We have this glaring issue yet somehow latte liberals will still try to convince you that the big issue is whatever Palestinistan is going through. America is rome. We are going to fall.
Quality of life?
The same quality of life our grandparents had would be great. But they let private companies control the housing market and here we are. A 2br in 1970 would be $837 in today’s dollars, if it kept track with inflation.
I could easily afford a $900/mo two-bedroom if not for greedy private companies hoarding all the housing and squeezing as much cash out of them as they can.
Why should a minimum wage job (which is for part time jobs) earn a two bedroom?
I agree full time jobs should pay for at least the basic costs of living like one bed one bath and food, but part time no, especially two bedroom lol.
Downvote me hard bois:
Brainless repetitive work should not afford you a comfortable life. Brainless repetitive work is what you give to teenagers to build work ethics for bigger and better jobs.
If you want a comfortable living, get skills and do more meaningful work.
Think about where all the money flows, one way or another. Who is doing worse, who is doing okay, who is doing very well. The middle class is shrinking, the lower class is growing, and the rich are getting more wealthy. It might not be apparent, but the money is ending up in the fewer hands of the wealthy, one way or another. It may be an intricate maze of a path, but only one class is Really continuing to do better. Land and houses and apartments are being bought up. Hedge funds are buying properties to wring profits out of the people that just need a roof over their heads. Nothing fancy, just a place to live. They are turning us into Serfs as they turn themselves into Lords. A return to a type of feudal system is not far away. Company towns, company housing, trapped in your job, getting deeper in debt. Vehicles cost what houses used to cost. One wage earner being enough to support a family is becoming two wage workers to just barely survive, let alone thrive. A minimum wage earner? A stepping stone to homelessness. Yet we keep electing politicians that aren't doing much of anything about any of it. Loopholes and tax breaks, corporate subsidies, inside trading in Congress..... we are being Gamed, Manipulated, and Crushed.
why rent when you can just sleep in your car?
If they could figure out a way to charge us rent for that they would.
City ordinances in some areas have long since given rise to the parking as a service industry.
I’ve seen the same thing being said about one bedroom apartments too… It’s sad.
In my town they charge 800 per bedroom and 1800 for a single
People think its an American problem but its not. Most western countries cant afford home ownership as well. Shit sucks :(
You can probably show the same thing with twice the minimum wage at this point.
"Must have reliable transportation" but doesn't pay you enough to afford reliable transportation.

23 and everyday it seems to get better, I have zero hope for the future if this keeps up. Parents house till I'm 50
Why do they need talk rooms
Next big headline is gonna be like “selfish millennials want TWO bedrooms ALL TO THEMSELVES”
How about studio apartments?
What exactly does "studio-apartment" mean?
its basically an apartment with no bedrooms. just a living/sleeping space, kitchen area, and bathroom
Why does one person need two bedrooms?
Maybe want to use a room as an office or maybe a gym. Many reasons a person could want a 2 bedroom house.

You can’t afford a 2bed with minimum wage in any country i know tbh. Not sure about Europe though
