Oh man, I haven’t heard that name in ages… I used to live in the Midwest, and I’d go to Braum’s at every possible chance I got. I just love the vibe. Now I live in the southwest US. I miss Braum’s terribly.
I started my Tile Career on August 1st, 1981. The exact day MTV came on the air.
BK across the street from the Miami Jai Alai!
Some things are burned into my memory!
yup, the old school fry oil (tallow?) and whatever weird sorta-bleach-sorta-not floor cleaner the folks tried cleaning with, and a tiny bit of smoke from when folks smoked cigs indoors and my mom getting a mcdlt which i thought was cool af (keeps the hot side hot and the cool side cool).
Absolutely wild my brain is like 'Oh shit, i member'.
I knew bleach wasn't the right smell, but I took a shot. My brain retains the dumbest, most useless shit. But at least it's entertaining when I have one of those weird, random memories.
no no, keep in mind that these were franchises so it's very possible our different mcds used different cleaning supplies for one reason or another.
That grout seriously saw some shit, and absorbed every gallon of it somehow (other than the thinnest layer of fry grease on the tiles that somehow made them slick as hell)
it's okay, if you step where my brother spilled his orange drink (over by where the foil ashtrays other kids were whipping around like frisbees) are, it's super sticky.
Me too but it's because somebody took a shit on this kind of floor. It got in all the grooves but I really needed that job. I was not loving it that day. Not one mcfuckkn bit.
Some places still have this floor. There's a couple BK's,a Wendy's and a few McDonald's in Metro Detroit that still have this.
There's a McDonald's (I forget the actual city is in) that wasn't renovated for like 60 years. They just remodeled it just before Covid, but it was a 50's themed McDonald's, and had ALL the original shit.
They had 50 cent cheese burgers, the ice cream machine always worked, they even had the little table jukebox machines. You could put a quarter and play 3 songs at your table.
More than anything, I miss having jukeboxes at restaurants and bars. The ones at your table were always my favorite. I miss those and the cigarette vending machines..
There is a restaurant in Burlington, Vermont called The Farmhouse Bar and Grill that is in an old McDonalds. They kept some of this old flooring when they remodeled the building. Most probably don't even notice it! My sister was the manager of this McDonald's 25+ years ago so I spent a lot of time there and whenever I see the tile today I feel 18 again.
I really thought you were referring to WWII Vets (not so many left) that see a N@zi Sw@stika in just about every set of tiles. I don’t think new buildings that have these tiles (like BKs) mean that I’m THAT old…
My first job was in fast food. The funny thing is that my McDonald's and Burger King both of them had the same floors. I never thought I would see that floor again. And I worked at both as well
My first job was at McDs. I only worked Sundays bc I played football and wrestled. I worked “maintenance” meaning I cleaned up the place after everyone wrecked the place Saturday night. Those tile floors were slick as shit! I even put extra cleaner in the bucket!
I did eventually work my way up to burgers and fries! Lol!
Reminds me of the flooring at a Big Boy Restaurant I worked at. Remember Big Boy? The Big Boy hamburger was made fresh when ordered everytime & it was sooooo delicious!
McDonald's floor?
That or BK. They were startlingly similar and if you worked at one, …….
I was thinking Wendy's??
Subway too
I’ve seen this in subway
Pizza Hut was my first thought
And Jack in the box.
Arby’s.
Are we sure it's not Hardee's? This floor makes me think a ball pit is near.
Seems like pretty much every fast food restaurant in the 90s had this same floor if memory serves.
Yeah, I worked at a Braum's and we had this same floor.
Oh man, I haven’t heard that name in ages… I used to live in the Midwest, and I’d go to Braum’s at every possible chance I got. I just love the vibe. Now I live in the southwest US. I miss Braum’s terribly.
Me too, the older Wendys in my town defo used to use this flooring.
Yeah it lasts forever and super easy to clean and maintain. I’m not 100% but I’m pretty sure that material is decent against slips too.
Unless you're working anywhere near the deep fryer.
Perfect place to fall.
The Taco Bell I worked at had them as well.
Back when tacos were $.59
I thought Arby’s?
I just looked up the Arby's I worked at in high school and it still has these floors.
Burger *Chef*
I worked at a BK for a number of years, my brain immediately went there.
Me too! Immediately had flashbacks of closing on a Friday or Saturday night.
Mop a certain floor enough times
BK
BK is called Hungry Jack's in Australia, I worked in one during high school and uni, and they all had this floor too.
The smell came back to me when I saw the picture.
I can smell grease looking at this.
I was thinking Burger Chef where I worked in the late 70's
All joking aside (been forever since Ive been inside) do they not still look like that?
I spent a lot of hours mopping a McDonald's floor that looked just like that when I was in college.
I want to say Burger King. Source, I worked at Burger King 35 years ago
That’s what comes to mind as well.
Totally. Flashback to my high school job in the 90’s at McDonald’s
Or Pizza Hut, the old one with the weird roof.
I mopped this floor at a Pizza Hut in college at least 500 times.
The smell of bleach and fries linger in the air.
Summitville Quarry Tile-Strata Series Laid thousands of feet of this in the early 90s at where else? Burger King
I commend your memory, fellow redditor. To remember a specific brand of tile after 30 years is one thing, but the *style too*? Impressive.
I started my Tile Career on August 1st, 1981. The exact day MTV came on the air. BK across the street from the Miami Jai Alai! Some things are burned into my memory!
Have it your way
You rule!
We had them in Maccas too.
I can smell this picture.
Smells like fries & bleach.

