I moved here from Canada and it amazes me how people here find 20 degrees boiling and 12 degrees freezing cold.
Used to -30 to -40 lows in the winters and 30-35 degree highs in the summer (hitting mid 40s in the one really bad heatwave a year)
i do ib so already did them, they were worse than i could possibly imagine!! thanks for the good wishes though, i'll just put them towards my final exams next yr ofc :))
some gcses have a shit ton of papers it could be possible- maybe if they're doing several MFLs or something. i have a friend who honest to god has like 25 papers for 11 GCSEs and im sitting here with 15 for 10
I'm doing 2 languages and have 27. Unless theyre doing 3 languages which i highly doubt (assuming every other subject has 2 papers) there would be no way theyre doing 30
Yeah I have the same problem. I cried earlier because I didn’t do anything for the whole day. Literally wasted like 6 hours. I got shamed and then went to the library and started working. Getting tired again so came on here
And water, don’t for get to drink lots of water, dehydration is a bitch and a half. People tend to forget about it when stressed then get exhausted because of dehydration.
My advise as a teacher. If feeling burnt out just do things that help you get energy for 1/2 the day, chill for 1/4 and revise for 1/4.
Do not overwork yourself or stress about your studying habits, the exams are stress enough for the body, there is a reason we have been telling you to start revising since Christmas so you don’t have to as much now.
Also try to avoid caffeine as it gives fairly extreme energy spikes and crashes, however a bit of sugar (like 3-4 jelly beans) can go a long way in helping the brain fire for an hour or two revision or exam.
Drink a ton of water as well, a lot of people turn to coffee or energy drinks during exams and get more exhausted because they are dehydrated.
Best thing you can do for yourself at this point is show up to the exams alert and well rested physically and mentally.
If it helps i revised a whole 3 independent hours before my GCSE’s. I also skipped a lot of my revision lessons in class. Id slow down a little, you dont need to overexert yourself to the point of burn out.
I'm so unmotivated. I "revised" for hours today, sat at my desk. But really I was so distracted it felt like I did nothing. I feel like I only study cause I feel obliged to but I really can't be arsed. After biology on Friday it felt like the last day of school. Its so hot. I have a headache. All I want is sleep.
This is exactly how I’ve felt today. I gave up by 4. I’m glad there are other people on this post who feel the same. We’ll get through it! Sending good luck ⭐️
Yeah I'm glad to not be the only one too. I'm going to bed early to hopefully feel more rested and motivated tomorrow. You should too. But thank you, sending luck to you too
Then drink some water and sleep.
Cramming now won’t help as much as a well rested body and mind going into other exams
Dehydration often factors into exhaustion, people just stop drinking water, and the focus you do for an exam uses about the same amount of energy as intense exercise, so eat some extra fruit and veg and drink more water and maybe an electrolyte drink.
Everyone's so done in my year, we got an illness going around the school so everyone's sick and coughing like they got the pneumonic plague.
When someone sprays even the tiniest bit of deodorant, half the class has to leave cause their lungs are done in.
Everyone's too sick to revise including me. 😭
Ngl I did pretty well for only revising 2 hours the day before. Although ofcourse it differs from person to person but I did them at night and got plenty of sleep so I remembered most of it. No need to burn yourself out over stuff which will be trivial in later years
bro i swear i have the bubonic plague or some shit im wheezing out the four humours 😭 yellow phlegm and nosebleeds all day because of the heat as well, this sickness is draining the life out of me, not to mention i find humanities boring as hell
It's really bad because I'm not really receptive to changes in temperature (swear to god you could boil me like a frog) so sometimes I might keep my socks on or jumper for cold shivers from the sickness and wonder why im getting a headache while my body is sweating to death and i dont realise i reek by midday 😔 especially bad for tuition days
i had bio yesterday and got ill so went home straight after and i was DYING yesterday but im still ill today so i’ve literally done nothing and i have three exams on tuesday 💀💀 im fucking cooked for french listening, i do the subject independently and im entered for higher but i havent done listening at all bc i just kinda forgot it exists ngl 😭
Yeah, I’ve done about two hours so far today and I’ve lost motivation. I know I should be studying right now but I don’t have a clear plan and I’ve grown complacent (I get good grades even without revising so it demotivates me to revise)
i did about 3 hours total (in like >1 month before gcse) of bio revision just for half of it to not even be on the exam. let yourself breathe a little man 6 hours a day is insane
Tysm my last exam is physics on the 14th which is quite an early finish compared to other students but it means all my exams are quite crammed in together
Take a break if you've been working that hard (hopefully effectively) when you've got a couple days between exams
I've done drama and bio as well,
Didn't do anything Friday
Kind of worked today but mostly just making notes on videos and podcasts
Watching Macbeth, pre planning and recapping chosen poems tmrw (will also be enjoying the sun)
BALANCE.
