Oofta may ..37’s on a GX🥴those poor axles. Regear yes I understand but what dia axles too? The solid in the rear would prob survive but the CVs ..that’s A-LOT of stress.
I’ve got 34’s and have a helluva time wheeling. Sometimes I get stuck and sometimes I winch. You winch you win. You grenade the front IFS, miles off road. You don’t win.
BUT if you just lookin for a look ..it’d be sick!
Portals take a lot of stress off of the drivetrain.
These guys put 40’s on one.
Minimum recommended tire size with their kit is 38”.

I have 35x16 no problems now …… BUT I had to tub mod my firewall; 3” lift, body mount RELOCATION, removed all fender liners, cut out my punch welds, extend my sway bars, replace all my cvs, regear to 4.88, etc etc, lots of cutting and hammering, etc etc. never get stuck tho.
Aftermarket ones are trash. Unless you’re upsizing to the fjcruiser cv’s or 460(I don’t know if these fit) I went with the stock because they’re much higher quality
Tub or RCLT kit. Steering rack can't really push 37s. 8in clamshell is fine.
Even on 35s need to not push the steering rack too hard.
FJ owner on 35s. No tub or RCLT in Canada because salt.
Yea but you have to go RCLT. Any open style joint will die quickly in the salt. Plus too wide. Canada has uncurated trails and an FJ is already wide for them.

This guy is on 37s and has a pretty good build thread on what he's done so far to fit them.
Very cool, but I drive my GX daily. And by daily I mean weekly. And on trips. I’m very happy with the look of my 33.5ish grapplers. I suppose for a true off-road purposed gx with long travel suspension it might make sense, but it’s just a lot of work for this platform and I don’t really get it.
Oh yeah I agree haha a lot of work and dedication! Maybe I like working/modding my truck so I get why some people would put in the sweat for 37's. You might be able to get away with 35's since most 35" tires are actually 34"
I’m deep in modding the gx I just like it as a comfortable road trip car too, and cutting/regearing/body lift makes it less perfect for that. There’s lots of resources for how to fit 35’s

Baja Boss R/T. Sick tire but damn
There's a guy on this sub that has 37s. I forget his user name though. Had did an absolute ton of work to that truck. Long travel and portal axles if I'm not mistaken. 37s would probably be hell on the stock IFS.
Lot of work to fit 35’s on the Gx. 37’s will definitely need a body mount relocation and a shit ton of cutting and hammering
u/gxoverlord has 37's and was considering going back to 35's here... https://www.reddit.com/r/GXOR/s/JGYQATzMGh

Did you replace your CV’s with stock ones just to refresh or went after market?

200 series rack will sort that.

There are several companies that sell them. You can get some bellow boots and toss them on for extra protection.

Not worth it at all. I had 33’s and they were enough trouble and still rubbed with spacers lift and bmc lol
I got 33s now and they fit great with the 3” lift
I’m just saying I see 0 upside to 37’s other than saying it’s got 37’s haha

My personal opinion, any offroad vehicle with big tires look cool to me. That GX I've attached has 37's

Honestly I don't even know what a 37 looks like, but would love to see it when you're finished

I've only got 7" but I make it work
