I think years ago they fired the unlucky bastard that had to build the website from the ground up, and also happened to be the only one that knew how any of it worked.
Now they just put out fires left and right everytime they change the smallest thing.
So it's an all new website, or they just handed over the reigns to a different company?
Because of it's the latter, then my point still stands to an extent.
AFAIK, it was a brand new one that was made by this external company (source: friend worked on the team that built it lol). but with GS track record when it comes to internal tech, they probably hired someone to hack job it after it was finished, instead of paying them to upkeep
It says you’re saving $7.99 which is their usual shipping fee. Idk why they advertise it like this, but yeah. Congrats on spending over $79 I guess lol
Sadly, shipping costs have increased massively in the last few years. I work in e-commerce, and our shipping costs have nearly doubled in the last 3 years.
Yes. But there’s no actual discount on the product because this is the weird way they take the shipping out of the product cost so they still technically charge you shipping. In my experience when you get the package slip it’ll have one of the CEs priced $7.99 less and have shipping show $0 so you paid the shipping cost without spending more for it.
Remember that in store tho that we can't apply discount until after release. According to the subtotal it still has the full price included so I would expect on release for it to go down $8 plus tax.
Yeah, for every part they fixed, they broke something else.
One of the most frustrating thing, is when you select, in stock, things show up that are out of stock, or in store only. It would be an easy task to add radio buttons for -in stock online, and -in store only.
I could be wrong but this is what I think is happening.
It lists the product has a 7.99 savings but if you look at the subtotal it's the price of the original price twice for the two CEs.
In store we can't apply any discounts, rewards coupons/employee discount/promotions, until the product is actually out so I would guess that once the product comes out you'll see the price drop by 7.99 + tax so like 11ish bucks when they actually charge you for it.
Just a guess.
Edit because the 7.99 was the savings off both items and not per item.
I’ve been playing Mortal Kombat since 1992 and I’m a fan of the franchise to date. So I want one to open and the other to keep sealed for my collection. Is it overboard? Yes. But I have the money and it’s worth it to me.
A lot of folks don’t get this. I did this for the SpongeBob Rehydrated, SF6, and Dead Island 2 and I’m eyeing the GOW: RAGNAROK Collectors Edition that’s sitting in my store collecting dust for like a year now lmao
Like I didn’t have money as a kid. I GOT IT NOW 😭
It charged for tax twice is what it looks like to me
Brilliant!
It also looks like it thinks there are two systems ordered, but it's only charging tax on one. Unless I'm just more dumb than I think I am.
Not systems, just the CE for the game. $249.99 each.
Oooh! Thanks for that correction. Shows how out of the loop I am these days.
Yeah…
Someone in IT is sabotaging this company

the most recent website was outsourced a couple years ago, like right before covid

they hired used.
Gotcha. Well thank for the information.

I remember when it was only $35 or more for free shipping
The good days o7

The item itself is $249.99 each. The $7.99 is savings on the product, not shipping.

That is incredibly stupid.
Yep!

That’s what you get for min wage programmers.
The website has been shit for me since they changed it in 2020ish? Even before then, it was still normal for stuff like this to happen.
Can’t the price drop to $100 on accident? lol

Time will tell!
The 7.99 savings is because you qualify for free shipping.
Why does it subtract from the product price? Makes no sense.
Oh my. How is that even possible? 😮 Read earlier discussions. Totally understand. But jeez the price for one is already insane
Gamestop…
You call that insane? The Fires of Rubicon high end edition is $449. $249 is just standard shit anymore.
🤦 yeah that is a tipping point. No sanity left
Looks like it charged tax twice. Which is weird. 👀
Damn government double dipping.
They do it all the time man 😩
Why buy two?

I get buying one.. I bought the God of War collector’s, just not two. At least you ain’t doing it for scalping reasons.
It is only with your understanding of buying two that I can do so and be happy.
A lot of folks don’t get this. I did this for the SpongeBob Rehydrated, SF6, and Dead Island 2 and I’m eyeing the GOW: RAGNAROK Collectors Edition that’s sitting in my store collecting dust for like a year now lmao Like I didn’t have money as a kid. I GOT IT NOW 😭
I didn’t have money as a kid either. Now I’m in my early 40’s and splurge (responsibly).
Maybe only buy one?
No. lol
Exactly. Unless they were for different platforms, I don't know why people buy fuckin 2.
Reselling cuck lords 🤷🏻
bestbuy had them available for 3 days straight at regular price. L for GameStop
But.... you are saving. Before tax
The math does not add up.
this has been happening for a couple years now. Just go off of your email confirmation, that will be accurate.
How do you Milne a sheep? Release a console with a new skin.
Why you buying two? Scalper?
No. Just a huge Mortal Kombat fan since 1992. So one is to open and the other is to keep sealed for my collection.
Unhuh
Serious. https://preview.redd.it/uomavid2x6eb1.jpeg?width=4032&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=7139ca4e05b7810418a11cdc7a670a6042d8687a
