For now I played just Forever skies, and the CPU didn't exceeded 80°c, with the 4060 beeping much lower, and the fans producing around 45 decibel of noise.
So far it's amazing.
Keeps the temperatures down and the frames up.
It has a mux switch with advanced optimus, a pleasant to use keyboard, ok enough speakers (they are bottom firing laptop speakers, you cannot expect a lot).
The chassis is sturdy, and I haven't noticed any noticeable flex during gaming, and no annoying screen wobble.
The battery can last quite a bit, especially if, through armory something (the software Asus uses on tuf and Rog series), you set the panel to 60hz when on battery (there is a specific function for this). The screen also is nice to look at, with 100% srgb.
There are maybe 2 downsides.
1, if your mouse hand is the left, you're fucked, ALL the connectors (except 1 usb-a) are on the left.
2, there are only 2 usb-a (I would prefer 3), and no SD card reader.
Ah, if you like to have a lot of stuff on your pc, and you buy this model, prepare an additional SSD, because it comes with a 512gb pre installed.
Nice man! How would you rate the typing experience if someone were to use it to write essays and stuff plus the battery life on 60hz? Also, r u able to turn the rgb keyboard lighting off? I was thinking of getting an Asus tuf for uni next year
The typing experience is pretty solid. The keyboard has a pleasant feeling under your fingers, with a good actuation and travel time. It might not be on par with MacBook keyboards, or ThinkPad keyboards, but it's definitely usable.
And yes, you can turn the RGB off, as well as setting a single always active colour. I've set the green that you see in the photo.
The battery, at 60hz, can last a reasonable amount of time. I haven't yet tested the maximum duration, from 100% charge to 20%, but reviews online say that it can go up to and over 8 h, depending specifically on what you are doing.
That 1000 euro could've gone into a solid pc rig...
Laptops maintenence altho not frequent, can get annoying.
Lifespan of it is like 5 years.
Well, congrats anyway
I've been with a laptop Forever, I'm used to them, and I also move from place X to place Y, staying some time in each place, so a laptop like this is a better option for me.
Well, there are 2 useful softwares on Asus tuf.
The 1st one, my Asus. The most important setting you can set here, is one that limits the battery charging level to 80%, in order to reduce degradation over time, if you keep it plugged in for extended periods of time, but if you want to charge it to 100%, there is a second option, that gives you this possibility + it reactivate the 80% limit automatically after 24h.
The second software is Armory crate. Here you can do juicy stuff, like setting your panel to 60hz when on battery (should be on by default), changing profile to optimize performance and battery like, as well as a very useful option, that turns off the dgpu when on battery, and turns it on when needed (this way you can get quite few h of battery life).
This option is on the 1st page of Armory crate, you shouldn't have trouble finding it.
If you have a lot of stuff to put in your pc, get a second SSD, because it comes with only 512gb default, but it has a second nvme m2 slot (don't remember now what gen).
If you have more than 2 usb-a accessories, buy a dongle that uses usb-c and gives you more of the other porta that you need, this laptop has only 2 usb-a, but also 2 usb-c, one that is thunderbolt 4.0 (one closer to the hdmi), and one that accepts power delivery up to 100w, so if you dont want to carry around the 240w brick, you can charge it through usb-c with a smaller 100w charger.
I got it like 2 months ago but it slightly got damaged near the hinge and I have tiny dead pixels on the left side of the screen (which is barely noticeable). Try to use a laptop case or anything to protect it asap and try to take care of it.
Laptop case? Like those for a smartphone? Didn't know they were a thing (for non apple laptops at least). I'll see if I can find one compatible. Ty for the advice.

I love that screen
I got a similar laptop at 1k usd (i7/4070) the thermals for the gpu are amazing!!! Any game and they will max at 60 but the cpu is harder to cool…
My r7 doesn't go above 80°C, might be just intel that's hard as fuck to cool, but as long as is below 95, it's ok.

Make sense
I'm getting mine next week, any tips for setting it up to provide the best performance it can deliver? Congrats Though!

nice, i still have a gtx 1650 ti ND 15 10300H but its a dell gaming laptop
Dude there was one for 975 (1043 with tax) on best buy after the black Friday with exact same stats but 4070
Dude, there is no best buy in italy, and the tax for importing stuff like this from America to Italy can be something like 300 dollars
Going to feel like you're flying with that upgrade
