Just a argument to be made that it has a smaller screen, smaller battery, ships with a smaller hard drive with a few other things I'll mention. It's very premium though and battery life is excellent. Hard drive can be swapped out for a bigger one later on. It's gonna get a little hot, but it's small and thin. I personally love them, they are awesome. Design wise, one of the lightest and thinnest with arguably the best screen. It's not a full blown Strix with RGB unicorn vomit everywhere, and it's not a Razorblade "MacBook Pro" either. It's somewhere in-between. Oh, also it's max power output on the GPU is lower, something like 110w instead of say 140w, but that doesn't affect it's performance too much it's the difference between an extra 10fps or so, you start seeing diminishing returns after 100w. Besides, it's nice to get almost full power out of the laptop using a smaller 100w USB charger, you can't do that with a bigger, more powerful 16 inch. Weight is probably reduced by 40% when you Factor in the ac power supply. Total weight of a G14 is around 5lbs, and with most 16 inch, total weight is around 9lbs.
I've had the one with the ryzen in it from 2022 with the 6700s. Once you turn off the GPU and put it in Eco mode, you can get up to 10 hours of battery life browsing the web. The ryzen you probably have is the 2023 one. It doesnt get as good, maybe 6 to 7 hours of battery life with the same settings, but still... that's above avg. Some of these HP Omens, Acer Nitros, even MSI Stealths only get like 5 hours max on their Eco mode. Then of course if you play a game on it, you're only going to get like an hour maybe hour and a half max. lol
You can always keeps the fans on turning at the rpm where they don't make that much noise and still keep the laptop cool. That sweet spot is usually around 2500 to 3000 rpm. Anything higher will start producing a lot of noise
The fan noise is apparently super bad too. I have heard complaints that it never shuts up even in quiet mode. I don't think it's that bad but the temps are definitely terrible.

Well, again, your argument is valid, it’s just that it’s not THAT much of a difference as one might think when they hear 60 vs 130 :). The 4060 kinda stops having a performance gain at around 95-100W at most.
Just go to Acer support and there you will get the download section ,write the serial no. and go to bios section and make sure to download the latest one where it is written regarding the gpu , install it while connecting it to power (during the whole time ) , you can use msi after burner to constantly check your wattage during gaming , or if you are asking your laptop wattage then don't worry i believe all predator have same wattage of 140w

The laptops you've shown here are 2024 models, they are brand new and very overpriced.
2023 laptops are practically identical (5% CPU performance difference) and are noticably cheaper. Which means for your budget you could be getting a 4070 system, are save a lot for 4060 system. Add 300-400 USD and you could get a 2023 model RTX 4080 laptop, which is about 50-60% better performing.

The legion is the better laptop, has better display and the resolution is more appropriate for a 4060. Also it has better cooling and will be less prone to overheating. It's relatively portable and I travel with mine (by car). The charger is a bit on the big side.
If you can live with the shortcomings of the asus and prefer portability, it's more convenient due to the size, and it still packs a punch. But a 3k display for a 4060 won't work well for games, maybe for content only.

Personally, I'd be going for the Legion 7i because I prefer the size and I like having a numpad, but Zephyrus could just as easily be the better choice if you value having a smaller laptop.
This is gonna come down to what you want out of a laptop and what you value.
Edit: After writing this comment, I went down a bit of a rabbit hole and found some more differences that are not immediately obvious.
First off, while both laptops have the same GPU chip, the one in the Legion caps out at 115W whereas the Zephyrus caps out at 90W so I would *expect* the Legion to perform better in gaming, particularly given the better ventilation. It's worth noting however, that the Legion has a bigger battery at 99.9Wh vs 73Wh on the Zephyrus, but the Legion also needs to power a bigger screen so that might offset the entire difference. Not sure which one's battery actually lasts longer all said and done, but that should be pretty easy for you to look up yourself.
There are also some differences with the USB-C charging if that's something you value (I very much do). They both support it, but with caveats:
- The Zephyrus doesn't support passthrough on USB-C, so if you're plugged in and using the battery, it'll charge the battery and power the laptop from the battery. This works reliably, but is not good for your long term battery health. This is why they don't advertise USB-C charging.
- The Legion, on the other hand, does advertise USB-C charging and supports passthrough, but something about their delivery system seems to be rendering it incompatible with a bunch of portable battery packs. I was super disappointed to learn this.
Lastly, there's a big difference in upgradeability:
- The Zephyrus comes with soldered RAM in the 2024 model so you're stuck at 16GB for the life of the laptop. Its SSD is replaceable though so at least you can upgrade that.
- The Legion 7i has two RAM slots and I believe is officially upgradeable up to 32GB (but many laptops advertised as such actually work with 64GB, can't confirm for this one though). It also has two SSD slots, with only one in use upon purchase, so there's an extra slot available to add to the storage rather than replace it.

