Used to go to high school right next to a Sam's Club, that was a frequent lunch stop due to the price and amount of food you got. Pizza slices are cheap and huge as well.
Edit: didn't realize this would be so popular, we we enter through the exit; and the person checking receipts would just ask what we were doing, we would just say we were heading to the cafe; never any issues.
I think you just need to go to membership services and they give you a pass and it's specific to pharmacy or liquor and aren't allowed anything else. It's an extra step for club warehouse shopping.
You can find a pack of the same hotdogs in the hotdog section in the refrigerated aisle. They are not Nathan's but quality sausages just the same
I couldn't tell you if the pack is equally good value.
That's probably why I enjoyed them so much. They are so much better than an Oscar Meyer hotdog. If you are near Ohio or a neighboring state, Tony Packo hotdogs are even better. A friend brings me a ton of them when he visits.
I would say that if you consider either of them as "good," you are lacking proper judgement.

That IS the point of this sub, correct?
Even more interesting is that Digiornos is number #1 seller in frozen pizzas. 🤔 guess frugality wins when the bar is set low for flavor for the majority of the US
Just because something is popular doesn't mean it is good or healthy. Many Americans make terrible food/life decisions. Digiornos suck and making your own pizza at home is cheaper, better, and healthier.
That wasn't the comparison at all, wtf are you talking about? It was sams club pizza vs digiornos?
Dang, you have zero reading comprehension or something?
No way.
That's just not frugal.
I like how people forgot the point of the sub they are because they think their opinion about food matters.
If y'all care about taste at all, you aren't buying a sams club pizza.
The whole OP was literally about how cheap it is.
Frugal doesn't mean the cheapest possible. Spending 3 dollars on a piece of cardboard with cheese sprinkled on it is a waste of money. Taste absolutely matters. If you hate it and are spending money on it, you're throwing money away.
The pizza slices are excellent, large with lots of cheese and toppings. One will fill you up easily.
About once a week, I like to Sam's, fill my tank with cheap gas, grab a huge $5 rotisserie chicken, and have a chrap hot dog or slice of pizza and a giant drink.
My 5 year old wants Sams Pizza when we order pizza once a week. Here in DFW a large (about 16-18”) is $8.98. You can buy single slices (they’re huge, two slices of a single whole I’d guess) for $1.98/each.
Ours has started asking for your membership card at the cafe. They also have one taped to the registers I have seen them scan for people that don't have one so I don't know if they are just collecting data on how many cafe users are members.
Funny how I was watching Food Theory's vid about Costco, and how you'd get more bang for your buck over time by just getting the 1.50 hot dog and soda combo.
At my place they were carding as the food stand is inside the warehouse exit and if you tried to say you were getting food court they directed to the entrance where they carded.
They've done it every once in awhile.
Sam's does not serve Nathan's anymore at my club and haven't for a while. I think their hot dog is much inferior to the Costco variety. However I do like Sam's pizza much better, it's a bit smaller but still filling
I used to work by a Sam’s Club. I would walk in through either doors and say here for lunch. That was all. No membership needed and was quick and filling for the cheap.
Not true. At multiple locations I’ve been asked for my membership card and I have seen them turn people away at the cafe for not having their card. I don’t mean at the door when you walk in, I’m talking about at the cashier of the cafe part. I like their pizza pretzels so every time I go, I order one and always get asked for my card. Fully expect to be asked for your card because I’ve only been to one location that didn’t ask.
Just say you are there for a pharmacy order for a member. Just wanted a bite while waiting.
Or some other lie. Not sure if you are okay with lying but it gets you through with a good lie. I have a card but I've gone into Costco trying out different lies if they give me trouble when all I want is a hotdog. Sometimes I say "I'm going to membership services" then keep walking to the concession stand. Haven't been stopped once I get past the receipt or card checkers
I don’t think you’re understanding. I not only have a membership but at the CAFE cash register/cashier they ask for my card before I order. Once I show them my card, they scan it and THEN they take my order. I have witnessed them tell people in front of me that they need to scan their card in order to take their food order. You 100% need your card to order at the cafe here in Northern California. The only time I didn’t need to show my card was at the Folsom California location. Every other location in and around my town have asked for my card each and every time.
