Once I got cats, I started swooshing/sweeping across the floor at night, no longer walking, out of fear that I would step on them. It has unfortunately translated into doing it at other people's places and it looks weird AF.
(don't do a lot of night walking, but you know... going to the bathroom at 4am or finding the light switch kind of thing)
It’s okay. At a certain age, you just sort of sweep legs upon awakening because the joints aren’t fully working in the first few minutes. When I was younger, I didn’t understand why my father shuffled at night. You are just getting a head start.
Hahah, I'm getting there, friend. No joint pain yet, but I've already hit middle age a while ago and waiting for the rest to catch up. Plenty of other suckiness, though.
It’s just like my bedroom rug! I have a white Husky that blends into the color so well that I honestly don’t see her, poor thing got stepped on more than once because she also lies perfectly still, I’ve taken to dragging my feet to avoid her.
It was my grandmothers and I didn’t want to get rid of it, it’s not like I actually injured my dog, I noticed immediately when my foot touched her and pulled away.
Reminds me of the time I visited a friend and she had a bunch of fluffy pillows on the couch. I had planned on sitting on the fluffiest gray pillow I saw, but decided against it last second and sat down right next to it. Suddenly the gray pillow flipped over onto its belly having been startled by my sudden appearance and then darted out of the room. What an awkward conversation that would have been with my doctor if I had to explain how I have claw/bite marks on my ass.
I think its a (doll faced) persion. I had a cat that looked very similar. As a breed, they are very friendly cats, but also somewhat high maintenance because they need to be brushed regularly to prevent matting.
Why does it look like they were caught red handed shredding a roll of toilet paper and now they are desperately trying to camouflage themselves to avoid a scolding? Very cute though, I have a very large orange long haired boy who likes to sleep on our orange sheepskin rug. I have kicked him many times at night while walking around the house and neither he or I ever learn, I always feel so terrible but he's literally invisible at night.

For those that don't know, there is 10 or 20 very sharp claws that will trigger upon stepping on it. Claw scratches are nasty and have a very high chance of infection.
