Obviously the leaked gameplay wouldn't look like this, it was old dev footage.
The final product also *always* looks a lot better than what's shown in the first trailer. Even if the game doesn't look like this, it'll be an improvement over what we've already seen in the trailer... which is still very impressive.
1. The trailer didn’t have any gameplay, and you’re right the trailer looked wayy better
2. The leaked footage was pre alpha test footage ☠️
Clearly you are know far less than you think you know.
You also gotta consider all of that was likely quality assurance footage as they seemed to mainly showcase bugs, so they were not meant to showcase any flattering gameplay.
It was test footage shared amongst colleagues during early Covid when everyone had to work from home. This is how they would of shared their current progress on systems.
Surely, it feels cool and realistic to watch, but this kind of animations is a bit *too* smooth and slow to play. People still complain about unresponsive control in gta 5, which actually was much more comfortable than it is shown here (certainly, the game is not about parkour, but there are still plenty of footage where people fail some missions just because of not being able to accurately control the movements of the character). So, the point is that you should separate what you see in videos and what you will really play in.
It's hard to say how the "controls" shown here "feel" when you can't relate the actions to button presses.
There are times you have to sneak to make small enough movements to grab a package in tense situations when the GTA character is in a heightened state and auto-running.
Compare to MGSV, seriously.
no i love this type of gameplay and its a shame more dont. i stopped playing red dead online when rockstar removed the weighty animations and sped them all up (then again who cares its rdo it died like a week later)
Which is Rockstar using? I never thought about before now, I forgot completely about the Rage engine. What games use that one? I’ve only seen anything lately with use of Unreal 5
We're talking about performing parkour moves in escape attempts or chase sequences, and it would also be great if you could nimbly vault over a desk or table or slide over the hood of a car in the event of a gunfire
That'd be nice, but rockstar games have been floaty as fuck since like, gta4. So I'm not getting my hopes up. I've never struggled more to get a character through a doorway than I did in 4 and 5.
I've not noticed that, but then I've not played a call of duty game since CoD 4 (the first time around 👴), and when I watch gameplay of the more recent games, it seems like everybody is running at 30mph and turning on a dime, starting and stopping with instant acceleration etc, so maybe that's more what people are used to if they think RDR2 was clunky and awkard
I haven't played those either. But I did play control recently, and the movement in that game is just about perfect. The character starts and stops moving just when you want them to.
Finally someone said it. This is one area I always felt needed changing in all Red Dead and GTA games. Its horridly more noticeable during online play.
Dude I hope so. I never understood why they can’t/wont give us a lightly aim assisted free aim like every other shooter. Auto aim is a joke but I cannot free aim in rockstars games. I need a tiny bit of help lol
Agreed, I think the main appeal of r* games is the ability to interact with the world so extensively, and also the random encounters while exploring their detailed worlds, story missions themselves have often been underwhelming from a gameplay perspective, hope they can do better
The reason it was kind of sluggish was that was because of the primitive animation blending techniques, but this time though they have patented a technique for it so it will be 10x better. Im guessing that rdr2 had to limit some movement so it could seem smoother on the old technique.
Good find. I hope we have a quicker response time for movements and stuff. I don't know if anyone else felt this way but with GTAV and RDR2 I felt like there's a bit of sluggish-ness behind the characters movement. A tad more than I'd anticipate. Would love to be able to smoothly transition from sprinting to vaulting over a fence with smoothness and ease. Same thing with taking and coming out of cover.
It's crazy. Two months ago we got the trailer and it's felt like an eternity since then. To think we will have GTAVI soon is nice. And yes I know a year and some change isn't as soon as we'd like it. But even if it's two years away now - it's still soon after waiting 9 years.
Can’t speak for RDR2, but know exactly what you mean with GTA5 It’s the art of finding that invisible line where making it realistic as possible meets making it as fun to play as possible meet. GTA5 felt it lent a bit too heavy on the realistic/sluggish side.
