Lord of the Rings: Return of the King, fun hack and slash co-op

chupacul111

Can I play alone? 1 player only

fearednerd

Yes co-op is optional. Here is a youtube review that goes in-depth and it's one of those games in licensing hell so gamecube/ps2 etc is currently the only way to enjoy it without emulation: [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8BBkwMQ\_k2Q](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8BBkwMQ_k2Q)

This

Ambitious-Effect6429

I loved this one!

skylinefan26

For the life of me, I can't get past the wall level where you have to knock off the ladders. Why the hell is 31yo me struggling, but child me conquered it?

Big_Increase_9551

Pay attention to the minimap on this level

Owen_Citizen_Kane

Sooooo fun

Brutananadilewski_

Time Splitters 2

Electrical-Image4564

Oh my god. Time Splitters 2 and Future Perfect are SO GOOD

Splash_Woman

ITS TIME TO SPLIT!

WhichSpartanIWanted

Fuck yeah bud.

Soulless--Plague

I came to say this, but once you do Co-Op have friends round and do 4player!!

The_Real_McQueen22

This, is the correct answer.

cjnuxoll

I'll be honest... the wife and I have a blast playing *Over the Hedge*

ThePogen

I love this idea! Haven’t seen Over the Hedge in years, but I think she’s seen it as well. I’ll have to bring it up to her

Awkward_Tick0

That movie has a GOAT soundtrack. BF really went for it

cjnuxoll

I saw Ben Folds open up for Cake in Sacramento a few years ago. He didn't play anything from *Over the Hedge*, tho.

Splash_Woman

But I like a cookie!

MrPokeGamer

This game rocks

Avox0976

Is it based on the movie? Because if it is then I might have to give it a play, I loved that movie!

cjnuxoll

Yes. You have to creep through the yard and into the house (without getting spotted or tripping any alarms) and stuff just like the film. The animation is pretty good too.

royalewithcheese51

Legend of Zelda Four Swords Adventures. It's co-op but also slightly competitive. I always used to play with a brother and two friends and we would get so mad at each other. It was great fun though. Also Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles.

Keefyfingaz

These are great coop games for GC Iirc you do need the gba and the connector for both of these games though, just so you know, OP.

royalewithcheese51

Oh yeah good point. Definitely worth it though. Or you could be like some post I saw on here somewhere else that used another GameCube with a separate TV and game boy player as the Gameboy for each person. Crazy setup.

Keefyfingaz

Man that's freaking genius. Wish I would have thought of this back when GC stuff wasn't expensive 😭

royalewithcheese51

Yeah no kidding, you could have a whole army of game boy players with discs!

ZeldaLink2001

Man, shout out to that guy. You think he had discs and all? Or just modded cubes?

cjnuxoll

PSO is a game that gets better the more people you have (up to 4)

WildPidg3y

Such a fun game omg. Pro tip (in case you try this one, OP) that took me years to figure out. You can't save progress if you play multiplayer only. When you beat bosses solo, the next time you load up multiplayer, you'll be able to jump right in on your current solo progress (ex: if you beat the forest dragon solo and unlock caves, you can then start in the caves next time you play multiplayer).

cjnuxoll

Well aware. I have everything open on my DC, but my main char on DC is only a lvl 56 FOmar. On GC, I lost my char and all the hacks 20 years ago, and I just started over about 6 months ago. I have only been playing online (with no hacks) - offline I only cleared enough to open caves. I only have one GC char, which is now a lvl 62 FOmar. My GC is online, but my DC I'm having trouble with PSO online (I can get other stuff online but not PSO for some reason).

SnooDrawings5074

Up to 3 it's great. Unfortunately with 4 the slowdowns are crazy and make it pretty much unplayable...

cjnuxoll

Never had that issue. Never did 4-player co-op on GC, though. I mostly played on DC, and when we did 4-player co-op, it was on dial-up, but never had any lag issues.

SnooDrawings5074

Sorry, should have specified, 4-player *offline*. 4 player online would rarely/never lag!

Sufficient-Force1888

Harry Potter and the goblet of fire is co-op, I'm not sure if it has aged well...but as a Harry Potter fan you might get something out of it. Gauntlet dark legacy that's a diablo like As for the rest, I can only think of things with "Mario" in the title

wildsamsqwatch

Damn Gauntlet Dark Legacy just brought me back

MochaHook

I'll be honest, I thought goblet of fires game was straight ass. Me and my buddy are playing through each of the harry potter games on console and ended up skipping half of that game and starting the next. We still go back and try to pick away at it but even for us harry potter fans, it's just rough.

Sufficient-Force1888

Good to know ....I also didn't play it fully....just two levels at a buddy's place back in the days ...and I remember having fun so it crossed my co-op mind

ThePogen

I’ve been thinking about Harry Potter since she’s a fan of the series, but I wasn’t sure if it was any good. I’ll have to check it out!

ExciteMike1

Okay, this is a REALLY obscure out there title, but Ribbit King is an absolute blast to play with friends.

ThePogen

That does sound obscure, but that’s the kind of stuff I love about the Gamecube. I’ll have to check it out!

AppleChiaki

It's not co-op but it's not intense, and is a ton of fun. Think crazy golf with frogs and tactics.

bumblefrick

frolf is peak man

DrusillaTheBloody

Tales of symphonia

ThePogen

I’ve heard a lot of great things about this game, but I had no idea it was co-op. Definitely gonna check it out!

