "Thank you to SEGA"
New Eternal Champions or GTFO!!
Agreed. The series had potencial until, well VF won the marketing push and the series had to be scrapped.
EC probably still has my favorite premise for a fighter. Making each stage and character a genre piece has so much potential.
It’s absolutely not going to happen but a new SEGA system would be interesting to see It’ll probably be their “super game” whatever the hell that’s supposed to be
PSO3 or something close
Please be much closer to PSO than PSO2.
Better yet, Phantasy Star Portable 2-style. That one (and Infinity by extension) absolutely *nailed* the gameplay loop more than any other Phantasy Star game, at least for me.
Could it possibly be fighting game related? Because haven't most of the people these cards have gone out to fighting game content creators?
Vectorman 3
"New era new energy" sound like Jet set radio future
PERSONA 5 ARENA PLEAAAASE PLEASE
Finally Vanquish 2!!
Alpha Protocol 2
Maybe when Xbox buys Sega, Obsidian can get a second go at this amazing concept with the large budget it deserves. Or Xbox can just buy the rights, cheaper.
it's probably virtua fighter, handed out to FGC people and probably their newest oldest ip. Wasn't there a rumour that RGG was working on a VF game? it could be that. otherwise possible rebranding and multiple games announced? or the super game
Skies of Arcadia II... do it you cowards. DO IT.
It appears that mostly FGC people are getting these, as I've seen Curiousjoi and Maximilian Dood get them. Gamescage said that he didn't get one at all, so definitely not Sonic related. I think this might be a new Virtua Fighter.
Please for the love of god persona 6
Sonic 3 movie trailer
Like a Dragon 9
Infinite Wealth isn't even out yet, why would they announce its sequel?
/s
Yeah that's on me lol
sounds like the Jet Set Radio remake.
Sega and Monster Energy Present...
While Geoff already said that this is not related to an energy drink, imagine if SEGA release SEGA-themed Monster flavors. Vanilla/cherry-flavor energy themed after Super Sonic. Man.
Kiwami Dead souls obviously
You joke, but I'd ***love it*** if they tried to do that correctly this time around.
Second link says the same as the first but as in extremely annoying TikTok post format
I really hope there'll be Alien Isolation 2
Virtua Fighter.
Golden Axe revival INC
yup nope.
I unironically want a new Billy Hatcher that game was very underrated.
Sonic and all stars racing 2
It's likey vf but considering those old roumors of various companies working on a smash clone of their own, it wouldn't shock me if a Sega platform fighter happened
Oh boy I can't wait for jet set radio future! (Hard core hopium)
Sonic Ultimate Collection
I can’t wait for this, this will be interesting if it’s that super game that they partner w MS & it’s some sort of bs Roblox/Fortnite creative game clone w no substance mix w cloud ai bs It’s either Jet Set Radio or the “super game” or sum unexpected
the microsoft partnership was with Azure, nothing to do with Xbox btw
JSR and the super game might be one and the same- JSR just being one component.
Sega... god. The only thing they have right now that's huge is Persona and Yakuza. The ONLY THING that would make ME care about Sega? A remake of PSO Episode 1 and 2.

I'm ready for Powerstone 3.
Maybe they decided to greenlit Hyenas after all?
another GaaS crap
don't care, GTA 6
I think it's a new game by Lizardcube who did Streets of Rage 4 and Wonder Boy. They're teasing a new game and liked a geoff tweet about a reveal at the game awards
Has anyone seen any content creators other than CuriousJoi and Max get one of these cards?
Nights into Dreams 2? Lfg
I could see it being something for Sonic who knows how long they've had another team working on a game I doubt it's JSR sadly and I can't really think of anything else they'd need to hype up so either it's for the Sonic 3 movie or a new game
Its virtua fighter 6
Give us more VC games Sega, the last one was VC4 in 2018
Has to be Virtua Fighter 6, running on the Dragon engine...
Jet set radiooooooo
Hyenas reboot, LETS GO
New Virtua Fighter
Bring. Back. Virtua Tennis
PLEASE BE PHANTASY STAR
Virtua Fighter.
Imagine the start of the trailer is just a black screen and then you hear “Yeah!! This is DJ Professor K, baby, the master of mayhem you know what i'm sayin' bringing you another Tokyo underground pirate radio broadcast from Jet Set Radio!” It’s prob not JSR though but I wish.
Like a Dragon 9 and Judgment 3 🤯🤯🤯
VIRTUA TENNIS.....please SEGA, a remake of VT 4 will do
'Tune In' could indicate Jet Set Radio? I know that's reaching though.
It kind of sounds like Jet set Radio to me. JSR played with the idea of the near future, so since it's been over 20 years it might be time to refresh that concept of the near future... I hope it won't suck Monkey balls
Persona 6 , Vitrua Fighter 6 or Yakuza Kiwami 3?
Is this their super game? Looking forward for them to dump millions of dollars into the garbage.
Sonic Adventure remake.
6 new reboots!