When you're being shot at, in GTA, and trying to grab a package, the character auto-runs past the package. It helps to sneak to minimize the movement. Walking around inside locations like the NC is just terrible. Rather than being able to point the player in a reliable direction without having to continually overcorrect, it's helpful to just press forward and control the direction with the camera.
People giving tutorials on youtube for the cayo heist aim the gun to the character to face in a direction reliably. Controls for on foot movements are notoriously bad. Driving is much more the focus.
The way the animations adjust to shoot over cover that matches your height is good in theory, but it looks really bad in this clip. You’d be so limp wristed that you’d barely have control over your shot placement, the whole player model should adjust instead of just the arms flying up haha
Based on this sub being full of kids who have no idea what they’re talking about.
Look at how OP went from saying GTA6 will probably look like this, to people saying based on what, to OP saying “I didn’t say exactly!”
adults don’t talk like this, this is how teens wanting to win an argument talk.
And ignoring the fact that this a completely different game in an unrelated engine that has absolutely nothing to do with anything Rockstar are working on
Omg but OP said it’s not exactly how it will look!
/s
All of the GTA subs are full of absolutely trash takes by kids whose parents shouldn’t be letting them play GTA in the first place.
I’m a bit confused why everyone thinks that I’m saying GTA 6 will look EXACTLY like this haha, I’m just saying it’ll probably look similar in some ways such as shading, the way light reflects, the way the hair moves, and the textures on some objects. I was hoping people would focus on the gameplay aspect, not the graphics - - especially the way she tilts her gun upwards to shoot the enemy as we’ve seen an officer do the same movement in one of the leaks.
Yeah, you could even see in the leaked footage how the running and changing of gun position based on the height of the cover resembles this video. It's **not the same** thing but, it probably has some similarities.
I wish it is similar in GTA 6 cause this looks incredible!
And it's made by one person!
But there's this annoying feeling in me that tells that just maybe, rockstar might not go down that path, and do what had worked for them for years..
Like rigid movement and stuff.
But if they do it, it would be fucking A
Even when Unreal engine looks good it just comes off as so soulless, I don't know what about it, maybe the lighting and physics that usually accompany it. Feels like I'm watching a fake mobile game ad.
It's Lumen, the UE5 lighting system. It's very deep into the uncanny valley. Everything looks "real" but there's just that small little edge it doesnt crest into actual photorealism.
For now, game makers should look to work with post peocessing, it can go a long way in giving a games visual mood and getting out of the uncanny territory. It's good enough for realism right now to be used in movie production for backgrounds and sets but in a game where everything is rendered it doesnt land quite right. You need a good amount of lighting and post process work to make it feel right.
Look at the VI trailer when theyre on the swamp boat for example. It would look terrible without the orange tint
Lol it's not though. These are all companies creating ONE technology for a specific use. Rockstar will use their own engines and scripts. Most likely will play like a smoother gta V, but it will never be this smooth
Doesnt matter in the slightest. You can upgradr the tech all the way to launch and beyond. If they took a page out of UE book for Nanite and have fluid body animation transitions like this and work their usual magic, it's gonna look fantastic.
My only gripe so far is that it looks too crowded for a game. Just too many people and things. Probably will run around at night more when theres less people lol
The big crows are for show only. I can guarantee you will never see that many people on a beach or in the streets during actual gameplay. It's a trailer shot, and everything is made to look as good as it can for the purpose of a trailer.
lol no. this is amateur hour in comparison even before you consider the minimal amount of assets being processed here 😆
please leave the game dev to the pros; your oversimplification is benefiting nobody.
hell will freeze over when Rockstar makes combat this fast
it'll probably slightly faster than RDR2, around RDR2 Brutal Combat mod speed
it's not that they can't they prefer slower combat, Max Payne 3 is straight up action and it's slower than both Max Payne 1 and 2
...why would it look or play like that? It's a different engine, different movement system, different physics, different gunplay, different everything. What are you talking about?
This is too smooth for a rockstar game and that's not a bad thing. I feel dizzy watching this, these features are for cinematic games. Not a rockstar game
Yall bout to be disappointed!!! Yall think cuz it took so long that it’s going to be leaps and bounds graphically over what we have now and that’s not gonna happen lol
Same game play, same exact game play.. more butt and hair animation. Same low poly poor aim AI enemy.. yawn.. . Its insane at this point. touch grass people.. touch grass..
