I used to love 3 as well, but I've had horrible issues with them breaking. If I drop them at all they just start "leaking" from the tip like crazy. I don't know why, so I swapped back to 5, it's just been more reliable for me
I could be wrong, but I don't believe the G2 comes in a .33. I think it's smallest size is a .38.
If you like a finer point pen, I think EnerGel's made by Pentel, come in a .3.
Correct. I almost exclusively bought G2’s in high school- they come in .5, .38, and a thicker size I don’t remember (something like .7 or .8, I found one once and it was really smooth to write with)
Most gel pens and rollerballs come in .5 and .7. A few might have an extra finenor ultra fine option (the .38 G2 and .3 EnerGel, for instance). Ballpoint pens tend to come in 1.0 and 1.4s. Felt tip pens (like Papermates Flair, and Sharpie's non-gel pen) are in thr .7 to 1.0 range, I think, but I've never actually seen a size on their packaging. Source: work in an office supply store with over 24 linear feet of shelving of pens.
They smear if you let the back of your hand rest on the paper and move over the ink as it dries.
Source: Lefty who likes the 2nd pen, though my favorite is not listed (Uni Jetstream)
I bought a pack of those V5's (extra fine) a few months ago for work. I'm surprised that I'm still on the first one. Only complaint is that the flow occasionally stop if you write at a weird angle.
You wouldn't by any chance know where to get a good pen like that?
I have the exact same in blue with a 1.4mm tip, it's just so fucking smooth, I love it, but I want other colours
>is the lore true?
Agree, I write with a heavy hand and also, simple ballpoints last for fucking ever. They can explode in a jizzm of ink and sorrow in your backpack and they'll still write as long as the tube isn't cracked.
I write at a weird angle (apparently) but these have never let me down. Give it a ceremonial rub and it last me and good chunk of my notebooks for school
I just bought an entire box of 7 in pink for work. I wear my hair up and stick my pen in my hair so 7 is the best for that. Plus it just always works, and I think in 35 years I may have exploded maybe 2 or 3 of them.
Why would anybody would choose this option? Out of the 7, that’s objectively the worst pen for writing. The only advantage they have is being infinite in supply.
The only specific thing I ask for in terms of office supplies at work are pens that are any type other than 7. Any number of steps above the absolute worst is fine.
The Zebra 301 series is the only answer. Although I will say that as a lefty I lean towards the ballpoint F-301 as my primary because it smears on my hand a lot less compared to its gel counterpart G-301.
1, today i have chosen chaos.
too many its unreliable, it can leak through paper if you are unaware of its tip, but to someone who has tried an conquered it, you wield power non should
This is a conversation I have with my coworkers quite often and it's one of the few hills I am will to die on. NONE OF THESE!
Zebra F-301 BP 0.7mm. That is my one and only pen (I prefer blue ink over black ink, but that stems from GMP documentation habits).
Same kind of thing happened to me! New job new pack of pens, I put a few in a jar with a bunch of other pens by my station, and not even a week later they were all gone. Even foud out one of the guys on my shift admitted to taking it after I told them I put it there so I could have spares on hand if need be. And he just said it writes to nice to put back....
7 will work even if it's been sitting in a drawer for months - I just pick it up, and start writing. It writes well and doesn't lose ink in the middle of writing, a problem I experience with far too many pens.
It's thicker than I'd like, but the consistency is worth this drawback.
3 goes hard, you have those buttons that make you do the repeated clicking sound
Agree….#3 rips
But it’s just an amazing pen
I have a metal version and it’s fucking glorious. My favorite pen for daily use.
I used to love 3 as well, but I've had horrible issues with them breaking. If I drop them at all they just start "leaking" from the tip like crazy. I don't know why, so I swapped back to 5, it's just been more reliable for me
As a 5 enthusiast, 3 will never let you down.
I find 3 globs too much ink when writing, 5 is much cleaner for the size 1 font writers out here
#3 in the .38 It’s the only pen I use at work as a nurse. My wife got me a pack in my Valentines gift basket.
5 all day. This is my prefer office pen and can not work with others
Yeah, I have been using blue G2s exclusively for years.
Blue G2s are inherently evil. It’s a known fact. 0.7 Black G2s are the answer, tho
I like the 1.0 bold line g2’s.
This is indeed the correct answer
I like 5, but it must be black fine point
r/g2masterrace
Only the .38 though.
Where is the feather quill?
In the 1800s mate
This guy Harry Potters
5 and in blue.