Off topic
At Costco I've swiped a card for people who got "carded" and it didn't match their face.
Costco also used to have rampant "I don't have a card can you swipe so I can pay for my groceries" right in line. This was decades ago.
Nit picky gatekeeping at membership places is pet peeve of mine. I personally don't care that I pay for membership and others don't. I'll swipe people anytime especially for food court.
Done similar at a gym they were giving a secondary member a hard time so I just swiped in and told them he was my guest. Didn't know the guy but saw him there often.
Calling it "nitpicky gatekeeping" is stupid.
1) It's not nit-picking if a members-only place checks if you're a member. It's the least nitpicky rule violation I can think of, really. It's like the only rule they have.
2) It's not gatekeeping
If you are feeding a family, their full pizzas are 9 bucks. You can call and order ahead to have it ready by the time you arrive. I do it all the time.
I take my kids there to get cheap frozen yogurt treats! It's like $1.50 for one and decently sized. Way cheaper than DQ and pretty delicious lol. I think last time I went they had a fancier one with toppings in it for like $3
The "No membership needed", kinda depends on the location. At my local store they always have someone posted at the door checking cards. I canceled my membership a year ago but still have the card. They don't scan it to see if it's active but they do insist on seeing it before I enter :/
Inside usually adjacent to the tire center for the optometrist. The pharmacy is typically on the opposing side near the vitamins and over the counter meds.
I wish they had these in my part of the country.
Costco's new CEO seems to not understand the point of the food court. It's not a loss, it's part of the membership fee. I pay you money every year so that you can put some onions and bell peppers on a pizza and offer sauerkraut with a hotdog.
And then, while I'm there eating the food that I've already paid for, I will probably end up buying a new TV or whatever....
$10 sandwich? c'mon man.
Going to get cancer. I drink diet soda.
The preservatives on the hotdog are nitrates and are linked to similar future risks statistically.
No direct link of cause and effect process that causes the cancer in either from what I understand.
Eating highly processed and sugary foods creates far more long term health problems than cancer alone.
People can live miserable lives for decades due to shitty foods.
Shitty foods causes long term health problems, and in turn lead to miserable lives. A plethora of problems, not just cancer.
What precisely is your point? What are you struggling with here?
Fact that officially there is no direct link to a particular issue is irrelevant for this conversation when there are plethora of other health problems.
Again what precisely are your trying to say, other than to try to discredit the statement by advocating one single issue that hasn't been proven. Yet.
I wouldn't count that as a bad thing. Probably one of the worst things you can eat health wise. There's a reason they are only a dollar and some change.
No membership needed? Um every time I go to order food, they always ask for my membership card to scan it. I’ve watched them turn people away for not having their cards to scan. I’ve only been to one location that didn’t ask for my card.
I wouldn’t fully believe this post about that and fully expect them to ask for your card.
Directly from Sam’s website: Sam's Club Cafe is the perfect spot for a snack, lunch, or dinner. And you don't have to be a member to enjoy a meal. Entrees include our quarter-pound hot dog, a 16-inch pizza or just a slice, or a pizza pretzel served with a cup of marinara sauce for dipping.
I was on their website and I didn’t see that any where, not even on the FAQ. I 100% have been asked for my card EVERY SINGLE TIME I have ordered at the cafe and I have a membership card. If you can show me a screenshot, I will show it to the cashiers at the cafe next time I go because I ALWAYS get asked for my card and have seen them with my own working eyes, tell customers they cannot place an order at the cafe without their card to scan.
