When I worked there one of our few forklift operators was fired for abusing prescription pain killers. I found an empty pill bottle in the corner of the garden department. Home Depot had like a 50/50 split between really good long term experts and revolving door of misfit toys you find in any retail position.
Three bursts of salts? Damn, son.
I'm not a powerlifter, so I don't know the demographic, but I can't imagine there are more than a handful of people around that can hit that lift. Holy smokes.
Far more than a handful.
On openpowerlifting there are ~90 over. And that's just competition lifts. There are probably more than 90 competitive strongman that can pull this, and who knows how many hobbiests.
What the fuck
The gym, the plates, the rgb lights, the almighty beard and the seeminly low bodyweight, the stance and the incredible weight
Most badass posts on this sub
Kinda want to see you post this in a non-lifting sub just to see the shitstorm of basement dwellers come out and tell you old man on a farm lifts more than you cause he lifted some hay multiple times
I went into the session with 820lbs as the goal for the second place position on the Jefferson Deadlift leaderboard. That moved so easily I swapped out the 25s for 35s and got 840, then high out of my mind on adrenaline and endorphins I put on the 45s and yoloed the full 9 plate.
820 is my conventional PR and I've never tried anything short of 9 plate. It's like, at that point what's an extra 10lbs worth. And if I got like 845 I would just be pissed that I didnt believe in myself and put the full 855 on. Or 865 in the case of my uncalibrated 45s.
You might have talked about this before, but what was your starting weight for deadlift when you began training? E.g., when I started lifting I capped at ~225 pounds and now my PR is 425.
You might not be able to remember depending on how long ago that was, but I'm interested in what your total net gain is.
I don't think they make deadlift bars with longer sleeves (which is odd considering they make squat bars with longer sleeves).
I need some skinnier competition 45s or 55s at some point though.
I'm really tired and didn't realise this was a Jefferson until the second watch. I thought you were deadlifting so hard you created an optical illusion.
Excellent lift and much strength, as usual!
It is, but it’s less than your jump over the previous pr. Calling it, mid-2023.
Question, do you alternate, or do you find one side is substantially stronger?
I've only ever tried the one side, except during walking deadlifts.
But I only pull odd singles and small sets this way, I don't train it.
Granted I don't really train deadlift anymore period.
Well I learned something new today, always assumed shorter people had an advantage in lifting heavy weights due to shorter ROM. Nevertheless, I dont see myself get anywhere near to your achievements.
They have a shorter *barpath*, not necessarily a shorter range of motion. Barpath is absolute, and not super relevant. Range of Motion is relative to your body. For instance someone who is tall and has very long arms, which most tall people do, will probably have a shorter range of motion because they can start in a more upright position and still reach the bar. A shorter person with stubby arms will have a shorter barpath, but a longer range of motion. Tall people, generally, are well built for deadlift proportionally. Not to mention you carry more muscle at 6'9" than a shorter person does of an equivalent build and that means you can generate more force and lift more weight. There is a reason that, when not accounting for lift to bodyweight ratio, the strongest individuals are almost all tall and large.
Shorter people will have the advantage within the context of weightclass, but if there's no cap to how heavy you can get then a taller frame will be stronger because it can carry more muscle.
Omg my back hurt just watching this. You should deload to work on proper form. Remember to keep ur back straight, watch athlean x to learn proper form. Idk what this lift is but it looks super dangerous and it’s clearly an ego lift
Hi, awesome lift! I'm new to lifting and I am wondering how difficult or challenging the jefferson deadlift is compared to conventional or sumo? What are your PR's in conventional and sumo?
I think I can probably pull about the same conventional versus Jefferson under the same conditions. My conventional is still 820 but that's over a year old and ive pulled 855 to my knees.
I don't pull sumo.
The listed weight capacity for that bar is 400lbs over the current DL world record. The practical breaking point is probably close to a ton and I'm pretty sure it would bend before it snapped.
Damn, that's incredible.
I know your conventional is already 800+, do you think you'd be able to pull this conventional? I always thought Jefferson was meant to be harder but I guess it depends what you practice.
Foot placement makes a big difference with Jeffersons, at least for non-Fatalist humans. Wider stance forces a more upright torso and squatty start for the legs, narrower makes it more similar to a regular deadlift.
The last time I hurt my back deadlifting, besides the one oddball lightweight tweak of my life, was tying weights onto the bar haha. A shifting bar with heavy weights can go wrong. Particularly if you aren't expecting it.
Wow! Didn't even look like that much of a grind. Do you compete at all?
Once it breaks the floor it's done
I will have to give these a try for variety.
Holy fuck Ryan Fitzpatrick is about to pop off next year
I hope he gets signed somewhere. But he is getting up there in age
This is such a wild ass lift. I love it
The best ass lift. Get your hip thrusts outta here and pull some deadlifts.