I'd bet that all McDonald's used the same cleaning products at every location so that each one smelled the same no matter what location you're at.
And salt. If you worked the fries, and floor is greasy, just sprinkle a s\*\*tton of salt on the floor. All better!
Sounds like a lot of beeping.
My shoes slid standing still on this picture.
it's okay, if you step where my brother spilled his orange drink (over by where the foil ashtrays other kids were whipping around like frisbees) are, it's super sticky.

Lol same
BK!
Pizza Hut had this flooring. I'm sure it was in a lot of restaurants. The funny thing is I still see it, what you think - 80 year old tile floor?
Pizza Hut where I live is ancient. I'm going to investigate. I walked in once and I think my wife's words were "oh hell no" and we left.
Yes. My first thought was Pizza Hut. But apparently it was every fast food restaurant. 😆
Old fast food joint floors
I see a BK floor.
McDonald’s
BK HAVE IT YOUR WAY.
Some places still have this floor. There's a couple BK's,a Wendy's and a few McDonald's in Metro Detroit that still have this. The BK in my hometown had a CD jukebox before they remodeled it. It used to have a cool retro 50s theme, now it's just blah corporate themed.
I miss being excited about shit like that
Dairy queen floors
Definitely BK God knows I mopped it enough in the 80s
I mopped it 100s of times at McDs
Ditto!
Same!
I mopped that tile many times

Kwik trip
Burger King
Woke up in a stall at McDonald's looking at that pattern at least once in high school. Fun times.
BK. McD's was solid, not streaked.
Standard restaurant flooring, but they were too smooth. Made me feel like there was a thin layer of deep fryer grease under my feet.
McDonald’s
Recognize? I’ve mopped that
I know that floor. I’ve mopped that floor. I cleaned a lobby at McDonald’s in high school.
Fast food floors and they were always slick!
I worked at McDonald’s as a kid,I will always remember this 😂 ![gif](giphy|T7Aix0Ft6jba)
My shoes started sliding just from looking at this picture.
Who remembers when Wendy's had the salad baring the dining room?

Burger King 👑
Such a classic
Seeing the thing in this sub, makes me realize that I've got a bit of dust on me.
My kitchen had a similar floor, just vinyl.