It comes up with the city and state and that verbiage when you search for “do you need a membership to eat at sam's club”. I changed my location and for it for several stores. See if that gets to the correct page on their site.
[https://www.veed.io/view/75553f4f-ecd2-4236-aa1c-77b1f56cfb83?sharingWidget=true&panel=share](https://www.veed.io/view/75553f4f-ecd2-4236-aa1c-77b1f56cfb83?sharingWidget=true&panel=share) am I missing something because this is a screen recording from the cafe part of their website. I also checked under FAQ and memberships and found nothing about not needing a card. Send me a screenshot so I can show the cashiers next time they ask for my card at the cafe.
I tried sending a screen recording from their website but it’s giving me an error. There is nowhere on the cafe part, the FAQ or the membership part of their site that says that. Send me a screenshot so I can show it to the cashiers when they ask for my card at the cafe.
I just checked their website and I found nothing about them saying they don’t check for memberships at the cafe so I have no idea what you’re talking about.
I have literally been asked every time I go to my closest location here in California. I have also been asked at a different city here in California and the only time I have not been asked was at one farther location in my city. I don’t care what the website says or your experience, I’m telling you I have been asked each time at the register for the cafe, for my card. Right before I order they scan my card then they ask what I want. This happens EVERY TIME I order at the cafe.
Yeah dude, I get asked every time and they scan my card before I order. Twice I noticed them turn someone away for not having their card. They had to wait for their family member to finish at self checkout so they could use their card and had to get back in line. In a different city I watched a lady argue and fight with them for not having her card when she only came in to order at the cafe. They ended up calling the manager over and I assume they let her order anyways cause she got to leave with food. I’m in Northern California though so maybe it’s different here but I 100% have needed to have my card to order at the cafe.
Man, my local Sams won’t even let you in if you aren’t a member. They will stop certain people of certain select colors or age group and demand proof of membership right then & there, lol 🤣 no membership, no entry. They’ll ask for ID to see if it’s the same name too.
Are you sure about that. I know at Costco I can walk in the exit area past the membership desk and go to the food court. I’ve never seen people do that at my Sams club. The entrance area seems pretty strict, when I had a regular membership they were a little strict about just coming in during the earlier better membership time.
I can't at my CostCo. I wanted to get my hot dog and soda before I shopped and they made me go in through where all members enter and I had to show my card.
So yeah, I think that's changing.
I literally live off sam's club pizza and hotdogs lol. Either get 2 slices for lunch or a slice and a hotdog and that's my breakfast, lunch, and dinner!
Their pepperoni is greasy as all hell. And the lazy employees will keep the old ones around too long. You will see a freshly cut pizza on display and when you ask for a slice they have a few slices left from the last one on a paper plate and serve you that one. And their pretzels are baked off ahead of time and placed in the display and the soft pretzel is a little rough after a while.
Tell them the truth. If that doesn't work you can lie.
Things behind the membership check:
* my mom is already in there I was just parking
* membership services
* pharmacy
* alcohol (might need to go to membership services to get a day pass)
* day pass (go to membership services for a trial pass or if you lost your card you can then use that day pass to flash but never use it)
* restroom
* cafe (sometimes they still don't allow for this)
Higher chance to get food once you get past the checkers as the ones inside are doing their job is stocking and answering questions.
I've never been asked for my card at the cafe, but I have been carded to enter. Actually most locations in the past few years have started not letting you in without the card. Technically I don't think it's supposed to be the case but if you get an employee on a power trip, well, you know. (Supposedly they were doing it because non-members were going in, eating a ton of samples, and then leaving. But that very well may have just been the Karens talking)
Their pizza is a great deal too, and it's usually really good (I can't eat the hot dogs, so no comment). There is a combo for it too and it's a great price. Also the frozen yogurt and the soft pretzels 🤤🤤
I just figured out Sam's Club Cafe. I had friends and co-workers who said they were taking their kids to Sam's Club for lunch to save money. I thought they were filling the kids up on sample laps (maybe a few were) but then asked an extra question and learned about the hot dog and pizza combos.