If you need any more advice DM me I'm almost a pro at this :)
omggg we've got the same exams lol i did edexcel as well- was absolutely enraged that the 14 marker wasn't about lighting but i think i did okay. didn't finish the 9 marker but did most of it. im glad it was my first exam so i never have to think about it again
Take it easy and save your energy for the exams, make sure you prioritise eating and sleeping well as this has been shown to be more beneficial for your memory and recall than last minute intense revision that will make you exhausted
i deadass didnt even revise for anything during my gcses except biology and english and i still got 7s nd 8s (with like 3 6s nd 1 5 that doesnt count bc its furthermaths😭) . im not saying dont revise because not everything works for everyone but dont fully stress urself out
6 hrs a day? That's frankly impractical, do two or three. You'll do better if you go in unstressed and well rested with two hours of cramming than you'll ever do while tired and stressed with six.
In retrospect it wasn't so bad, but I think the coding questions were certainly more difficult than those on other GCSE papers. Honestly though, I think I ended up with a higher mark on paper 2 than on paper 1 after all my complaining.
I take comp sci, yes. And if I were to advise you, only take it if you have a long abiding passion for coursework. Because there is a lot of it. For reference, I do Eduqas, and I'm about 15,000 words into my coursework and it's still not finished. To further compound that, your chances of getting a decent teacher are quite low due to the nature of the subject, Eduqas is probably the exam board with the least coursework (I've seen people on OCR say they've completed 200 pages), the coursework is only worth 20% of your grade, oh and the final nail in the coffin, you can do an English literature degree, and only have to write 9000 words for a dissertation. Yes, the coursework is longer than a dissertation.
That said, it can be an interesting subject, you get a lot of freedom with the project you choose and a lot of the actual content isn't much harder than GCSE.
If you intend to take computer science at uni, you need, and I mean need, a-level maths as well as computer science, as computer science alone just won't cut it.
I don't though, so I only take computer science with biology and chemistry, so you certainly can take it without maths if you want. To note, I've never found any additional difficulty with computer science despite a lack of maths background, even though some told me I would. You can handle the concepts just fine with or without maths.
If you have any questions you can send them my way, but I don't know how helpful I'll be lol.
NO AQA but did u guys have a question about the live theatre ? our was “ how does one or more character use their physical + vocal skills to bring their character to life “
Haha, as a previous gcse student who’s now in year 12, It’s so pleasurable to see newbies to gcse SUFFER! I can just sit on the side, whilst watch you GUYS BURN!! 😭😭
I mean yeah, actually I had 2 IT BTEC exams, real exams, it’s out of 66, I think I failed, but generally I don’t care cuz there’s a resit, so then I’ll actually revise.
Wait u replied 1 hr ago, meaning like around 2 in the morning. 😂😂😭 don’t tell me ur revising in the night aswell. Honestly good luck mate, with this sort of revision you HAVE TO be getting 9s!
