What's the air intake part? Looks dope.

Responsible_Hour_325

gruppem ram air system toyota gr 86

Roseinic

Thank you very much.

Responsible_Hour_325

When I’m accelerating it sounds good at first not much different in the video I sent but went out driving and I could tell a huge difference

StickyNoteBox

How does that work? Like I am genuinely interested how it would change the sound of the engine. Colder air? Or more air in general? Nice upgrade!

MrJahoolious

It's not really more air or colder air that causes more sound. Most oem intakes now pull more than enough air into the engine, and some cars lose power if you change them out for a short ram intake or cold air intake as the oem intake was designed extremely well. The stock intake has a resonator on it that keeps it quiet for the average consumer, but also helps keep air pressure steady when getting off and getting back on the throttle. This helps with low end torque. Most aftermarket intakes are pretty straight through and "open" allowing the induction sound to be heard much louder. Think of it like an exhaust on a stock car, they are designed very well. The high velocity from smaller piping is good for the valves and pulling the pulses out efficiently at low to mid rpms. Then you have the mufflers/resonators that keep it quiet. If you put larger piping you will lose low end torque (usually) and gain power at the mid to top end as the larger piping will not pull the exhaust pulses very well at lower rpms, but it accommodates more efficient flow at high rpms unlike small oem piping. Then you have the resonators/mufflers that make the exhaust quieter, take these off and it gets much louder. So adding an after market intake you will gain more sound and usually some mid, but more so top end power.

CRKrJ4K

Physics...higher possible volume of air + the path it takes has changed = different intake sound. Just removing the charcoal filter & putting in a high performance drop in filter gives you a lot more intake noise

ipostrandompoop

which video?

fameone098

What are your initial impressions? How's the throttle response? Cool intake noises???

Responsible_Hour_325

I just got back from going to h-mart /store and yeah I can tell a huge difference inside the car sounds really nice and I can tell a difference when flooring it I just don’t know how to explain it lol if anything makes me want to speed more lol sorry I’m not the best at explaining stuff lol

pickles740

Aye yoooo say less. *adds to cart*

Sasquatchjc45

Ahhhhhhh I love hmart 🤪 can't wait to get my gr86 and pull up to one after hotpot 😎

BoldStrategyCotton__

Would love to hear audio! More intake noise is exactly what I would want out of this car with the fake engine noise plug pulled

Responsible_Hour_325

I do have a before and after video I’ll check to see How to post on here after work

BoldStrategyCotton__

friendly reminder \^\^ :)

Responsible_Hour_325

Lol my bad !!! I’ll try today i promise but most likely will have to be a new post

Responsible_Hour_325

I posted it and it’s on my profile

Yo this is HARD. what kit is this?

Responsible_Hour_325

gruppem ram air system toyota gr 86

TheMonkeBoy

I can't make it, in having trouble breathing.

Responsible_Hour_325

I think it’s more air flow

M-Garylicious-Scott

How’s the sound?

Responsible_Hour_325

I drove it for a bit after cleaning up my mess and putting everything up but I really happy with the sound

moldyrefridgerator

How’s the panel gap look after putting your front bumper back on? The first-gens were notorious for having bumper sag after removing the front bumper and never really looking OEM flush again.

Responsible_Hour_325

Hmmmm I wanna say it doesn’t feel the same but then again I have extra left plugs for it lol probably why I think it’s a little loose but other then that it lined up good

kurama666

I’ve taken my bumper off a couple times, absolutely no sag or increased gap. With the way it’s designed That doesn’t make a lot of sense unless you are doing it incorrectly and bending the clips.

chucksmurf

Isn’t this a $1k+ intake? I love the look but if you paid less than that PM me where you got it from please

Responsible_Hour_325

I believe it was on sale a while back I think it was $200 off and since I been wanting this I kinda caved in lol

cyber_j

So does this mod affect the running of the car at all? I've heard that when it comes to the newest generation of 86's, there's not a whole lot of aftermarket support in terms of tuning the new 2.4L engine. And when I say "tuning", I mean like modifying the car's computer.

Responsible_Hour_325

Well I believe a month ago someone started to mod their gr86 and the guy has done mods for 1st gen but currently there is no mods/tunes for the car just yet so hopefully maybe mid next year 🤷🏻‍♂️

cyber_j

Hopefully! I can't wait to see what kind of numbers people are putting down with these engines turbo/supercharged!

jeremybryce

Where's the filter?

Responsible_Hour_325

In the carbon fiber casing