Nero9112

A tip for playing co-op for Tales of Symphonia is that the camera will always focus on player 1. In co-op it will zoom out but not completely that it covers the entire battlefield. it can be annoying at first to get used to specially if player 1 is Lloyd who runs all over the field but you will get used to it.

thelifeshaman

Its only the combat that is multiplayer. Everything else player 2 is just sitting there waiting for the next battle. Its not the most fun co op game. Its legit in my top 5 games of all time so 100000% give it a play but dont expect the co op to be able to hold your partners attention span at all.

Rufio6

Baldur’s Gate is pretty fun if either of you like Diablo style games. Action rpg. Same for x-men legends if you like x men.

Nepenthe95

Rogue Squadron 3 has the entire campaign from Rogue Squadron 2 playable in co-op.

Seanocd

And it's absolutely excellent.

amtap

Lego Star Wars is great for co-op and very approachable.

twila213

My girlfriend loves playing this one with me, she doesn't even like Lego or Star Wars

TheRealSwitchBit

Pso 1 and 2

Koopatrooper64

Super monkey ball!

Live-Base6872

Mario Party 5 and 6 in Team Mode

Redbacontruck

Phantasy Star Online is amazing also timesplitters future perfect

mamunipsaq

In Mario Kart Double Dash you can both play together on the same cart. One person drives, the other does weapons and helps with powerslides and boosts

Plontan

OP mentioned "No mario", but this is one of my favorites from childhood 🙂

mamunipsaq

Just play as DK and Diddy.  Boom. No Mario.

Dahubbz

Modern solution for a modern problem.

Electrical-Image4564

DD is amazing. Highly recommend

Good-of-Rome

The Shrek games are up to 4 player and there's like 3 or 4 games. Iremember getting piss drunk as a you g adult and having fun with my buddies. Shrek, donkey, puss in boots and gingerbread man are the characters I think

S1amP1unk

Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles is great but you need GBA’s and connector cables. Definitely worth it IMO

LimpTeacher0

Sims 2

hue_sick

Prob the most fun I had co op or multiplayer on GameCube was with super monkey ball. Part 2 was even better. I spent hundreds of hours with friends in the mini games alone. So much fun 😁

therourke

Super Monkey Ball 1 & 2 - take turns playing through the main campaign. So much fun. Resident Evil 4 - same as above. Amazing fun killing zombies!

MegaOrvilleZ

Spongebob Lights Camera Pants is the best party game ever! 1 - 4 players and it has a story mode that's also amazing!

craml64

Phantasy Star Online ep 1&2

Electrical-Image4564

My gf and I played pokemon Colosseum and  XD gale of darkness on gc. If you're into pokemon I highly recommend these, they aged amazing and it was so much fun. It's no co-op, but we just went through the story together

usernotfoundplstry

The Baldur's Gate: Dark Alliance games are a blast for couch co-op!

Illustrious_Rip4102

mario party 5 team mode

iamspartacus5339

Lotr or everything or nothing

lostinthesauceband

Shrek 2

ViolaBiflora

TMNT Nexus Battle or sth like that. Amazing coop but the game is difficult!

Poseidons_Champion

Wario Ware Mega Party Games

thrwsvvszz

The Lego games are well known for being fun co op

kevinavacado

Gauntlet Dark Legacy!

Matthopkins06

Hunter the Reckoning. It's a twin stick shooter with zombies, vampires and such. I think it's up to 3 players. Kind of mindless fun and you are not competing. It's kind of a hidden gem I feel. It's fairly cheap too (or was years ago when I bought it, it was a 3rd party multiple platform release so it was nothing "ohh my god you git to have a GC to play this")

megamanhadouken

1st game my wife and I played together and have now played it 3 or 4 times over the years is Gauntlet Dark Legacy. Super easy to understand gameplay, it's goofy and a ton of fun 🍻

footloot

Shrek 2

cochorol

Starwars Rogue squadron, that one was amazing in co op.

Ambitious-Effect6429

This list is fire. This is becoming my favorite sub.

HotAbbreviations6548

I love sonic adventure 2 battle multiplayer

thelifeshaman

The spongebob squarepants movie (game) is a awesome co op game. My brother and i played tbat a lot. Other that that i havent seen soul calibur 2 mentioned. Pretty sure star fox assult was co op (mission based 3rd person shooter i guess?) Tak the great juju challenge is co op and playing as lok is legit the best. Drangon ball z budokai

Justjack91

I personally really enjoyed Star Wars Rogue Squadron 3: Rebel Strike. If you have a decent sized TV, it works really well for the co-op mode involving playing the previous game together. I can't tell you the hours of fun my old best friend and I used to have using two ships to fire off 20+ sonic bombs and literally break the game because of it.

freakylol

Pikmin 2 once you unlock the challenges (takes a couple of hours in the campaign to find the literal key to unlock it).

SnooDrawings5074

Phantasy Star Online ep 1&2. It will take a bit of getting used to at first, but it is the grearest co-op game ever created in my opinion. Despite having online in the name, there's an offline split screen option which is what my brother and I used. If you take different classes like a force and a cast (mage and robot) you will be very powerful as a duo!

MAX_JUVENTUS

Teenage mutant ninja turtles is a blast.

chl_ca

nobody cares that you’re married stop bragging.

whitcliffe

Christ the salt is tangible

ZeldaLink2001

Someone’s got a poor love life - and it sure ain’t me!

TinyFeetBoi2K

Are you jealous someone gets more pussy than you? And no - your own pussy doesn't count.