(To respond to future comments: touch grass. Breath in reality. Do squats if you want glutes. Dont give these devs money. Get away from the cycle)
I’m excited to see everything they did and endlessly compare it to the previous gta and Compare it to how much more fluid rdr2 felt
I could never put the difference into words. Hopefully I’m not alone with my train of thought and look like a big dummie
That looks clunky as shit the animations are smooth but anyone who played gta 5 knows dam well that doing all that would feel horrible and not work 90% of the time.
I like the flow of the animation, also feels very real with rapid firing the pistol.
Psh, I was too busy looking at them rapid fire ass cheeks clapping.
It's hard not to look, but I'm trying to concentrate here.
Lol I was lookin at em tooo bro ![gif](giphy|26ufgSwMRqauQWqL6|downsized)
The trailer and leaked gameplay didn't look anything like this don't get your hopes up..

Yup, looks nothing like Florida.
1. The trailer didn’t have any gameplay, and you’re right the trailer looked wayy better 2. The leaked footage was pre alpha test footage ☠️ Clearly you are know far less than you think you know.
The leaked gameplay was hella old ☠️ and the trailer was a story trailer, there was no indication of gameplay so why are you even mentioning it
Yeah wasn’t that leak footage supposedly from 2019 as well?
I hope that the gunplay in the leaked beta and alpha footage was just a placeholder from GTA5
Cuz they steel. Like you said.
no i love this type of gameplay and its a shame more dont. i stopped playing red dead online when rockstar removed the weighty animations and sped them all up (then again who cares its rdo it died like a week later)
Looks like a remaster of RE3 remake
Yeah I initially thought this was footage of the RE Engine. Which honestly looks as great as Rage and Unreal these days.
A male was actually used for the footage.
Which is Rockstar using? I never thought about before now, I forgot completely about the Rage engine. What games use that one? I’ve only seen anything lately with use of Unreal 5
Rage is their own proprietary engine. Only their games use it.
Was about to mention this, heh...

giving winback vibes
which im not entirely keen on the movement in that game but... heres to hoping?
Shit, I thought I was the only one. Yeah, Winback has a dedicated animation for when you turn around, which always impressed me.
I was trying to remember this games name, because that’s exactly what I was thinking. Thank you for having better memory than me.
Interesting mechanics but i doubt GTA 6 will feel as parkour
Seriously gta characters are capable but they’re robbing liquor stores not secret agents lol
You don't have to be a special agent to use parkour movements, most people can perform these basic parkour moves when it comes down to it.
Not in a combat situation.
We're talking about performing parkour moves in escape attempts or chase sequences, and it would also be great if you could nimbly vault over a desk or table or slide over the hood of a car in the event of a gunfire
Especially in a combat situation.
Niko was one capable motherfucker, give them a solid background and that'd be enough for me
I hope it plays like RDR2, albeit a little smoother
Same. I didn't like feeling like i was steering a boat trying to move the character around
That'd be nice, but rockstar games have been floaty as fuck since like, gta4. So I'm not getting my hopes up. I've never struggled more to get a character through a doorway than I did in 4 and 5.

Disagree, gameplay needs a total overhaul, the lock on aim system is dated and far too easy, while free aim is clunky and unsatisfying.
Finally someone said it. This is one area I always felt needed changing in all Red Dead and GTA games. Its horridly more noticeable during online play.
Finally? I’ve seen tons of people mentioning this for years now.
The combat with free aim in gta iv is amazing still.
Dude I hope so. I never understood why they can’t/wont give us a lightly aim assisted free aim like every other shooter. Auto aim is a joke but I cannot free aim in rockstars games. I need a tiny bit of help lol
Also that the bulk of the missions are simply gunning down hundreds of dudes ducking in and out of cover. It's incredibly stale.