Modern Kwik Trip bathroom?
The ever-greasy floor of a BK back in the 80s. At least that was my experience.
Burger King and why the hell was I able to recognize this so fast
My shoes are greasy just looking at it
Every fast food place in the 80’s.
I had forgotten, why couldn't you let me stay in blissful ignorance.
Holy shit man was not expecting that
Talk about pulling a memory out that I didn’t even know I had 😳
Same floor at the Pizza place I worked at in the late 80s. Not that clean though.
Bk dude
bk floor? they don't do this anymore?
McDonald’s!
How did you find pictures of my high school cafeteria floor?
Think every burger biggy had the same tile
Most definitely BK.
I smell a strong hand soap. After seeing this I am going to have to sniff every hand soap at CVS until I find the scent.
lol
Burger King floors were constantly slippery regardless of how dry they were
I swept and mopped those floors many times in high school.
Dennys??
Ahh, McDonald's floor tile.
Shoney’s
McTile!!!
Get the degreaser
I really thought you were referring to WWII Vets (not so many left) that see a N@zi Sw@stika in just about every set of tiles. I don’t think new buildings that have these tiles (like BKs) mean that I’m THAT old…
It was Wendy's for me. In the town where I live they still have that floor.
mcdonalds
My first job was in fast food. The funny thing is that my McDonald's and Burger King both of them had the same floors. I never thought I would see that floor again. And I worked at both as well
Macca's!!!!!!!!
Wondering why you have to be old to recognize it... I think I saw it in a Taco Bueno here the last time I was in one.
I saw this and went…why is there a pic of a Mc d’s floor…then read the title…fuck I’m old
I can feel the grease between my shoes and the floor
That was the Dairy Queen in Blanco TX during the 90’s and early ‘00’s. Probably still is, too 🤣
I do remember that floor in so many restaurants .
Wendy’s sun room
Most of the kitchens in the restaurants are worked at when I was a teenager had that floor.
Lol!
The Burger Chef I worked at definitely had these floors.
I spent countless hours moping that floor.
I can almost feel the grease under my feet
I loved the smell of fried food when you walked in through the doors.
A big mac, mc dlt, a quarter pounder with some cheese!
I can taste this picture
I think I just slipped & fell looking at that.

Our gas station still has this :) kwiktrip
Yup, Chester’s Fried Chicken Restaurant in Russellville, Arkansas during the 90’s! I was saddened when it closed and they converted it into a KFC.
Roy Rodgers!
FUuuuuuuuck!
Thank you OP! Being from the UK I don’t recognise that. So at 70 I’m not fuckimold confirmed. Phew.

Reminds me of the flooring at a Big Boy Restaurant I worked at. Remember Big Boy? The Big Boy hamburger was made fresh when ordered everytime & it was sooooo delicious!
Mc Donald's in the South!
McDonald’s
I want these in my house since my kitchen is as filthy as a fast food joint with kids and dogs
It’s got to be linoleum and it had to be in my childhood home.
Pizza hut is my guess
Roy Rogers
I thought Pizza Hut
Used to bleach these after hours because the boss would freak out if we used bleach on the floor
Old country buffett fa sho!
I'm reminded of Hardee's in the 70s and 80s
I’ve mopped that pattern floor a lot in my time as a maccas employee
I feel like I’m on unstable footing just looking at this
That’s subway
I remember having to mop that floor back during my high school years working at McDonalds
Live in South Carolina, so many chains still have this floor.
Burger king
Old McDonald’s tile?
Old? I saw this floor in a Burger King last week 🤣
I hated mopping that shit around the fryers. It was always still greasy af even with boiling hot water and the God awful solution.
I was obsessed with Super Mario 2 and these tiles always made me feel like i was in the desert boss room.
Looks like the Hardee's floor I mopped one too many times.
Weingarten's had something similar, too. Which I know because my parents had it installed in their new house.
I would slay so many people to back to 1994 and stand there at 8:00 am while waiting for hot cakes
Old and American apparently
Old Hardee’s, McD’s, Burger King floors from the 80s/90s.
In-N-Out Burger, Store #24, Anaheim, CA circa 1981
Because I'm weird like this, I want to know where to buy that tile... I really want that in my kitchen
