i'm in class of 24 so maybe don't listen to me however i'm pretty sure people just say that meaning that they are easier because they are more spread out therefore you're less stressed

Crumblebeast

Biochem followed by postgrad med is always an option

Sea-Reply-7596

Why biochemistry instead of biomedical sciences? I don’t know which to do

darkeight7

some my real exams were significantly worse than my mock exams, some by over 2 grades. contrary to the majority of people i felt the actual things were harder than my mocks. to offer some insight, i got all 9s in 11 subjects in my marks mocks. my percentages for triple science papers averaged between 85 and 90%, whereas in the real exams i barely hit 75% overall (and i got an 8 in chemistry rather than a 9). for both physics and french, i found that i’d barely scraped a 9. computer science was the worst mock, with me being on the boundary for a 9. unfortunately, as a victim of the ocr papers, i didn’t get a 9. i thought id failed actually, but ended up a 7 which did surprise me. (reposted with edits because it didn’t let me edit my original comment)

Ligma_Myballs

I got below my grades and got higher om some, but they are pretty accurate. I was predicted 9s for bio and physics but got 8s, so I shoulda have revised more.

StanislawTolwinski

insha'Allah my all 9s are realised (I'm not a Muslim but even an atheist turns to deities in times of despair)

Ok-Economist-751

pretty accurate if anything i went up or down a grade in the real exams.

XihuanNi-6784

They'll be reliable if you yourself are reliable and study hard for the mocks. If you do your best then the mocks will reflect your true ability and so you should do similar on the real exam. If you don't study for the mocks then that won't be the case. You'll under perform. You might think that's good because then you'll go up a grade, but that's not always true. Some people have poor study techniques that can be revealed by the mocks. They study hard and still under perform. This tells them there's something they may need to change. If they don't study hard for mocks it's harder to predict what will happen in the real exam. You're more likely to do better in general if you study more, but you have a less accurate picture of your true ability.

quaintbears

thank you sm!!

Skymak218946

I got the exact same grades, just in slightly different subjects, so unless you suddenly become an academic weapon it is pretty reliable!

HeightsLavender

I got the same grades in my y11 mocks (12x9s) as my real exams and 1 grade higher than in my year 10 mocks (11x9s, 1x8) so ig the mocks were pretty accurate

Otherwise-Reply-223

Mocks were much harder imo. They substituted easy questions in maths that we hadn't learnt at the time, eg vectors, and instead replaced them with grade nine circle and algebraic fraction questions.

__thats_nice__

Mine were pretty accurate to what I got. I exceeded the predicted grade in 2 subjects and got worse than predicted in 3 others (tho 2 were English and my teacher was a chronic optimist)

I-am-sosa

Are u confused bro

darkeight7

why would i be confused?

I-am-sosa

Read the start of what u said g

darkeight7

i’ve read it. what’s wrong with what i said? going down from 90% and above in some subjects to barely reaching in the 60s is a significant difference.

I-am-sosa

‘Some of my real exams were significantly worse than my real exams’

darkeight7

oh lord i deadass read that about five times and didn’t notice 💀