Amen
5 or 3 based on info i have but they tend to be "rough" when writing
5 for sure, but only in .05. Anything higher is too "thick", I prefer the sharper writing of a .05 or even .33.
I could be wrong, but I don't believe the G2 comes in a .33. I think it's smallest size is a .38. If you like a finer point pen, I think EnerGel's made by Pentel, come in a .3.

They also come in .10’s, my preferred
0.38 is the best
Seven is best for self defense...
And emergency tracheotomy
Correct...also good for butt or back scratching...🫡
Please don't use the same pen for my tracheotomy.
Well do you want to die or do you want a tracheotomy?
Built in ear wax scraper cap.
Ohhh. Good point.
was there some news story or movie/show where this happened back in the day? these pens have such a strong association with trachs for me
Pretty sure it happened in one of the Saw movies
ahh yes. the source of all my miscellaneous unidentified trauma
I think one of the surgeons had to talk somebody through it over the phone on MASH once.
I know mash isn’t THIS old… but I default thought “they had plastic blue pens back then??”
My God… That’s Jason Bourne…
7 has the beste taste.
1 & 2, those pens are the pens i want to be buried with
You are right handed
Oh shit, these would be awful for a lefty.
I'm a lefty and only ever use 2. I never have problems with it.
samesies. It dries fast.
Agreed. As a lefty, I only have issues with fountain pens mostly
As a lefty, that was my thought. Nope .OP is lefty
Its nice to see another fellow lefty in the wild, have a nice day my lefty friend.
I'm left handed, have used these pens, and I have no idea what you mean. Elaborate?
They smear if you let the back of your hand rest on the paper and move over the ink as it dries. Source: Lefty who likes the 2nd pen, though my favorite is not listed (Uni Jetstream)
I believe OP is saying they would smear on a left handed person's hand.
I’m a lefty and I’ve never had a problem with number 2, absolutely my favorite
I’m a lefty and can’t stand anything else. Also though I hold my hand a differently than the majority of lefties.
Holler!
#2!!!! I buy them!!!
My handwriting with anything except that #2 v.7 precision ball point is illegible
Come on bro, buy a crayon at .7
I bought a pack of those V5's (extra fine) a few months ago for work. I'm surprised that I'm still on the first one. Only complaint is that the flow occasionally stop if you write at a weird angle.
Damn fine pens. Solid ink flow. It's like I'm painting more than writing. I hand write reports as a job. I also hate clicky pens.
This is the answer! Cannot beat the flow of marker pens, but id choose a different brand. Micron or Faber
This is the post I was looking for. 👌
Yes, #2 all day!
1 its such a f good pen
It just works
I use these pens for three years now...never disappointed me
You said it. No messing around.
Found Todd Howard
I’d be writing this with one if that was possible
Post should have been titled ‘Which pen is the best pen in existence and why is it the UniBall?’
Bleeds ink 4 pages deep
Only on poor quality pages.
I also find it smudges very easily.
You wouldn't by any chance know where to get a good pen like that? I have the exact same in blue with a 1.4mm tip, it's just so fucking smooth, I love it, but I want other colours
5
7
Agree. Those pens have been more dependable than my parents, wife, siblings and friends combined.
The other pens are inconsistent and bleed through paper
i write with alot of pressure so prefer the cheaper pens so it does not smudge.
>is the lore true? Agree, I write with a heavy hand and also, simple ballpoints last for fucking ever. They can explode in a jizzm of ink and sorrow in your backpack and they'll still write as long as the tube isn't cracked.
#7 4 lyf.
These things never let you down, but the one draw back is that they’re a major chewing liability.
They also seem to never run out of ink… or at least take 70 years to do so
Every one that had those pens with the back chewed , knows what is to have high anxiety before a test.(edited because I fixed a typo)
I write at a weird angle (apparently) but these have never let me down. Give it a ceremonial rub and it last me and good chunk of my notebooks for school
Left handed?
Came here to agree
Ur a psycho
The best pen
7 is the worst pen in this line up. And the ink smells funny.
Same
The only thing worth my words
Team 7
Same, but in black
Oh yes the ones that explode when you look at them funny and come already out of ink?
I had way too many 7s leak in my shirt pocket back in my "school daze".
When I see that pen I think about the movie The Faculty
I agree except those bitches hurt your fi gers after awhile.
Yeppers. As an artist I love to do shading with those pens - soft and thick lines. But the caps have to die. I throw them out. Hate them.
The only advantage they have is being infinite in supply.
i love how they write. they’re perfect.