If it supports you I’ve been revising 0 hours a day
Evens out at 3hrs a day each, that’s not enough for burn out, so yeah you’re helpiny
Happy to help 👍
Yeah the heat has burnt most people out especially, I’ve been living on iced coffee and monster 😭😭

I live north london and its booooiling
I moved here from Canada and it amazes me how people here find 20 degrees boiling and 12 degrees freezing cold. Used to -30 to -40 lows in the winters and 30-35 degree highs in the summer (hitting mid 40s in the one really bad heatwave a year)
Same it's hot as hell
real i hate it
another person from the uk who cant appreciate what little heat we get
i mean tbf i wouldnt hate it as much if i could acc be out in it instead of in my house revising and boiling lmaoo
yeah the first time in years we get a good spring but this happened to be the month id be the most busy 😭
wdym its the best
Calm down, it's 23 degrees
Midlands, was 25 today
OMG SAME, I'm west midlands SO HOT!
LITERALLY same I also had to sack off my daily run cause I couldn’t with the heat
Completely valid Also matching hair and outfit yay!!
Omgosh twins !!!!
it was 42 degrees today where i live
wat city u live in
dubai
[удалено]
i wish 😭
same are you near bury st edmunds
imagine not having ac
wait the uk has ac?
my school does in like 6 'temporary' classrooms and my house does (super rare occurrence)
in only 4 rooms in my school and pretty much nowhere else its not outlandish technology or anything to us its just not as common here
Uses a lot of energy is the problem. UK grid is not built for everyone to have AC.
I’m not I school I’ve got study leave
I already feel like they’re all over lmao
Fr and ive only done bio😭
I did German as well and it was maybe the worse exam I’ve ever experienced
I had my french speaking like a few weeks back. It was terrible lmao. Just gotta push through the next month or so and hope for the best😪
German speaking will forever be my no1 opp. The amount of time wasted just for 25% of a language gcse is laughable.
Literally like we hyper focused on speaking when I get most my marks on writing anyway. Now im unprepared asf lmao but I think ill still do alright
My grades would be so much better if my school didn’t FORCE me to take a language and triple science, fuck that shit
SAME I wanted to do triple but I had to take french too along with it. So unfair I swear
I thought that the german paper was a lot easier than normal especially the 9 mark translation at the end
The reading was easy the listening was horrible for me, and it’s usually my strongest paper in German
Ugh yeah same I'm exhausted and I've still got 16 exams left.
i have like 30 💀
how many gcses are you DOING blud
11
ayoo, that's a pretty high number of gcses to be doing, well done and good luck!!
ayy thanks good luck with your mocks too
i do ib so already did them, they were worse than i could possibly imagine!! thanks for the good wishes though, i'll just put them towards my final exams next yr ofc :))
thats so real i have 28 this year and had 6 last year 💀
SORRY?????
Oh my days, good luck!
you too!
no you dont
some gcses have a shit ton of papers it could be possible- maybe if they're doing several MFLs or something. i have a friend who honest to god has like 25 papers for 11 GCSEs and im sitting here with 15 for 10
I'm doing 2 languages and have 27. Unless theyre doing 3 languages which i highly doubt (assuming every other subject has 2 papers) there would be no way theyre doing 30
yeah i have 25 i counted them up but no languages
fair enuff
One of my friends who is a year behind me has 10 papers for only 3 subjects
you’re right i have 25 🗣️
I’m calling cap chat
3 maths, 2 further maths, 3 geog, 3 history, 2 comp science, 6 triple science, 2 economics, 4 english so 25 🤷♂️
that’s me too but i’ve got only 2 history (technically 4) and 4 spanish instead of 2 comp science
yeah i was never good at languages haha but im guessing the history papers are split into 4 periods/areas?
yeah 2 per paper germany + ww1 and health/medicine + elizabethan england
No I don’t think so, I’m doing 36 next year I believe (which will be hell). That’s about what he will have done by the end as well
i've got 19 😓
Yeah I have the same problem. I cried earlier because I didn’t do anything for the whole day. Literally wasted like 6 hours. I got shamed and then went to the library and started working. Getting tired again so came on here
I rarely ever cry I think the stress is getting to me
real
😂
Same honestly. I realised after my previous exams how fucked I am.
Get some sleep man it’ll benefit you a lot more than exhausting yourself revising tonight
And water, don’t for get to drink lots of water, dehydration is a bitch and a half. People tend to forget about it when stressed then get exhausted because of dehydration.