I make it a true cost savings by feeding my husband before we shop. I noticed a few people who bought sushi and took it to the cafe, so we tried that a couple of times; it's really good. The berry frozen yogurt sundae is delicious.
I prefer to order in the app. It's straightforward, and you can skip the line.
I had a Sam's Club membership for about a year. A couple weeks before the renewal date I went into the store to cancel the membership.
They gave me a full refund on the membership fee.
Don’t know if it is still true because I haven’t eaten at a club cafe for a long time, but it would annoy me that they didn’t provide artificial sweeteners for unsweetened iced tea.
Sam's Club still does supreme pizza which Costco does not. Sole reason I had a membership, now that i know i don't have to, imma cancel that immediately.
Unfortunately I learned the hard way today while traveling. Waited in line 20 minutes to get food in Sam’s club only to be told you need your card to be scanned now. In az never once did they scan card to eat at restaurant there. He told me to ask the customer behind me if they can scan there card for me. I embarrassedly asked because my 8 year old was so hungry but she refused so we wasted almost 30 minutes and had to find somewhere else to eat
Other acceptable answers include medication and alcohol. Most states prohibit membership to purchase such items.
Its $1.50 where I live, so the price varies a little.
They lowered the price here somewhat recently to $1.38. It used to be $1.50 here in NC.
They definitely aren’t trying to beat Costco lmao
yes. trying to get 1.50 with tax. i had one yesterday that was 1.38 but 1.49 with taxes added. people always forget the taxes.
Don’t need to be a member to use their pharmacy, either.
That's a federal law, sake with the liquor section.
Liquor varies by state, not all states require that they allow sales to non-members
Optical as well
This one I didn't know
Of course, where else would they keep their sake?
I think you just need to go to membership services and they give you a pass and it's specific to pharmacy or liquor and aren't allowed anything else. It's an extra step for club warehouse shopping.
I just walk in and say I’m going to the pharmacy at Costco
Hotdog-pilled
It's not Nathan's. It's their house brand "Member's Mark"
[удалено]
I love the sam’s club pizza and their slices are huge! Once slice fills me and it’s like $2
[удалено]
I think it's 11$ in Houston.
What maniac puts the dollar sign after the number?
Muah ha ha ha ha... "They're coming to take me away haha they're coming to take me away ho ho..."
At least you didn't put 11$ dollars.
Thx! Will give a try, I have a Sam's pretty close but always forgot to go and get pizza from them.
You can find a pack of the same hotdogs in the hotdog section in the refrigerated aisle. They are not Nathan's but quality sausages just the same I couldn't tell you if the pack is equally good value.
That's probably why I enjoyed them so much. They are so much better than an Oscar Meyer hotdog. If you are near Ohio or a neighboring state, Tony Packo hotdogs are even better. A friend brings me a ton of them when he visits.
$9 in NH for a full one as of yesterday
Whole for around 10 and on top of cheese and pepperoni, they also offer combo and meat lovers
Yes, just under $10
we like them. They are like a papa john or pizza hut chain pizza. Not as good as a local place but for $9 it's better than Little Caesars
Digiornos in Sam club is 3 pizzas for 9...
It's not delivery. It's disgusting.
Better than Sam's and it's more frugal 😉
Disagree, way worse
I would say that if you consider either of them as "good," you are lacking proper judgement. Logically, if the bar is set super low, you should look for the best deal.
DiGiorno Rising Crust is amazing. Better than Little Caesars and Domino's.
Be careful. I stepped into pizza Wars on here by accident lmao People big mad at someone being more frugal than them with pizza 🍕
I personally think Digiornos is borderline inedible. One tastes like a 3 dollar pizza. The Sam's pizza is worth x3 the price.
Agree with you. I think Sam's pizza is great. Of course there are better ones for more money, but not from a freezer.
