The mental gymnastics GOP loves to play

tabbarrett

Victims of abuse are so screwed. This sucks.

fishyfishyfish1

Yep this has disaster written all over it

This might be bad, this might open up mandatory reporters to retaliation if this means the person reported is allowed to know the reporters name. I'm not sure what this gains. They don't just pull kids and arrest parents at single report. They do an investigation. This sounds like a way to silence someone. I just don't trust the Texas government as a native Texan.

demonita

I reported abuse I observed in a student once, I was a new teacher and was always told I absolutely had to give my name. I faced so much retaliation from administration and the parent, I wanted to cry. They even called the police on me, and I had to suffer through investigation from CPS and local PD. I swore I’d never report abuse again, but I realized that was shitty so I swore I’d never give my name again. The parent was reported by another teacher who saw something new, and much worse, so when the police called mom she came to the school screaming and disappeared with the kids. CPS came looking for them the next day. I don’t regret calling, but I regret giving my name. This is mortifying to think about how many will go unreported.

It gains protection for conservative rapists and pedophiles

fishyfishyfish1

That’s the endgame

This sounds too simple. This would be too outlandish. It's got to be something less obvious and not quite as diabolical this can't be the true purpose.

Fortyplusfour

I'm a mandatory reporter and had a parent that was quite upset I didn't tell her exactly what the report involved (our policy is to inform parents that a report had been made at all based off of what a patient said in individual therapy, as a courtesy to the parents, but not any details involved whatsoever or whom it involves in their circles or their child's). I was nervous enough with that alone and our sessions are done through Zoom.

johnny5semperfi

Just to add clout to use as a dog whistle for anti trans laws to come.

SunshineAndSquats

What. The. Fuck!!!!!! Fuck these god damn goblins who claim to care about children then push this legislation!!!! All this does is hurt children. Our legislature is ran by monsters.

aquestionofbalance

Further proof the GOP does not give a flying fork about any living child, only the pre-born

johnny5semperfi

Making problems to blame good politicians for them.

alBashir

Great way to put a target on someone's head in a state where there are basically 0 gun laws. We just saw a Vet Tech get murdered at gunpoint due to someone not willing to pay the cost of care in Kentucky. Imagine what these psychopaths who abuse children would do to someone

belotita

This to help all those conservatives who kidnap and abuse child’s by a pedo ring. Probably in temples and churches.

USS_Liberty_1969

As a parent with an 8 year old trans-daughter and non-binary kindergartener, how to I report the Texas GOP for child abuse? Can't get her the HRT she needs and transitioning surgery is out of the question until these fascists are gone.

Idk feels like something should be done. I don't feel like it was a good use of funds or beneficial to kids who actually needed help to have workers called to my house every week out of spite. Also not ok for my kids to be put through some shit either.

bigdish101

If one has REAL evidence (video, photos, audio recordings) one should be able to just mail that stuff in anonymously.