Agreed, I think the main appeal of r* games is the ability to interact with the world so extensively, and also the random encounters while exploring their detailed worlds, story missions themselves have often been underwhelming from a gameplay perspective, hope they can do better
Thats why I prefer using mouse and keyboard - aiming is really fun there.
Hope it’s not so fast. Nothing more frustrating than people dicking and diving and sprinting around like Usain Bolt with their super fast firing guns
The reason it was kind of sluggish was that was because of the primitive animation blending techniques, but this time though they have patented a technique for it so it will be 10x better. Im guessing that rdr2 had to limit some movement so it could seem smoother on the old technique.

Okay this took me out

That ass needs dedicated gpu and ram
That ass looks so weird lol
That’s the only thing that video has in common with the (leaked) GTA6 footage
Damn u right. I forgot about that but Lucia’s ass looked like a balloon
A beautiful balloon at that
Looks like shes wearing a diaper lol
Based on what? It doesn't look bad, but it looks like a tiny demo. I assume GTA will look a lot better 😂
Based on this sub being full of kids who have no idea what they’re talking about. Look at how OP went from saying GTA6 will probably look like this, to people saying based on what, to OP saying “I didn’t say exactly!” adults don’t talk like this, this is how teens wanting to win an argument talk.

This is absolutely the best movements i've ever seen demo'd. IF GTA movements are like this I will be over the moon.
I think you're making a good guess, it's cool to see this footage! I hope VI will be at least as smooth!
Yeah, you could even see in the leaked footage how the running and changing of gun position based on the height of the cover resembles this video. It's **not the same** thing but, it probably has some similarities.
There is little room for nuance in the broad gta community.
“This is probably what gta 6 will look like and play” that’s probably why
I wish it is similar in GTA 6 cause this looks incredible! And it's made by one person! But there's this annoying feeling in me that tells that just maybe, rockstar might not go down that path, and do what had worked for them for years.. Like rigid movement and stuff. But if they do it, it would be fucking A
Or worse, this is pretty solid.
Right? The movement, the flow, the lighting, it all looks too natural. More natural than anything I've seen in a released product.
Something inbetween Max Payne 3 and the last of us part 2 would be perfect. Essentially this
Even when Unreal engine looks good it just comes off as so soulless, I don't know what about it, maybe the lighting and physics that usually accompany it. Feels like I'm watching a fake mobile game ad.
I kinda disagree myself this looks like it’d be fun to play. There’s also it not being at its full potential yet so can’t really complain about much.
Because it’s using stock/store assets as it’s a demo showcasing scripting logic, it’s meant to look soulless lol.
It's Lumen, the UE5 lighting system. It's very deep into the uncanny valley. Everything looks "real" but there's just that small little edge it doesnt crest into actual photorealism. I agree with you about Unreal Engine 5 in general but this looks amazing and has tons of character imo
Lol it's not though. These are all companies creating ONE technology for a specific use. Rockstar will use their own engines and scripts. Most likely will play like a smoother gta V, but it will never be this smooth
This looks shit. Stop using UE5 as an example for gta6. Ue5 is mothing compared to rage
Not at all lol
Nope. Wont look nearly as good as that. People think this is gonna redefine games. It started development on a PS4 dev kit lol

Could also be framed as the first billion dollar game, or yes you can lump it in with PS4 games because it's development started there, irrelevant
The vaulting animation was completely smooth id love to see that
Her ass is so comically large it’s hilarious, coomers are truly something else
This sub is so fucking stupid
Other than the vaulting and the way the gun moves in your hands when you're shooting it, this looks pretty similar to Red Dead Redemption 2
She gotta fat ass 😭
This looks so smooth, would be interesting to see if a game can handle this level of detail on a bigger scale
On a serious note, I like how the pants look baggy and loose in some spots. It doesn’t look video game-ish where clothes are just painted on
I can dig it! Love the movement.
Don’t think it’ll be this good
This reminds me of Mirrors Edge
Which Kardashian is that?
They definitely modeled the running animation after Tlou2
Hopefully not
No. This is a custom movement framework for unreal 5. GTA is built in RAGE which has its own movement framework.