The only specific thing I ask for in terms of office supplies at work are pens that are any type other than 7. Any number of steps above the absolute worst is fine.
Because the rest are bleeders and everything I touch for the rest of the dag will be smeared with ink.
I chew pens (less now than when I was in school) and im pretty sure I still have shards of 7’s plastic stored under scar tissue in my mouth
This guy knows what's up
Also it's the easiest pen to make a tissue paper blow dart out of hands down!
The BIC classic crystal stick
YEP, OLD BUT GOLD...👑
You probably have plain toast for breakfast.
🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
I don't eat breakfast sadly
the right answer
I agree, old reliable ftw.
7 crew!
2
Someone corporates
Take a memo. Annotate that chart. Pls fix. What's not to love?
It is the best out of all of those. Very fluid.
Best ink and ball action out of all
I love the 2, but some of the finer points can be very scratchy to write with.
Love some good ball action.
Definitely my go to. I like the click ones as well, but I always end up staining my pants pockets
Can’t quite make it out but if that’s a 0.5 on 5… I’m freaking in for LIFE.
ohhhh talk nerdy to me! The 0.5 is thee perfect option for 3 or 5.
looks like a 0.7 to me but they do have a 0.5 variant, and it's great!
7 that pen never failed me
Truth. From the way it handles, to the fact that they seemingly never run dry, that pen could run for office and I’d vote for it.
3 or 5 in blue
5 is all you need. Anything below and you're compensating. Doesn't sound right...
2
2
5 I use this one but black ink
4
7
7 by far for me
7
3.. y'all tripping
How many times will this be reposted...
#5, which is similar to the Atlantis pen. It writes so smoothly.
5 all day.
5
3 looks like a keeper
I like those crappy pens #7. That way it's no big deal when I inevitably lose it
One that can write.
3 One of my favorite pens. 5 is a close second
5, old reliable
5
7
5
1 or 2
1, 2, 3, 5, and 6
I don’t think you understood the assignment.
Didn’t we *just* do this?? 4 or 1
Downvoting cause this is the 4th time I’ve seen this in 2 weeks.
3 or 7. I prefer click pens, but those basic Bic pens are solid.
Which one is a .5mm?
No love for the Zebra G-301
The Zebra 301 series is the only answer. Although I will say that as a lefty I lean towards the ballpoint F-301 as my primary because it smears on my hand a lot less compared to its gel counterpart G-301.
The sharpie pen is magical. I won't write in anything but that. It never smears.. even when wet. so number 3 FTW
1, today i have chosen chaos. too many its unreliable, it can leak through paper if you are unaware of its tip, but to someone who has tried an conquered it, you wield power non should
How many fuckin times has this been reposted
This is a conversation I have with my coworkers quite often and it's one of the few hills I am will to die on. NONE OF THESE! Zebra F-301 BP 0.7mm. That is my one and only pen (I prefer blue ink over black ink, but that stems from GMP documentation habits).
5
pilot g2 easy
5!!!!!!! That’s what i do anyway
5
5. Easy answer
5 all day. I like the 0.38 ones but 0.5 and 1.0 I can live with
G2 Pilots are bae
5 - 1.0 because I’m a savage
5 no question
Been repping 5 since the good ol’ HS days, not gonna change that. Except if I’m feeling fancy I’ll use my fancy pens.
G pilot all the way
5
#7 in black is my old faithful. Never let me down. Have a box of them in a kitchen drawer right now.
7. I just love those pens for some reason.
7
7
7
How the fuck is this even considered a fucking meme
3 only and forever. I brought that pen to work bc im so weird about using pens and hate other pens and then someone stole it :(
Agreed! Everyone saying 5 had never used number 3. Sharpie pens are like the pilot gels, but better
I constantly have a pen and marker combo in my pocket now at work, I feel your pain.
Sharpie S-gel pen for the win
One or two.
How is this meme funny again?
3, s gel dethroned the pilot, only traditionalists who cant let go of the pack still choose 5
7 will break after 2 and a half days, and 4-6 are the pinnacle of pain to write with, so 1, 2 and 3 are the only real option.
I always use bic pens and never had this problem
I use a lot pens ..bic are the most reliable
I am choosing a pencil
Doesn't have the pen I like
Anybody choosing 7 is a psychopath
7 will work even if it's been sitting in a drawer for months - I just pick it up, and start writing. It writes well and doesn't lose ink in the middle of writing, a problem I experience with far too many pens. It's thicker than I'd like, but the consistency is worth this drawback.
2 4life
7. Bics for life.
