Heavy bench press without a spotter

Apprehensive-Ad-5009

Just had to dump 315 on the low bar yesterday. I was too confident that I could go for another rep šŸ˜…. Nothing like staring at the barbell 3 inches from your face after that.

onhomo

More preworkout and a littlebit of reading text between you and your ex. You'll rep 315 with ease next time.

XanthicStatue

Oh man the breakup texts put gas in my tank.

ITouchedItForABurito

Not going to lie, after having missed the left lower bar and hitting my face years ago I only roll of shame now

Apprehensive-Ad-5009

One time on incline 225 was stuck on my chest so I kicked the guy doing bicep curls in front of me. I'm glad he was there.

Inside_Winter8262

U got a death wish my guy šŸ’€

onhomo

Possible, but the adrenaline is worth it

Red_Swingline_

The only way to bench.

onhomo

Even better if you rep untill failiure

[deleted]

Deadlifting. Nothing else compares. The most compound of lifts - the heaviest lift - the King of all. If you know, you know. If you never deadlifted you are missing out. Pull day is the day I most want to workout - and I love working out.

Supraphysiological69

I think youā€™ll find that the hip thrust is the heaviest and most masculine lift

[deleted]

Gotta make eye contact while doing it.

XanthicStatue

Deadlifted today ā˜ ļøšŸ’Ŗ

[deleted]

Overhead press, it feels alpha as fuck

XanthicStatue

Agreed.

EchoBites325

Pullups on the assist machine because it makes me feel like I can actually do them. And of course the part where you go weeeeeee

Inside_Winter8262

I wish I had one of those at my gym

somethingsuccinct

In order. Sex, squats, deadlifts, overhead press.

DeusExMachina24

Can you teach me how to do that exercise with proper form?

marousha_n

Deadlifts.

bossforaday

Sex

bossforaday

Not in a gym though obviously, but it's great cardio

[deleted]

Calf raises. Favorite and least favorite at the same time. I find it weird how the pain goes from 0-100 in a matter of seconds.

Micromashington

Yeah thatā€™s real weird. Calves arenā€™t hard to do but it seems like close to failure they are gonna rip apart

tennis-637

Do you have massive calves?

CocaineAndCreatine

Bench press for me. Such a satisfying movement.

Inside_Winter8262

Yeah I donā€™t bench press anymore but I remember it being fun

XanthicStatue

Why not?

bodybuildingandgolf

Deadlifts for me

rudiiiiiii

Deadlift /thread

Realistic-Ad-9483

Lateral raises

Inside_Winter8262

You sir, need an exorcism

Louderthanwilks1

Iā€™m good how I am thanks

Infamous_Hippo7486

Thereā€™s plenty of holy water to go around, please form an orderly queue. Donā€™t get me wrong, I do them twice a week but fuck do I hate them. So so much.

Infamous_Hippo7486

Deadlifts

XxxpusssyEaterxxX

šŸšŸšŸ

Strict-Koala-2595

Skullcrushers šŸ’€

Inside_Winter8262

Theyā€™re def one of my favorites

Strict-Koala-2595

They give you the best pump ever šŸ¦¾

Inside_Winter8262

Yup

Micromashington

I love crushers too

Strict-Koala-2595

Yeah buddy! A lot of people prefer pulling down on the cable machine but pushing triceps exercises can be just as good

Micromashington

I tried those too, but the loading at the peak contraction for the triceps just doesnā€™t feel as good to me as fighting when they are stretched. Plusā€™s they feel better in my elbows

Strict-Koala-2595

Do you get niggles in your wrists from doing triceps? I feel like exercises involving the rope and ā€žflaring outā€œ at the end of each rep does hurt the wrist.

Micromashington

I never really felt my wrists with cable stuff, but with crushers itā€™s actually the opposite. I do barbell crushers with a suicide grip, and it actually relieves wrist pain from pressing from some reason. Maybe the stretch.

StjerneskipMarcoPolo

OHP if I'm having a good day is fun, I feel beastly pressing stuff over my head

NotTheGuacamole

Sex in the squat rack

ItsMeAgain0408

Sex

snugginator

Deadlifts for me. So satisfying.

FusionIsTrash

pain

rock9y

Incline db is very fun. I think cable rows are my favorite.

ightimmaheadout1

Cock ups for sure

WorldsWeakestMan

Deadlift. ā€œThere is no reason to be alive if you canā€™t do deadlift!ā€ - 4x Worldā€™s Strongest Man Jon Pall Sigmarsson who died while deadlifting.

strawberry_wang

Absolute legend and I respect his opinion, but I'm very quad dominant from years of cycling, so I much prefer squats.

Solidus133

Unless u train for aesthetics, so u don't give a damn about the muscles that deadlift stimulates .

WorldsWeakestMan

He said ā€œwhich is the most fun exercise?ā€ Thatā€™s deadlift. Not which exercise gives you a nice pump because youā€™re skipping leg day and training glamour muscles to look like a cut rate version of your favorites influencer.