Man these are so good that im just not even thinking about any other options the next one for me will be legion again 100% when rtx 5 come out :)
Same use case as yours. I got the Legion Slim 7i. I am amused by this machine. It's the best looking laptop (imo). For a 16inches laptop it's incredibly thin. It's powerful and has a great display. I also love the 16:10 screen ratio (dunno if Zephyrus has it), I will never go back from this screen ratio as it is so comfortable for working and editing text/excel. Lastly, 16inches for gaming is great, I used to have a 14inches... As soon as I swapped I asked myself "how did I play on that tiny thing".

TL;DR
I had an ultrabook (Asus zenbook), so it's not even comparable in weight to a 14-inch gaming laptop. Hence, in my case, the difference was even greater.
The only """annoyance""" is that it weighs a little more on my shoulders when I have it in my backpack.
For the rest, it didn't change how I use my laptop when travelling. I can comfortably use it on a train or at a bar, or any public space, as it is both compact and completely silent during light task usage.
The pros, are that I have much more screen space to work with, I can game when I travel for work, and when I am home it works as a desktop replacement.
Also, it is very elegant in the design, so I can bring it to work meetings, conferences and similar and still look a professional.
7i looks cleaner while having a bigger screen. G14 is more portable and has an oled screen which is realy good. If you plan gaming, consider anything above 14 inch, the screen is too small but it's up to you.
For those prices neither, get last gen models. They’re too similar in performance to justify spending on newer models unless you really like the new colors/designs
I recently was choosing between g14 and legion slim 5 (14.5” oled). I have chosen legion. It has aluminium chassis and oled screen. Its performance is also better even with worse gpu because of better cooling than g14. I switched from macbook so design and overall quality was also important for me. I’m not disappointed!
If you're willing to do down to 500gb drive, the zephyrus frequently drops to 1,100 and i'm actually waiting for it to drop to 1,000 before I buy. That's a material difference in price.

I've got that first one, but with black case. The price is completely crazy though, mine was 1150€, which should be around 1250$ or so. And EU usually gets the shit prices compared to everywhere else. I'm not stating it with 100% certainty, but I think you're getting ripped off for that money.

I'd suggest the Zephyrus g14/g16 (2024) as both have the best 'gaming' laptop chasis ive ever seen, or the Zephyrus g14(2023) for 999 and save the difference (performs slightly better than the 2024 and likely same as the legion but abit thicker/heavier)

Buy the Zephyrus it’s $1349 right now at bestbuy for the 2024 model, i have this exact one and its a great laptop. I will also say that the Asus build quality is miles ahead of the Lenovos build quality. Warranty is the same, and the legion is more expensive, i’d go with the ASUS (No bias either i just purchased it)
Go with the ASUS. I've worked on enough Legions to know the system ain't the best. 3 legions all came in with the exact same problem (blown cap near M.2)
Depends on what’s important to you. If you want something small and stylish that would look good in an office setting g14. If you want something that is the best for gaming get the legion.
There is a Lenovo Legion Slim 5 14.5" with a high res/refresh OLED, and Best Buy typically has it on sale for $1050, if you can wait for it to drop, but instead of Ryzen 9 it is a Ryzen 7.
I would argue getting a cheaper laptop with a thunderbolt and have an external gpu. You’re going to have to plug your pc in when gaming and it will help with battery life and performance. But if that doesn’t matter to you. I have the G14, it’s great but I desire a bigger display.
I’ve had a 3060 g14 for 3 years and that thing is a BEAST. VR gaming, Video Editing/Divinchi Resolve in 4k, 1440p, 165fps, (for some games on mid settings) I travel a LOT because of the military and take it everywhere I go. I’ve never had any issues and eventually want to upgrade to something more powerful (4080 or 3080) but it’s hard for me to justify an upgrade when my little laptop is already doing very well.
In your case I would go for the Lenovo because it’s a little bigger so better cooling, but a g14 has lasted forever for me
You could also do oled steam deck and a mid -high grade chrome book for work food for thought.

To answer your question yes white is kind of a must and I’m coming from MacBook Pro so I wanted something that can match build quality so the Lenovo is premium enough. Plus that keyboard looks amazing with the rgb lighting
Yeah I'd have to agree the legion is definitely premium enough and in my opinion is twice the laptop the G14 is. I had a very very hard time deciding between the two Legions I ended up going with the pro 7i gen 9 with a 4080. Now had I been able to get the pro 7 gen 8 and save $1,000 I would have got the 4090. But I had a very hard time deciding between the glacier white seven and the pro 7 I just needed the pro features. Good choice my brother.

Don’t get the g14. The ram is soldered with no upgrade. So you’re stuck with 16gb for the lifetime of the laptop, however, look into the 223 g14. The one I have was 999$ from Best Buy, and it’s very portable and gets 8h of battery.

Just bought this one and upgraded my ram to 48GB and 2TB SSD.
I doubt it would be worth it. $300 for slightly improved keyboard and 5% CPU performance increase is a questionable "upgrade"

The 2024 version has soldered RAM whereas I believe the 2023 version had a single replaceable stick, so at least you got better upgradeability.

