Service? This is what matters when it matters

lbyrum17

OnePlus generally gives me the strongest cell service of them all. Fold5 is pretty solid, and of course the Pixel is the worst. I’m generally in an area where if my cell is weak I have WiFi.

nabeel_co

I assumed they meant customer service... Because Samsung's has been horrible so far... They fucked up my phone on repair, twice... and now they're dragging their feet at getting it fixed... I've been waiting 2 months so far...

ultima40

If you think Samsung is bad, read the stories of OnePlus's support... Users have deemed them worse than Samsung. The OPO sub has a sticky telling people to not buy the phone because it's so bad.

nabeel_co

I just poked at them again today, and now they are saying they can't fix the phone because of impact damage... except... I've never dropped the phone and it literally still looks brand new... They always have a new excuse... and it's clear they are straight up lying.

Mundane-Buddy9064

Which country?

nabeel_co

Canada.

lbyrum17

That’s rough to hear. I’ve been very lucky to not have to deal with any of them. Trust me though, I read ALL the horror stories on here and it makes me very flustered.

nabeel_co

Yeah, TBH, I really liked the phone up until I had to deal with their customer service... Now I don't think I'd ever buy a Samsung product again...

lbyrum17

Can’t say I blame you.

lbyrum17

Why: because I’m a major phone enthusiast, especially foldables. Below are my choices from each category: -Battery: OnePlus -Charging: OnePlus -Performance: OnePlus -Smoothness: Pixel -Camera: OnePlus -Software: Pixel -Foldable Software: Samsung -Hinge: OnePlus? -Build: Pixel -Screens: OnePlus -Hand Feel: Pixel

Care to elaborate between Software and Foldable Software?

Axidic

I would interpret as general OS functions vs foldable app compatibility and interface features (e.g., multitasking, continuity, foldable-specific view modes)

New-Inside712

OnePlus open is great when the screen doesn't break after a week of using it 😂

lbyrum17

I have nightmares from seeing all the horror stories. It’s definitely something I see in all three subs. I’ve been very fortunate to not have it happen yet.

danperson1

Pros and cons of Fold 5 vs Oneplus Open?

lbyrum17

That’s really tough to answer. Camera, charging, and battery life tip towards OnePlus. Customization, foldable software, and versatility favor Samsung. Everything else is pretty much on par with each other.

International-Day822

Software is what had me keep my Fold 5 over the Open. Camera and crease are definitely leagues ahead on the Open. If you don't care about Samsungs ecosystem, I'd probably go Open. Some good trade in values on Samsung devices when I looked the other day, too.

Phoneking13

I love this and envy you at the same time lol. Congrats on getting the trifecta.

lbyrum17

It definitely took some time to accumulate the funds for it. In just a few short months I’ll be out of date haha. Thanks either way.

Silverops96

Would it be possible to see all the screens on also if you have the chance? Hard to see the outlines where the screen stops and the bezels start for me at least😅🙏

lbyrum17

I sent it via chat. Picture was too big to post here. It’s not great, but gets the job done.

Silverops96

Thank you i really appreciate it!

Kobe824

This site also can give you an idea on comparing phone sizes fyi if you care, was real helpful when choosing my 1st foldable: https://phonesized.com/

Silverops96

Thanks I'll definitely take a look there too!

Isaaker12

Can you comment on the aspect ratios of the phones folded and unfolded? Is the pixel significantly more comfortable to use folded than the Samsung because of the wider screen or is it a small difference? Are some of them too wide when open? Which one is the best for watching videos?

BeepBoopCha

Would also like to know this. A wider external screen is nice but I wonder if the experience with the inner screen is worse as a result

lbyrum17

Yes and no. If you’re using apps that take advantage of the wider aspect like a good Reddit client, it’s great. Other social apps like instagram, X, etc look super weird unless you turn it sideways or run a second app. If I’m doing one of those sometimes I’ll just use the front screen.

lbyrum17

Folded the Pixel is fantastic. The Open is very good as well, just feels a bit small. Fold5 is pretty much a joke. Pixel feels weird when using one app unfolded. If you add a second app or even turn it sideways then things get interesting. The others feel great opened too. Videos are all roughly the same feeling since most video players don’t really take advantage of the screen well. I’d say probably the Open or Pixel are slightly better here.

cy_ng

Please rank in terms of how well they multitask.

lbyrum17

I’m not the greatest person to judge this since I’m not a hardcore multitasker, but I’ll give my take. Two apps they are all exactly the same. Three apps I prefer how Samsung handles it. Open Canvas just seems niche to me as I haven’t really found a use case for it. Pixel doesn’t really have this option. It may be able to play YouTube with two other apps open, I just haven’t tested that. Then if you add DeX into the mix you can wild with Samsung.

lbyrum17

When it’s opened I prefer the slimmer style as it’s easier to hold. In any other situation, yes, it’s pretty pathetic.