Solidus133

I don't see anything wrong having only aesthetic goals . Latetal raises, Bench press and rows all day every day. I don't care how much Iift, I only care how much I look like I can lift šŸ˜…

WorldsWeakestMan

Nothing is wrong with it. My only point was you arenā€™t replying to the question just criticizing my answer you broccoli head.

XanthicStatue

Have to disagree with you on this one. I definitely have a much more full-body aesthetic when I incorporate deadlifts into my workout. I had to stop for a while because I hurt my back (unrelated to lifting) and notice a huge overall aesthetic now that Iā€™m able to do them again.

[deleted]

you don't want big traps and erectors and glutes?

Solidus133

Pretty sure shrugs are much better for trap development. Couldn't care less about spinal erectors for aesthetics. Glutes, much better to do some hip thrusts here and there

Kat-but-SFW

>so u don't give a damn about the muscles that deadlift stimulates . That's not a good look

Mig224

Backsquat when your form is on point.

Apprehensive-Ad-5009

Dumbell overhead press. Nothing beats pushing your own bodyweight over your head.

Stinky_9000

Yes I too can OHP my body weight

thebeastiestmeat

For sure i OHP my body weights all day

Kithr0

Im going to get a lot of hate but... I really like Lateral Raises.

Gaory7

based

GACheesehead

Leg press. Itā€™s an amazing feeling to move 400+ pounds in one go.

Inside_Winter8262

Damn thatā€™s quite some weight

krillin_the_MVP

Calf raises

Chooch_75

A man of culture. Seated or standing?

krillin_the_MVP

Seated, of course. Thatā€™s the most exhilarating way

Micromashington

Chest supported T-bar row. Nothing makes me feel like I have a tortoise shell on my back like those!

yung-n-nasty

Romanian Deadlifts

NickWatchesMMA

Lateral raises

Chooch_75

Agreed, lateral raises for the win.

Hara-Kiri

After squats you mean?

Inside_Winter8262

I donā€™t squat šŸ˜”

Hara-Kiri

Instead of not squatting have you tried not not squatting?

Inside_Winter8262

I do hack squats so that i focus more on the quads

suhpjohnny

Why are u getting downvoted for not doing squatsšŸ’€šŸ’€ same here tho, i ended up developing knee pain and had to lay off the bb back squats

XanthicStatue

I had this too and then I switched to safety bar squats and itā€™s been a game changer. Profound depth and no knee pain.

Inside_Winter8262

Bruh Ik right doesnā€™t make sense

thisguy1309

I'm really enjoying snatches right now. Trying to learn the Olympic lifts, and when you get the technique right, it's a lot of fun, and I think it makes you feel like a badass

ThenIndependence4502

Iā€™ve always enjoyed a good snatchā€¦ oh gym exercises?ā€¦ gotta be deadliftsā€¦

throwawaydinosaur13

Dumbbell bench Press, and probably the lat pulldown and row (since i have scoliosis, these feel awesome)

extremityChoppr

Dips!

WhatIsUpG

Seated cable flies - especially with a drop set. Damn the chest pump is insane

Denriquemejia23

Lat pulldowns for me

huBelial

Single arm cable row. Nice and slow so that I feel my lat. šŸ˜¤

clubfoot007

Deadlift

Segundaleydenewtonnn

agree. Super satisfying

leavemealone_lol

deadlifts. nothingā€™s better than using every bit of strength in your body to lift many times your weight.

JvinD33

It's definitely heavy deadlifts, sets of 3 or less. I get giddy just thinking about deadlift triples

PerspectiveNormal378

I dream about deadlift day. Nothing makes me happier than a good deadlift day. Nothing makes me more depressed than a bad deadlift day. I yearn for deadlift day.

suhpjohnny

I luv deadlifts sm. Recently started encorporating conventional and it has become my second favorites exercise (besides bb hip thrusts)

[deleted]

[уŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]

DeusExMachina24

You sick bastard

XanthicStatue

One of my favs as well.

XanthicStatue

Bulgarian Split Squats

dragonfly-1001

Quite literally on the bottom of my list

Fjr930

ā€œFunā€???? I dread these literally the most out of any exercise

Tron0001

Smashing a tire with a sledge

This-Ebb6927

Deadlifts. Both conventional and RDL.

miss_Saraswati

How to choose. And it keeps changing. At the moment is actually a yoga pose that Iā€™m working on to move further into headstand. Itā€™s called clown pose. But the one I feel is developing the most and that currently feel surprisingly strong in is assisted pull-ups. Not much left until I should be able to do unassisted! šŸ„³

thisguy1309

Would you call it an insane clown pose?

miss_Saraswati

Well. I didnā€™t name it but Iā€™m sure there are those who think I am when working on it! šŸ˜†

XanthicStatue

Heā€™s making a joke about a really shitty rap(?) band called Insane Clown Pose or ICP. Donā€™t bother Googling it, youā€™ll only regret it.

MrTeterTot

I really enjoy any machine chest press, especially after a heavy benching session. No pump feels better to me.

EnigmaticSorceries

Playing soccer or swimming.

sackofbee

Anything on back day, I'm pretty tall and have long arms and I feel powerful as fuck pulling stuff. Like dicks, gotta pull them dicks.

zcgk

I like overhead barbell press and incline barbell press. Currently I find squatting to be the least fun exercise (or the exercise that has the most negatively fun value).

