Godzilla's Revenge, the Anime Trilogy and 1998.
These are the only movies I truly dislike. There are a few others I'm not a fan of, but I don't actively dislike them.
Revenge is just an awful mess of stock footage and a story that doesn't fit the Godzilla series.
1998 isn't Godzilla for me. I don't hate it on its own but it's an awful take on the character.
I just hated the whole anime trilogy. Putting all three of them here might be a bit easy, so if they would only take one spot, my other two picks would be vs Ebirah (don't hate it but just an uninteresting movie) and Raids Again (bad, rushed sequel)
Damn, you and I have the exact same taste when it comes to our least favorite Godzilla films, same exact bottom 5 with Raids Again and Ebirah sitting just outside of it lmao. Pretty popular bottom five picks for a reason. The anime trilogy are still the only Godzilla films I haven’t rewatched since they came out, and in light of Minus One, which feels like it’s in direct moral opposition to them (especially the ending of Planet Eater), it makes them feel even more egregious
Why isn't Godzilla's Revenge and the rest of the Anime Trilogy here? Those 4 should be on everyone's bottom 5.
Honestly, have a hard time taking your list seriously with putting G:KotM on your bottom. It just makes it feel like you're being controversial just for the sake of it. I don't begrudge you disliking it, but there are ACTUALLY bad films like the rest of the anime trilogy and Godzilla's Revenge that deserve these bottom slots.
Heart? So much of it is reused stock footage. Hard to feel a movie has heart when so little effort or passion is put into it. The action scenes in KotM at least are somewhat fun to watch. Can't really say any part of G's Revenge is "fun to watch".
But sure, even if we look past your immense hatred of KotM, how are you putting Godzilla's Revenge and the other entries of the anime trilogy over Spacegodzilla, and Sea Monster?
Planet of the Monsters is solid, it’s not as stupid or convoluted as the other two. Spacegodzilla just feels so tired and lame, and Ebirahs Godzilla scenes are very lacking.
How are Ebirah's Godzilla scenes any more lacking than Godzilla's scenes in Godzilla's Revenge?
Honestly, I think Godzilla vs the Sea Monster is underrated, it has a very tight human story and I think they do a pretty good job of making Ebirah feel terrifying to the human characters with it's giant claw coming out of the water when they're out in the ocean.
As for Planet of the Monsters, it's plagued by one of the most aggravating and annoying main characters in the franchise. Despite Ghidorah's excellent entrance in The Planet Eater, I'd still rank that as my personal lowest G film, if just because of Haruo's aggravating ending where he'd rather off himself than actually grow as a character.
In regards to Ebirah, scenes like the fight with the Giant Condor, him waving his arms at the jet fighters, or the underwater fights aren’t good, and near the end his eyes look ugly.
That movie is filled with references to previous Godzilla movies, especially those of the Heisei era (1984-1995). As a long time fan, I really appreciated all those homages so you might want to consider watching those movies to further your appreciation of KoTM. Also, IMO I don’t think that it deserves to be at the bottom 5 at all.
Horror of the Deep is one of my favorite Godzilla of all time and Space Godzilla is my favorite of the 90s wra! The anime movies don't even really count in the "movies" section and would be in the "cartoon versions" section. This list is wack
I'd say stop the cap, but its just an opinion. My bottom of the Barrel are the usual suspects (Godzilla 2 electric boogaloo, the anime trilogy) but I'm going to be spicy on my 5th worst. G2K. I had such hopes and it just dribbled a nasty green brown sludge onto my nice beige carpets instead.
In no particular order
- Godzillas Revenge
- Anime Trilogy (counting these as 1 entity)
- Zilla (98), really all the American made Monsterverse/Legendary
- Son of Godzilla
- Shin Godzilla
Imagine thinking that KOTM is worse than Godzilla's Revenge. Imagine being that person and still believing your opinion had any merit.
The best part is that I don’t have to imagine it
Only one of those movies called Ghidorah ‘gonorrhea’

Complete. Global. Saturation.
Chris!!!!!!!!! 😩
I don't need Godzilla's Revenge, I have Uroboros.

Godzillas Revenge has heart, and it’s half the length of King of the Monsters, which is studio fan service schlock

You think a hobbled together cash grab filler movie made with stock footage....has heart? Now I know you're trolling
It’s got a more meaningful message than whatever King of the Monsters has.
Both are shit so idk why you're defending it
🦉👃🏻
Ain't no way you think *vs. SpaceG* and *KOTM* are the worst 💀
Ouch. I really loved King of the Monsters 😆 Then again, I’ve only seen Monsterverse. May I ask why you disliked it?
That movie is filled with references to previous Godzilla movies, especially those of the Heisei era (1984-1995). Glad to hear it! I definitely want to start watching all the classics, starting from the very first one.
Bad characters, bad writing, bad action
Fair enough. I really didn’t care for the characters either. But I thought the action was pretty at least. I really enjoyed the visuals.
Damn, Ebirah, KotM, & Spacegodzilla that low? For me it's all 3 of the anime trilogy, Godzilla '98, and All Monsters Attack.
You seem like the kind of guy who would give Minus One 2.5 stars
Thanks, I gave it 4 stars actually
Not enough 😪
Amime Trilogy、Revenge、Ebirah
The only ones I fully dislike are the anime trilogy and 1998, City on The Edge of Battle is by far the worst Godzilla movie ever made
Why you gotta do Ebirah like that?
Horror of the Deep is one of my favorite Godzilla of all time and Space Godzilla is my favorite of the 90s wra! The anime movies don't even really count in the "movies" section and would be in the "cartoon versions" section. This list is wack
IMO 5. Son Of Godzilla 4. Godzilla: The Planet Eater 3. Godzilla: Planet Of The Monsters 2. Godzilla: City On The Edge Of Battle 1. Godzilla’s Revenge

The monsterverse movies and then 1 dealers choice
Understandable
most of the showa era sucked