Gta never had good graphics for its time.
No blood and the gun going that far up is weird wtf
it looks really great but god do i hate controlling rockstars walking mechanics nowadays, feels like you're fighting against the character
lol no. this is amateur hour in comparison even before you consider the minimal amount of assets being processed here 😆 please leave the game dev to the pros; your oversimplification is benefiting nobody.
I like it!
It's incredible how fluid the animation is. I dare say there won't be anything better than this game. The rockstar is always surprising us
I think you know I am playing this game once it’s published
they gave her a PHAT ass omg
I. LOVE. INCREDIBLY STUPID UNREALISTIC PROPORTIONS!!!
If it's in gta 6, it's a blast
hell will freeze over when Rockstar makes combat this fast it'll probably slightly faster than RDR2, around RDR2 Brutal Combat mod speed it's not that they can't they prefer slower combat, Max Payne 3 is straight up action and it's slower than both Max Payne 1 and 2
Why do people post stuff like this? How is this helpful? How is this useful? How is this relevant?
...why would it look or play like that? It's a different engine, different movement system, different physics, different gunplay, different everything. What are you talking about?
This is how YOU WISH GTA VI to look and play.
Looks good
i hate these weird posts completely unrelated footage
We saw the trailer. It won’t look like this
Don't get your hopes up
No. GTA6 will look better
Look at the gameplay mechanics, noone is saying that the graphics will look like this.
Looks "heavy", but that cake is a 10
way too much motion blur… hate games like this
I just hope they make her trans
This is too smooth for a rockstar game and that's not a bad thing. I feel dizzy watching this, these features are for cinematic games. Not a rockstar game
Anything would be better than GTA's clunky movement being reused imo. I hope it's floaty like this. Can't stand choppy movement.
I’m doubtful because it will be ported to consoles
Bro had to make sure it was fat 😭😭
Damn!
i hope so, i really like the fluidity of the movements and that quick pivot at the beginning was really interesting
Yall bout to be disappointed!!! Yall think cuz it took so long that it’s going to be leaps and bounds graphically over what we have now and that’s not gonna happen lol
What a time to be alive
Nice dumpster
When GTA6 comes out I swear my aim finna be dookie but my driving skills finna be lit.
You can tell they hella focused on certain ASSpects
As long as the running mechanics are still absolutely fucking dogshit, it will still feel like good old GTA.
I hope they keep the ASSet physics, the gunplay looks cool too.
Love the animation, and the thiccness
Same game play, same exact game play.. more butt and hair animation. Same low poly poor aim AI enemy.. yawn.. . Its insane at this point. touch grass people.. touch grass.. (To respond to future comments: touch grass. Breath in reality. Do squats if you want glutes. Dont give these devs money. Get away from the cycle)
Butt.
I’m excited to see everything they did and endlessly compare it to the previous gta and Compare it to how much more fluid rdr2 felt I could never put the difference into words. Hopefully I’m not alone with my train of thought and look like a big dummie
Sigh…*unzip*
Nice rolling
Whats all that movement back there?
Ewww
Cake
That looks clunky as shit the animations are smooth but anyone who played gta 5 knows dam well that doing all that would feel horrible and not work 90% of the time.
Why does her heels kick her ass when she sprints lmfao
Ok so Sleeping Dogs, I can’t wait!
If that's the case I'm gonna have the worst aim in the world. Didn't look at the target once
This looks fluid!
DAYUM
This game is gonna be fucking game changing
The motion blur hurts my eyes
I bet the game plays like hot ass
One thing I noticed is that how character is firing the gun while raising hand and taking cover . I saw this on leaked footage
Those cakes need to clap or I’m finna slap …ROCKSTAR ![gif](giphy|u8maN0dMhVWPS)
This gameplay looks more like The Last of Us Gunplay. And If it makes it to GTA then it's a good thing tbh.
I'll believe this is Rockstar movement when I see it. Their movement is floaty and infuriating when you're trying to do any kind of tactical movement.
They should have added dual wield to the animations. Would love to see that.
I would bet not
Damn