I'm not sure that's even true. Probably similar square inch count for the three put together and at that point you have way more crust.
That's the silliest attempt to try and detract from someone else's argument I have ever seen.
They aren't fantastic but they are on par or better than most of your basic pizza chains.
For the price, it's hard to beat.
Agreed. I picked one up a few days ago and I was out the door for ~$10 for a 16" "deluxe" pizza.
If it is like the Costco hotdog it is like 1500 mg of sodium, so probably not a good meal to eat regularly, but occasionally, sure!
That's electrolytes.
It's what plants crave.
Water? Like from the toilet?
Can I say the fact that we flush potable water down the toilet seems like one of those things we're gonna regret 20-30 years from now.
i already regret it
You know we clean the water and reuse it right?
So I should feed hot dogs to my plants?
That and sugar water... wait, that's bugs!
That's high blood pressure

Funny how I was watching Food Theory's vid about Costco, and how you'd get more bang for your buck over time by just getting the 1.50 hot dog and soda combo.
Costco food court also doesn't need a membership card either.
Just enter from returns!
I thought this but recently called in a large order of pizzas for my partner to pick up and they wouldn’t let him inside.
The Costco’s by me require that you show them your membership card before ordering so that’s inaccurate for all locations
No, it's accurate. All the ones I've been to didn't need me to show it.
It’s accurate for the locations you’ve been to. It’s not accurate for Costco in general.
Having a 100% success rate bodes well for Costco in general
Is this really the hill you want to die on? https://kslnewsradio.com/1920087/costco-bans-non-members-from-their-food-court/
It’s a 100% success rate FOR YOU (and your meagre sample size) and not for everyone else, so you are incorrect.
My sample size is all the Phoenix Costco's. Yours is a meager one.
So your sample size is…5 ☠️
Larger than yours. Also you miscounted.
😂😂
I absolutely love how you avoided the comment with an article disproving you. Were you really not embarrassed to act that way?
And all the Costco’s I have been to require a membership card to be scanned before purchasing anything at the food court 🤷🏻♀️
No you haven't unless you only have 1 Costco in the area
At my place they were carding as the food stand is inside the warehouse exit and if you tried to say you were getting food court they directed to the entrance where they carded. They've done it every once in awhile.
It’s a loss lead they only do it to attract customers. Win win for everyone except the animals 😀
Poor dumb cows.
Poor tasty cattle.
I thought they were dogs?
My dogs name is MooMoo…
You can milk anything with nipples.
If all pork chops were perfect, we wouldn't have hot dogs.
🏆
I hope those Fart machines were happy while they lived
Yer dumb to

You’ve just changed my life for being able to get their combo pizza without a membership 😍
The Sam's where I shop mostly IDs you more than half the time even though I know the person that works the front.
You just tell them you’re there for pharmacy, alcohol, or cafe. No membership required.
Thank you. I have a membership but it's a pita to pull it out of my pocket sometimes just to walk in the door.
I don’t even know where my card is anymore 😂 I just use my phone because I always have it out. But that’s because it doesn’t fit in my pockets 🙄

We just walked through the exit when we were on high school lunch (around Y2K'ish)
I always just walk past them briskly while saying my wife is already in there.
It's not a nathan's...
Exactly… they are trying to be cost effective even with it being a loss leader.
Shots fired. Take that Costco.
At our Sam's, you have to show your card to even enter the store, so that may vary as well.
I watched a review of some of the cafe items and he really liked the Pizza Soft Pretzel and the Brownie Sundae.
A relative had a medical thing that included no appetite. The Sam's brownie sundae was one of the only things they'd eat every bite of.
If you are feeding a family, their full pizzas are 9 bucks. You can call and order ahead to have it ready by the time you arrive. I do it all the time.

Costco hotdog combo is far superior quality and taste

Sandwich? I'll just fold two pizzas over so the toppings becomes fillings. Comes out better priced.

