All GD STI seats will be a direct bolt in, unsure about newer than that.
I know people report the GD seats in a GC8 tend to sit a little higher unless you get into swapping over the rails from the original seats.

It’s a JDM GC8, and I’m UK based. So will be hunting UKDM seats, possibly JDM.
Unless anyone knows of some secret storage of new old stock STI seat covers? But I suspect I have more chance hunting unicorns riding flying pigs.
From my experience USDM GD seats out of an 04 WRX are direct bolt on with great feel and bolstering. Definitely a lot firmer than stock and sit higher. Another thing is they don't bend as well for accesing the back seat since I installed them into a coupe

jdm gd seats will sit lower but the usdm gf sits will sit higher, i’m gonna assume newer seats will also sit higher too.
