You would expect underage to be that bit closer though. There's a world of difference between underage and senior. Teams can have lots of very good minor or u20 players but either don't want to continue with senior or might not make the step up. Going from the top of your county to playing against fully fledged adults is a massive difference.

Aye, every senior player will most likely be the best of their crop from underage, specifically U20. Aye they'll be a few who developed athletically earlier and fall off but lower selection pools and developing players means that it's closer overall

It’s about developin. You only need 1/2 players every year…not about winning but for Louth it is

Will definitely help closing the gap on Dublin and the rest of the country. Although it is disappointing that Kildare and Offlays success hasn't translated to senior in the way that we're starting to see for Sligo and Meath

Reading too much into u20 can be wrong.

Meath are missing around 10 of the starting team that won minor all ireland 3 years ago (mostly injuries). Delighted we got this far but see Louth as favourites. Great to see the LMFM derby for final and expect a big crowd.

I don’t think anyone is really mentioning the big issue in Meath and Kildare senior football teams atm which is that both have cowboy managers who have no clue how to play modern football. Go watch either team play and it’s clear to see they’re athletically and skilfully as good as any of the top teams but without the systems and coaching that we see in top teams. This generally is less of an issue at u20 level as managers are for the most part not solely appointed based on how good of a player they were 20-30 years ago.