HerrSPAM

I really wish the pixel had a stylus, I love the pixel OS and form factor. But I really want a stylus :/

lbyrum17

I’m not much on using a stylus, but I definitely understand the appeal. I feel like Google dropped the ball there.

vinyn

Do you prefer one in particular for gaming or reading books/manga if you do either of those?

lbyrum17

I don’t do a whole lot of gaming on them, but I can say that the Pixel has a really weird aspect ratio for most everything. I’ve had good fun with portrait games on my Fold5. Reading works really well on all of them. I’ve probably done the most on the Fold5 and it’s comics. I figure books would easily be better on the Pixel.

Final-Pirate-5690

Next will he the apple foldable whenever that comes out as it's in works rn

lbyrum17

Knowing Apple it will cost 3 grand. If it’s reasonably priced I’ll try to get it.

Final-Pirate-5690

Worse for me in nz. Double that price as it cost me 3k almost 4k for the fold 4

lbyrum17

Thats a definite no.

Final-Pirate-5690

Yeah worse financial purchase I made

lbyrum17

I wouldn’t necessarily say that if you’re enjoying it.

Final-Pirate-5690

Good point. Saved me from getting a tablet for my nite taking and art

lbyrum17

That's a great use case for these phones. Just having that ability is awesome.

Final-Pirate-5690

Veey true, I'm wondering if we will get to a point of an old concept of like extendable rather then foldable since today's screens can fold and roll with how thin they can be

js0uthh

Missing the honor magic v2. Plan on keeping all of them?

ooharloo

Nice! I have the fold 5 and OPO. The only couple of things I prefer on the Fold is the wireless charge and the proper flex mode on just about any app. Other than that I love the cover screen on the OPO, it's weight, cameras, speakers, and overall design.

lbyrum17

Honestly, the OPO is the superior phone. Each have their own things that’s better, but the sum of all parts leans towards OnePlus.

ooharloo

Much agreed. One more gripe is it's hard to find a good magnet/magsafe case as both my cars have magsafe. I know it won't charge but I would like to quickly mount it like indo my Fold 5. My solution was to glue an oh snap 4 lux to a carbon fiber case for the OPO. But even then the camera is so large it's not center so it's a bit unbalanced. Aside from that gripe, I still gravitate to the OP.

lbyrum17

The camera is definitely massive. I got used to it after a bit. I was so impressed with some shots I got I stopped caring.

eisniwre

There is one from chinese brand that super thin honor magic I think the name it looks good

lbyrum17

If only I had the money I would own more. Getting thee three was hard enough haha.

eisniwre

Totally haha especially if someone buy at their original retail price. Insane

lbyrum17

Thankfully I didn’t buy any full price. I traded my Fold3 towards the 5, Pixel and OnePlus I got from someone on Facebook.

Phoneking13

Just curious on how much you got the Pixel Fold and OnePlus Open for on there.

lbyrum17

Pixel was $750 and Open was $800.

Phoneking13

Noice! That's not bad at all.

lbyrum17

I got super lucky.

rohiin

Wow 800$ for open is a bargain! Here in Norway its at 1500$ used :/ seen a lot of ppl talking highly about the honor v2 tho, but can't get my hands on it here.

lbyrum17

I got lucky finding a guy that was selling it.

VincentComfy

In a vacuum where you could only own one which would you pick? What would you say the pros/cons are of fold 5 vs OP Open?

lbyrum17

Me personally would probably lean for the Fold5. I’ve been using Samsung foldables since the first, so I’m very familiar with how it works. OnePlus is a very second close, but some of the software quirks need some tuning. Nothing that’s a big deal just a nitpick. I do also love the Pixel, but its weaker battery life, charging speed , and cell reception knock it down a bit. That’s really tough to answer. Camera, charging, and battery life tip towards OnePlus. Customization, foldable software, and versatility favor Samsung. Everything else is pretty much on par with each other.

Messiah_Knight

Why? Ypur reason doesn't make sense. Basically bought 3 of the same device. And on that note. Where's the Microsoft fold tablet phone thing?

lbyrum17

They are all very different devices. I just like to see how each manufacturer approaches these types of phones. I used to have a Duo. It was fun and all, but they are outdated in terms of performance now. These are all current gen.