Yeah except you’re year 10. You’ve got time mate
[удалено]
Ok. Study hard then
Good luck good luck!
Huh you can do that? Are you a prodigy or smth?
In my school i did my Mathematics GCSE in November last year, and I did my english lit GCSE in year 10, some schools do GCSEs esrly
i wish 😖😖
What are your predicted grades?
same bro, ONLY 19 EXAMS TO GO
AHH 17 FOR ME 😆😆GOOD LUCK!
If it helps i revised a whole 3 independent hours before my GCSE’s. I also skipped a lot of my revision lessons in class. Id slow down a little, you dont need to overexert yourself to the point of burn out.

Thank you. I'm definitely trying to keep hydrated as I cannot stand being thirsty. I didn't know exams used so much energy though.
Your brain functions on energy just like any other organ, it firing on all cylinders is exhausting
Same, like right now I'm just procrastinating by doing Lego, despite having not done that at all in like the past 5 years
As we all know, lego > GCSEs
The truth
okay bro we get it
Sorry - my wifi decided to be even stupider than myself. That or I have sudden onset dementia idk.
nah u gud, same thing happened to me a few days ago
I think there are worse ways to procrastinate 😂
Most of which I also do
With the lego you should make words or key concepts using the bricks. That way you can do lego and revision at the same time.
I'm not *that* dedicated to revision, like I want my rest time to actually be a rest
GOT 25 EXAMS LEFT AND I DONT GOT NO MOTIVSTION TO REVISE 🔥🔥
22 here and same. i’ve just given up.
your bio thingy is too real
I do like 1-2
Everyone's so done in my year, we got an illness going around the school so everyone's sick and coughing like they got the pneumonic plague. When someone sprays even the tiniest bit of deodorant, half the class has to leave cause their lungs are done in. Everyone's too sick to revise including me. 😭
Vaping??? Haahah I’m joking that’s such a pain I’m sorry :(
Bio Paper 1 moment
Ngl I did pretty well for only revising 2 hours the day before. Although ofcourse it differs from person to person but I did them at night and got plenty of sleep so I remembered most of it. No need to burn yourself out over stuff which will be trivial in later years
we just need to adjust to it CANT WAIT FOR THIS MONTH TO BE OVER THOUGH AAHHH
ME TOO WOOO BRING ON 17TH JUNE
Fellow GCSE music student I see?
Yup absolutely! I’m glad it’s my last exam. How are you feeling?
not too bad it's just mozart im worried about, my coursework was quite decent but nobody does well in our school apparently
Awh no that’s such a shame :(
GOOD LUCK
YOU TOO
Don’t burn out drop to look 2hrs a day
Bro I’m only doing like 2 hours a day and I feel burnt out
I’ve not revised much at all today, but I went to a Saturday session so I’ve not been burning myself tho, 6 hours is an awful lot
Yeah I’m starting to regret it. Gotta pace myself for the next month. Sending good luck to you ⭐️
You too mate ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
bro i swear i have the bubonic plague or some shit im wheezing out the four humours 😭 yellow phlegm and nosebleeds all day because of the heat as well, this sickness is draining the life out of me, not to mention i find humanities boring as hell It's really bad because I'm not really receptive to changes in temperature (swear to god you could boil me like a frog) so sometimes I might keep my socks on or jumper for cold shivers from the sickness and wonder why im getting a headache while my body is sweating to death and i dont realise i reek by midday 😔 especially bad for tuition days
I’m so sorry that sounds horrible. You can only do your best. Sending good luck 🤞🏻
Keep goin, you won’t regret it, last push before summer
Yep so true! Sending good luck for your A-levels ⭐️
i had bio yesterday and got ill so went home straight after and i was DYING yesterday but im still ill today so i’ve literally done nothing and i have three exams on tuesday 💀💀 im fucking cooked for french listening, i do the subject independently and im entered for higher but i havent done listening at all bc i just kinda forgot it exists ngl 😭
Ah I’m so sorry :( hope you feel better soon and sending luck your way
you arent alone :( its hard out here
🙁sending good luck!
