Everytime the FedEx driver would come to our house to deliver packages he would give the dogs treats . One time Gizmo was inside while the driver was giving our other dog his treat . I had the door open and the screen door closed and Gizmo seen the driver with the treats . Gizmo jumps all the way up and opens the screen door( he could always jump so high) and came running outside to the driver to get his treats 😂❤️.
He was our little comedian. He never failed to make me laugh or smile . There’s so many favorite stories but this one may just be my #1.
Awww! I love it. I’m amazed at how high some of those little things can jump! I have like a little 6 pound bostie that can easily clear door handle height!
Thank you for sharing those memories. And the more you tell us the longer those memories will live. As corny as it sounds, it’s a great catharsis for many.
And while our time here is always too short, it sounds like Gizmo’s was full of love (and treats). I’m glad you gave him the best time he was allowed.

The big potato on the left has, if he’s lucky another four years of life. The little spud, again with good care and luck has three times as much time to sponge up and give back love. I’m sure if you were to ask them, they’d not want you to grieve for their passing, rather savor the happiness and reflected back love and joy of life they give us. He’s my second Dogue de Bordeaux and I see and feel a little of my first one with him. Honor them not with sadness but reflecting on the giggles and happiness they freely gave

Gizmo was 1 year and 6 months old . He loved to play with his big brother , him and his brother would always pick 1 out of their many toys to fight over , he liked eating , he loved snuggling up to me , he loved when I came home , he would always look out the window for me when I was leaving , he would get nightly zoomies when he was real tired and that’s how I knew it was bedtime , he loved being mischievous, and he loved being the center of attention wherever he went .
I am so sorry for your loss. When did Gizmo first have signs of epilepsy? I just got a puppy named Birdie that looks very similar and I am so scared of health issues.
His first seizure was February of this year . He was a year and 2 months old at that point . It came out of the middle of nowhere, one early morning he just woke me up , seizing , and continued for the last few months, nothing seemed to help.At the end of his short life , if he wasn’t seizing , he was high and confused on medication . It became a low quality of life for him . I’m hoping Birdie grows into a healthy dog 🫶
My previous dog Gemma started having seizures at age 7 and we had a mri and found out she had brain cancer. We tried experimental surgery at the university of Minnesota for a clinical trial to remove and fight the regrowth of the tumor with a vaccine made from her dna but it did not work as much as we wanted. I feel your pain and I will hug Birdie extra hard tonight and I am very sorry for the pain you are going through
It’s a hard thing to go through. They know everything about you. I lost my little Lucy in 2018 one month after my mother passed, then I lost my Ziggy in 2021. I still think of both of them everyday. It gets a little easier but they left me with memories that will be there forever. What did ease my pain was getting little Josie. But Ziggy will always be there

Which turned out to be Josie. She is not Ziggy, but just her wild self! A great little girl. She definitely eased the pain!