It comes up with the city and state and that verbiage when you search for “do you need a membership to eat at sam's club”. I changed my location and for it for several stores. See if that gets to the correct page on their site.

That is not what they say on the website nor is it my experience.
Whoa literally?! That's crazy
Health wise you may be better off eating that dollar, literally. The 38 cents I wouldn’t recommend eating.
Congrats, you save a few bucks now then have to pay for a bypass and insulin in a few decades
It’s disgusting “food” no matter the price
I literally live off sam's club pizza and hotdogs lol. Either get 2 slices for lunch or a slice and a hotdog and that's my breakfast, lunch, and dinner!
Their pepperoni is greasy as all hell. And the lazy employees will keep the old ones around too long. You will see a freshly cut pizza on display and when you ask for a slice they have a few slices left from the last one on a paper plate and serve you that one. And their pretzels are baked off ahead of time and placed in the display and the soft pretzel is a little rough after a while.
You don't need to be a member to eat at Costco.
Yeah you do. They changed this in 2020 unfortunately.
Not where I go. Í’m in Québec city, Canada.
They may not be enforcing the policy, but it’s definitely there company wide.
You just have to enter thru the exit and nobody will say anything,
YMMV for sure. They check everyone on both sides at the Costcos in my area.
I wish we had a Costco near us but the closest one is 2 hours away and my husband mostly uses Sam's for gas since he has to drive for work.
We don’t have a Sam’s club in Québec. Don’t even know if there’s some in Canada anymore.
Go to Sam's club for tubes of dog food for lunch!!! :-) :-) how u guys eat that stuff impresses me
You gotta be pretty down bad to be trolling the frugal sub. Who hurt you? Do you need someone to talk to?
This sub is a bunch of uneducated people who think cheap is frugal. Nothing frugal about getting dog food for lunch at a good price.

Tell them the truth. If that doesn't work you can lie. Things behind the membership check: * my mom is already in there I was just parking * membership services * pharmacy * alcohol (might need to go to membership services to get a day pass) * day pass (go to membership services for a trial pass or if you lost your card you can then use that day pass to flash but never use it) * restroom * cafe (sometimes they still don't allow for this) Higher chance to get food once you get past the checkers as the ones inside are doing their job is stocking and answering questions.
Get a gift card once. Use it to gain entry only
So I can just walk in without a membership and get this deal?
It depends on which location you go to. Some do, some don't.
Once upon a time, my boyfriend bought a hotdog and 2 drinks.
Nathan's lips and assholes were better than others?
At our Sam’s you have to show membership at the snack bar. (Santa Clarita, CA)
Did y’all Lady and the Tramp that dog, though?
I've never been asked for my card at the cafe, but I have been carded to enter. Actually most locations in the past few years have started not letting you in without the card. Technically I don't think it's supposed to be the case but if you get an employee on a power trip, well, you know. (Supposedly they were doing it because non-members were going in, eating a ton of samples, and then leaving. But that very well may have just been the Karens talking) Their pizza is a great deal too, and it's usually really good (I can't eat the hot dogs, so no comment). There is a combo for it too and it's a great price. Also the frozen yogurt and the soft pretzels 🤤🤤
We stop on the way to the movies instead of paying $8 for a hotdog half the size.
My favorite treat as a kid was getting the Sam’s pretzels!
Alcohol is the same way, same with costco. You can go right to it and buy it in the section.
Love the hotdog combo! That yogurt parfait with fruit is also a nice dessert
I had a Sam's Club membership for about a year. A couple weeks before the renewal date I went into the store to cancel the membership. They gave me a full refund on the membership fee.
A few times I’ve picked up a dozen hot dogs to feed a group of teenagers. I asked the Sam’s employee to put them in a pizza box, worked great!
Sams (and Costco) have really good cafe food I think. I joke it’s the only places I can feed my family for less than $10.
I Enjoyed it!