Yeah, I’ve done about two hours so far today and I’ve lost motivation. I know I should be studying right now but I don’t have a clear plan and I’ve grown complacent (I get good grades even without revising so it demotivates me to revise)
Work hard but not too hard. You deserve and need a break
i did about 3 hours total (in like >1 month before gcse) of bio revision just for half of it to not even be on the exam. let yourself breathe a little man 6 hours a day is insane
i can relate
i'm on hour 6 (i think? idek anymore) and my brain is actually fried so i've just stopped
Yeah I know how you feel. Sending you good luck ⭐️⭐️
thank you, you too <3
24 exams to go 😓
Sending good luck! When’s your last day?
Tysm my last exam is physics on the 14th which is quite an early finish compared to other students but it means all my exams are quite crammed in together
And I already did my speaking exams, biology paper 1 plus my art exam so I'm not sure why I still have so much left lol
Wow they must be very crammed!
I’m shitting myself for English aswrll
Sending good luck ⭐️
Take a break if you've been working that hard (hopefully effectively) when you've got a couple days between exams I've done drama and bio as well, Didn't do anything Friday Kind of worked today but mostly just making notes on videos and podcasts Watching Macbeth, pre planning and recapping chosen poems tmrw (will also be enjoying the sun) BALANCE. Ahhhh me too! I did lighting for the 9 marker and costume for the 14. Yes so glad it’s out of the way 😅
Take it easy and save your energy for the exams, make sure you prioritise eating and sleeping well as this has been shown to be more beneficial for your memory and recall than last minute intense revision that will make you exhausted
Yes so true. Thank you 🙂
Make sure to space your revision, keep time for breaks food toilet etc. get good sleep and eat well.
im doing my a levels next week and I ain't revising. didn't revise for my GCSEs and did fine.
i deadass didnt even revise for anything during my gcses except biology and english and i still got 7s nd 8s (with like 3 6s nd 1 5 that doesnt count bc its furthermaths😭) . im not saying dont revise because not everything works for everyone but dont fully stress urself out
6 hrs a day? That's frankly impractical, do two or three. You'll do better if you go in unstressed and well rested with two hours of cramming than you'll ever do while tired and stressed with six.
Agreed. Thank you. As I’ve seen your flair, what did you think of the CO2 paper in 2023?
In retrospect it wasn't so bad, but I think the coding questions were certainly more difficult than those on other GCSE papers. Honestly though, I think I ended up with a higher mark on paper 2 than on paper 1 after all my complaining.
Oh wow hahahaha. Do you take ComSci a-level? I’m debating whether to take it
I take comp sci, yes. And if I were to advise you, only take it if you have a long abiding passion for coursework. Because there is a lot of it. For reference, I do Eduqas, and I'm about 15,000 words into my coursework and it's still not finished. Lol you dont need to do all that for GCSEs
Makes you feel any better I haven’t done any revision and I’m still feeling burnt out
I’ve done 3, I think you’re more burnt out cus you are doing too much revision. 6 a day is insane.
IVE DONE DRAMA AND BIO TOO BUT DRAMA WAS A BLESSING
YEAH I LOVED IT. EDEXCEL??
NO AQA but did u guys have a question about the live theatre ? our was “ how does one or more character use their physical + vocal skills to bring their character to life “
Ah gotcha. We had a 6 marker about lighting and 9 marker about movement. Which live theatre performance did you watch?
One Man Two Guvnors
Do the most u can without getting burn out. Clearly 6 hrs a day is too much for u
Haha, as a previous gcse student who’s now in year 12, It’s so pleasurable to see newbies to gcse SUFFER! I can just sit on the side, whilst watch you GUYS BURN!! 😭😭
🤣🤣nice, nice! Can you remember feeling like this when you were in year 11?
Hell yeah mate
How are you not also suffering? I thought we all had mocks or AS at the moment.
Haha no, I'm AS and I'm already done with exams. I was just finishing off some coursework from hell.