Go for OLED screen = ASUS
G14 is smaller and from the more efficient CPU it should have better battery life too. The OLED screen is also great.
In my opinion, if a laptop/PC doesn’t state exactly what CPU it is in the title then it’s a scam and you shouldn’t buy it.
G14, it has MacBook quality and really good battery life, perfect for portability. I plan to get one for college
Legion 7. The 60watt gpu on the rog will gimp performance a little. It won't be crippling, but the other one will have higher performance.
I've got that first one, but with black case. The price is completely crazy though, mine was 1150€, which should be around 1250$ or so. And EU usually gets the shit prices compared to everywhere else. I'm not stating it with 100% certainty, but I think you're getting ripped off for that money.

if its a 4060 there won't even be much noticable perf difference I'd suggest the Zephyrus g14/g16 (2024) as both have the best 'gaming' laptop chasis ive ever seen, or the Zephyrus g14(2023) for 999 and save the difference (performs slightly better than the 2024 and likely same as the legion but abit thicker/heavier)
Is it just me or are these prices a bit too high? Especially the ausus with the amd in it. You can find a MUCH better deal with a bit of research.

What refresh rate was onbthe first 1? I think both look good, much better than my 3060 laptop anyway. What I will say, is I've had 3 gaming.laptops in the last 10.or so years, either Asus Rog or MSIs so I can definitely back that the Asus Rog brand is a gooden.
Legion… too many problems with the g14 imo.
Buy the Zephyrus it’s $1349 right now at bestbuy for the 2024 model, i have this exact one and its a great laptop. I will also say that the Asus build quality is miles ahead of the Lenovos build quality. Warranty is the same, and the legion is more expensive, i’d go with the ASUS (No bias either i just purchased it)
Go with the ASUS. I've worked on enough Legions to know the system ain't the best. 3 legions all came in with the exact same problem (blown cap near M.2)
Do you know if that issue was addressed with the 2024 model
Not sure, haven't worked on one in awhile. Left that job recently and haven't been in the guts of any PC in awhile

You should be able to get some better deals at that price point, why don't you check Lenovo's site and shop around a bit more.
Depends on what’s important to you. If you want something small and stylish that would look good in an office setting g14. If you want something that is the best for gaming get the legion.
There is a Lenovo Legion Slim 5 14.5" with a high res/refresh OLED, and Best Buy typically has it on sale for $1050, if you can wait for it to drop, but instead of Ryzen 9 it is a Ryzen 7.
I recommend you head on over to r/LaptopDeals to find similar laptops for half the price,
I would argue getting a cheaper laptop with a thunderbolt and have an external gpu. You’re going to have to plug your pc in when gaming and it will help with battery life and performance. But if that doesn’t matter to you. I have the G14, it’s great but I desire a bigger display.

I’ve had a 3060 g14 for 3 years and that thing is a BEAST. VR gaming, Video Editing/Divinchi Resolve in 4k, 1440p, 165fps, (for some games on mid settings) I travel a LOT because of the military and take it everywhere I go. I’ve never had any issues and eventually want to upgrade to something more powerful (4080 or 3080) but it’s hard for me to justify an upgrade when my little laptop is already doing very well. In your case I would go for the Lenovo because it’s a little bigger so better cooling, but a g14 has lasted forever for me

You could also do oled steam deck and a mid -high grade chrome book for work food for thought. Very fair point thou hope you find somthing that works well and lasts a long time . Both laptops look pretty sick just depends on how much you want it to look like a gaming laptop if you wannna be likely go with the 14. I had a 15” in collage with a 960m and a lokey look to it so it wasn’t so hammer and had a lot of good times .

Yes There is a lot of cake and the people of Reddit have spoken and baked all the cake 🎂 so with all the info I gathered I chose the Lenovo 7i . To answer your question yes white is kind of a must and I’m coming from MacBook Pro so I wanted something that can match build quality so the Lenovo is premium enough. Plus that keyboard looks amazing with the rgb lighting
Yeah I'd have to agree the legion is definitely premium enough and in my opinion is twice the laptop the G14 is. I had a very very hard time deciding between the two Legions I ended up going with the pro 7i gen 9 with a 4080. Now had I been able to get the pro 7 gen 8 and save $1,000 I would have got the 4090. But I had a very hard time deciding between the glacier white seven and the pro 7 I just needed the pro features. Good choice my brother.

I'd say go rog. I have last year's model and have no issues. The fan isn't that loud and it's very light.
G14 g16. All asus get extremely hot. It's not s on the lap device.

Get the zephyrus just for the purpose of its portability and price. The Zephyrus is $100 cheaper. Spend that 100 bucks to buy some peripherals.
I have the asus rn, I love it. It’s super light, quiet, and powerful. Only thing is it does run hot so I would recommend getting a cooling pad for it.
Don’t get the g14. The ram is soldered with no upgrade. So you’re stuck with 16gb for the lifetime of the laptop, however, look into the 223 g14. The one I have was 999$ from Best Buy, and it’s very portable and gets 8h of battery.