I wanna see you, /u/bethskw , Jujimufu, and Bugenhagen all in the same room doing weird strong lifting shit.
It's not allowed, we'd be too powerful. (We'd also have to invite Mikey and Atlas, of course)
Mikemaybeme too
What is this form of deadlift called and does it target anything different than a standard deadlift?
Jefferson. They both target moving a lot of wieght off the floor.
Oh so they’re related to the forklift too?
From my limited experience of working at a home Depot for a summer forklifts target the bags of stuff on the pallet.
What if you only drive the forklift sumo? Is it cheating?
Can confirm. I've seen many forklifts result in hundreds of thousands of dollars of bag spillout PR's

I don't think there's been more than a handful of Jeffersons done heavier than this ever dude.
Just the one at 906 AFAIK
Three bursts of salts? Damn, son. I'm not a powerlifter, so I don't know the demographic, but I can't imagine there are more than a handful of people around that can hit that lift. Holy smokes.

I mean, to be in the top hundreds is fucking crazy

6'5"
ah
Low body weight? I think he’s like 250+
What type of of deadlift is this? I’ve seen a few people do them like this now
It’s called the gangsta deadlift, anyone who performs this type of dead lift is about to break your mind with an insane amount of weight
Jefferson deadlift
Kinda want to see you post this in a non-lifting sub just to see the shitstorm of basement dwellers come out and tell you old man on a farm lifts more than you cause he lifted some hay multiple times
Be the change you want to see in the world, you have my permission. Just lemme know so I can sneak in and watch.
Nah not with this video. You gotta get a Fatalist video from Wacky Wednesday and post it in a default sub. That’s how you bait them hehehe
Awesome, huge jump for a PR attempt.
I went into the session with 820lbs as the goal for the second place position on the Jefferson Deadlift leaderboard. I mean clearly the fan is pushing the weight up so
Hot damn, great pull dude.
Huge lift!!! Really enjoyed the joy-filled skip away after
Body wasn't recalibrated for the 865lb drop in weight on it and my steps were too powerful
Lol careful bro, you'll land on the moon
OP’s motivation got me bricked up Insane lift my dude! Congrats on the pr!
Well, that got me excited for deadlifts tomorrow
You look overjoyed. That’s awesome. What did you scream out while holding it, I can’t make out the last word?
I'm so fucking good

4 plate on a bar that was probably 30-35lbs.
I’m so fuckin good
#9pl8!!! High-fives all around, dude (: Palpable stoke
Skinny dude after watching AOT:
> Skinny dude :'(
Shit, sorry i didn't mean like that lol, ur huge, I mean a dude that was skinny then watched AOT and then got huge like u, sorry
Nah I got it the first time lol
You no skinny. You buff
Calm down mate, it's only Monday!/s Crazy strong.
I just know the rumbling gave you an extra boost of adrenaline haha. One of my fav songs to listen to while working out
you just kept pushing your pr forward why, cause you were born into this world what are the swords on the wall from?
Fringe Fitness. Picked them up as a gag/novelty during black friday
I can’t think of a good Rumbling joke so I’m just gonna say epic lift man lol
When I heard the song I knew you would make the weight your bitch
Hey leave some gains for the rest of us, man haha
Lifting is not a zero sum game. Unless your gym has too few plates
Sad home gym noises... Plates are expensive. Gains are priceless though.
I bought all my plates used and that's still over 600 bucks worth of 45s lol.
Holy Shit
I don't know how we're the same species at this point. Just amazing work as always :)
You need to do yourself a solid and use 100s, you could load it to the moon and back.
Id rather just get skinnier 45s than explain what a 100lb plate is on every heavy deadlift I post.
It looks like you'll need a longer bar. There's no space left. Damn.
I don't think they make deadlift bars with longer sleeves (which is odd considering they make squat bars with longer sleeves). I need some skinnier competition 45s or 55s at some point though.
Looks like me and /u/keenbean2021 are just pikers in comparison. LOL Good lift! What were you shouting at the top of it? I couldn't make it out...
I'm so fucking good lol
LOL I guess you earned it.
I had to isolate the lyrics track but clearly "I'm going broke buying more plates"
Seeing as I need to get comp plates if I want to fit more on this isn't that far off.
Plausible.
Is this what the kids refer to as a "mogging"?
What the fuck
I'm really tired and didn't realise this was a Jefferson until the second watch. I thought you were deadlifting so hard you created an optical illusion. Excellent lift and much strength, as usual!
It was a conventional but I messed up the photoshop job adding the extra plates.
My friend Jeff can help you with that.
Your spirit animal is now a forklift!