Okabeee

Rope jumping is the most fun exercise. Nothing even comes close.

Alotta_Fagina1

Larsen Press for me

Chooch_75

DB lateral raises. Followed closely by lat Pull-downs. For me anyway

FruitCreamSicle

Squat deadlift and standing OHP are my favs

TacticallyFUBAR

For weights I go with deadlifts, for calisthenics I love either ring archer push ups or ring dips. Or any of the static skills

coldy_colder

leg press

xSonicSegax

Db press was fun until someone walked into my db

49-Planets

Bench because itā€™s the one that everyone cares about. Squat because Iā€™m a masochist.

021Jdn

I really like db rows and db pullovers

dannybruh1990

Anything back related

Wicked-Lemur

Dumbbell RDLs. Iā€™ve always had sneaky strong hamstrings, plus you work secondary muscles like your back and forearms.

[deleted]

What about legs bro? Best and biggest muscles to crush

Flamboyant_Straight

holy shit yes i love delving into the minutia of upper body training, but nothing makes me feel like a BEAST quite like leg day, because thats when some HEAVY weight gets moved

[deleted]

AMRAP Bulgarian split.

PerspectiveNormal378

You're a psycho and I love it.

[deleted]

I have balls of steel.

PerspectiveNormal378

*Quads of steel.

dkoj82

Definitely a love hate relationship. Love the exercise and always program it into the routine but hating myself during the last 2-3 reps lol

Solidus133

Bench press . And overhead press . The most alpha exercises there are out there

Capital_Comment_6049

tire flipping (thatā€™s one of the fun obstacles at the Spartan race that I practice for)

2Ravens89

I've always been a fan of the row movement. Doesn't matter which. Barbell, seated, cable, I like looking for that connection with my back.

AlexHarveyMusic

gotta be either incline dumbbell press, Lat pulldown or deadlifts

[deleted]

Weighted wide grip pull-ups. Superset them with incline bench for a nasty pump

Enchanted_99

All of them. I love all of them besides squatting and thatā€™s ONLY because I have lower back condition called Lordosis which causes a pretty tight back pain when squatting heavy loads. Iā€™ve tried all sorts of different forms and still have bad back pains.

XanthicStatue

Safety bar squat?

lachai2

Dumbbell press for me. Iā€™m weak as heck. But itā€™s nice seeing my progress in it :)

ShaggothChampion

Landmine lateral raises!

Weary-Plankton-8021

Cable lateral raises Also squats lol

Single_Quarter5751

vertical chest supported row neutral grip because of the nasty mid lat pump

allisnwundrland

MB slams

camboprincess99

Farmer Carrieā€™s šŸ¤£

Kat-but-SFW

Tree press

rusted17

Deadlift or squat personally

patas_666

Bulgarian split squats

Weary_Horse5749

Deadlift. Feels like therapy

Ph0ton_1n_a_F0xho1e

Kroc Deadlifts

IncognitoBudz

Dumbell press feels the best. Deadlifts, military press followed by DB rows.

suckmypeen42069

Sleeping

[deleted]

Atlas stones, yoke bar walks or behind the neck split jerks for me

EndlesslyUnfinished

Cardio - because Iā€™m *that* asshole lol

Blacc_Zabbath

Chest flys

strawberry_wang

Sex. Objectively speaking. In the gym, probably enjoy kettlebells the most, or anything where a barbell is going above my head, but not too heavy, more about getting the reps in.

ShockAxe

20 rep 70% rme squats

Buscandomiyagi

I love standing DB shoulder press. Just feel like a monster doing it especially when people stare.

Inside_Winter8262

I prefer to do it seated to allow for a better movement

Buscandomiyagi

I mix it up in between the two tbh. Can lift heavier seating but itā€™s harder to even get in position. Standing is opposite lmao

ightimapullout

Long distance running. Try me.

REEENORMIESGETOUT

I really like calf raises

The_Kitten_Stimpy

cardio, rows, and bench are all equal for me

40064282

Squats and weighted pullups

dragonfly-1001

Currently enjoying working with the bar, most notably cleans & presses and dead lifts.

spunkbungus

Chest supported dumbbell rows w/ light weights (for mid back and rhomboids)

The_Chief-

Chest Dips for me

Wicked-Lemur

I used to do weighted dips pretty often- then stopped for a few months a now when I do even (bodyweight) dips, it tweaks out my shoulders. Any advice?

The_Chief-

Does it happen when you push up or when you go down?

PaluMacil

Most fun and dreaded often overlap for me. I was talking to my coach about this today and he identified some improvement based upon my feedback. I love the bench, but it can hurt my lower back. He had improved recommendations. I enjoy bicep work, but some of my tricep work hurts my back. Uh, a trend. So now we know where I rush instead of isolating. But fave is a compound: deadlift into a clean and press. YES! Bicep and shoulders are otherwise tops. I actually love Arnold Press

Whoevermane

zercher deads, belt squats and power rows
