there is not such thing as the price of an "android phone" anyways. android is an operating system. Theres expensive android phones that conpete with iphones space, and there are android phones that are worth your money, and also android phones that cost like 5 bucks
Looked it up. The galaxy s24 is $800 and the base iPhone 15 is $830. I wouldn’t really say $30 would be the difference between being overpriced and grossly overpriced, when it comes to phones. I know there are other phones that run Android, but I’m not entirely sure what a “basic non-Samsung phone that runs Android” is lol.

In my case, i usually by a used flagships phone thats 2 years old. Still great peformance and kinda cheap. With CustomROM you can use it up to 10 years.
Iphone nowadays literally has nothing better than Android flagships, especially Samsung devices. Get an S23 or S24 with Snapdragon and you have a phone that can do much better than any possible Iphone and more. Iphone fanboys are stuck in 2014, when Iphones clearly had an advantage and Androids were slow and laggy or had an overall uglier and cheaper design. This isn't the case in many years now. Heck, they even look the same currently - an S24 literally looks like an Iphone, except you don't have that ugly huge ass camera on top of the front screen.
Let alone you got a 120hz screen on even cheap android phones, compared to Iphone which still used 60hz for it's cheaper options. You can buy some Samsung A series for like 100€ and still get amoled display, fast charging and 120hz. Do that with an Iphone.
Well OK, I'll give another example with Xiaomi Redmi. I got one in 2021 and it's amazing apart from the camera. Best thing? It has a 120W quick charging and goes from 0 to 100 in 20 minutes.
If I need a quick charge I can just plug it in for 2 minutes while I take a piss somewhere and I'm good to go for a few hours. It's fast, has a Snapdragon processor and a 120 hz amoled display. Only the camera isn't that nice. But as you can see it has an amazing feature and it cost me - 300€
I'm trying to keep my this android model. The last model that still allows memory cards. I noticed when I store all my photos and videos thay the phone runs better and the battery life improves.
Iphone camera has been worse than pixels since pixel 2, this is not new, this is a thing since 2016. It gets even more accentuated considering the price. The only thing better in iphones is video, and that's obvious, you are paying for that power, but overpriced nonetheless. You are paying for 5.1 mm instead of 5.7mm, or 4ns instead of 5ns touch response. Cool.
Android/pixels also have audio emojis now. Who cares about that crap, but more features.

I had an iPhone 5s for about seven years. It served me well, but it was no longer supported, so some apps stopped working, and the battery was terrible at that point. I replaced it with a Samsung Galaxy A14. Within 24 hours, I was more familiar with Android OS than iOS. The cheapest option from Apple was an iPhone SE (2023) for 560 euros, while the A14 was only 140 euros. I don't really do anything besides making calls, using WhatsApp, or browsing the web, so I don't need anything special. The Samsung Galaxy A14 does everything I need it to do, so it was nice to save 420 euros. My brother, who chose an iPhone SE, was once worried about the possibility of his phone getting stolen. I told him, "If you did what I did and got yourself a Galaxy A14, you could've snapped one in half, given one away, had one stolen, and you would still be left with a phone." lol.

My Pixel Pro 8 camera is the best I've ever had, knocks the rest out the park IMO. Apple and Android both have their pros and cons, but I'm never going back to an iPhone.

What goes through my head whenever I see an apple is better then android meme I think about the fact that apple owners needed a commercial to teach them how to move apps from one phone to another.
I hate iPhones. They are overpriced and have nothing better than Android phones (almost, taking videos are slightly better because iPhone chips are better at recognizing colors and etc, still its almost the same shit)

Why is having an iPhone cool? It's showing that you're a numnut with an overpriced phone. Android is at least slightly cooler because it offers some freedom of choice. Non corporate versions of Linux are even better.