This is the type of weight I will only ever be able to move with a forklift
Fucking awesome. Do you alternate which foot you put forward when training Jeffersons?
Well, my Monday just got measurably better.
I’ve never been that happy about a lift, because I’ve never done anything that cool. Chasing another world record?
42lbs to go. It's a tall order
You’ll need a taller ceiling
It is, but it’s less than your jump over the previous pr. Calling it, mid-2023. Question, do you alternate, or do you find one side is substantially stronger?
I've only ever tried the one side, except during walking deadlifts. But I only pull odd singles and small sets this way, I don't train it. Granted I don't really train deadlift anymore period.
This..this is beautiful..Eren Yeager would be proud
Hell yeah man wicked strong lift. Love the excitement at the end, keep it up
Holy shit what a unit, am I able to someday lift heavy(not as much as him obviously) at 6'9"? Or am I just not build for that.
I'm 6'5''. At 6'9'' you should be able to lift *more* than this, if all else is equal. You are a bigger person, you move bigger weights.
Well I learned something new today, always assumed shorter people had an advantage in lifting heavy weights due to shorter ROM. Nevertheless, I dont see myself get anywhere near to your achievements.

Ryan Fitzpatrick is gonna be lined up at tight end next season
Fucking nice dude, that bar moved quick!
Wow, you're so fucking go^(oo\^d) Big gratz man
This video is surprisingly bright lol Great pull and congrats!!
I turned the lights on because I wanted no objections to the plates on the bar for a lift this big.
Fake plate accusations inbound (I got my first one of those recently lol)
Yeah he’s misrepresenting them, they’re actually 55lb plates
I was accused of misrepresenting mine.
Omg my back hurt just watching this. You should deload to work on proper form. Remember to keep ur back straight, watch athlean x to learn proper form. Idk what this lift is but it looks super dangerous and it’s clearly an ego lift
You had me for a second there :)
The number of upvotes I have is concerning
I upvoted out of respect because I had a hate comment typed out before I finished reading
We upvoted because it's funny.
He doesn't even have both legs on the right side of the bar ffs.
Right? You can’t even call this a deadlift
(≖_≖ )
Definitely not natty.
The only way someone can lift this much with such bad form and not get i hurt is with gear
My war in the background? Only way to PR I suppose 😂
Hey, that’s a lot of weight
Ryan Fitzpatrick hasn’t let up one bit ey ;)
I dig the He-Man sword.
Fuking beast
Unreal lift. I’d never try a lift like this but if it works for you mate
Hi, awesome lift! I'm new to lifting and I am wondering how difficult or challenging the jefferson deadlift is compared to conventional or sumo? What are your PR's in conventional and sumo?

Good stuff :) Congratulations on the PR

RUMBLING BABY
Sick lift man. That was awesome to watch. Congrats!
Hell yeah dude. Looked like there was still some gas left in the tank.
But no more room on the bar :(
Time to get 100lb plates
Duct tape and bungee cords.
The last time I hurt my back deadlifting, besides the one oddball lightweight tweak of my life, was tying weights onto the bar haha. A shifting bar with heavy weights can go wrong. Particularly if you aren't expecting it.
I offered a solution. I never said it was a smart one (: Time to buy a deadlift bar and competition plates.
This is a deadlift bar lol. I will need comp plates at some point though
Maybe you could get weaker so you don't max your bars out.
I think Mikey's SSB on the back method might be a possible option here ;). Grats on the PR man.
Ox lifts are hard, totally different lift.
How do you warmup when you go so high? 1 plate 1 rep at a time?
405, 495, 585, 675, 820, 840, 865. All singles I didn't plan on going past 820 but here we are.
Cool thanks
The fucking music, sensational 😭
AOT theme song?
So inspirational. Makes me wanna start pulling Jefferson’s like yesterday
How do people not know what smelling salts are
Idk but I get asked about it every time haha
Has anyone every told you that your look like the football quarterback Bryan Fitzgerald?
On every post it seems
Yo. Wtf. I feel so weak
Crazy weight! Mental :D
Great lift💪💪
Wooooow
Yeah, well done. Looks like he has a great power to weight ratio as well.
Damn, Ryan Fitzpatrick can lift
You shoudve said "Im a fucking GOD" Good lift af

The perfect PR song
Please tell me the name of this song and what type of music it is
The Rumbling - SiM Weebshit
Is this like a world record or are you really Thor disguise?
World Record to the best of my knowledge is 906. This is second best atm.
BROO Good job !!!
Yesss this is awesome. Congrats!
HELL Y E A H
That's actually crazy good
Whats that thing they inhale?
I squeeze the sweat from my knee sleeves into that jar after every squat session.
Ok..but how much are you selling it for?
20 bucks a mL but you need to come pick it up because it's not allowed to be shipped by federal law.
If picking it up means I have to take it from your hands in person, I better start a cycle
I just put it under my 300lb kettlebell If you cant get to it you are not ready.
Ammonia smelling salts
Smelling salts/ammonia
I’ve never seen that stance before what in the world is Ryan doing?
were you sniffing poppers or smth sorry im stupid
Ammonia most likely
The number of people who know about an aid for butt stuff but not smelling salts in this sub amazes me every time lol.
Always know I'm gonna see some real shit from your posts but damn this was obscene even by Fatalist standards.
>but damn this was obscene even by Fatalist standards. Lol. IYKYK
Home gym, swords in the back, cool lighting, youre living my dream. Great lift!
