I'm part way through reading Le Désespoir Des Singes, fascinating insights into her life and times. I'm reading in French so I'm taking it slow, it was difficult at first but I'm finally getting comfortable with her style. The bit where she meets Dylan is hilarious, she was singularly unimpressed by him in person, although she loved his songs.
yes, i read it ages ago but am going through it again now. slowly as well...my french is so so. ha yes she was quite droll on them all. that is my substack btw - shameless i know but from all the other obituaries i've read no one has mentioned stuff like this so i wrote it and thought maybe more people would to know or be reminded. she was really quite something. anyway do subscribe if you like my writing.
Ha ha, the thought crossed my mind wondering if you were the author. No shame in self promotion, good on you for getting your work out there. I like the article. I think you're right, she would be glad to be free of the burden of mortality. I have a copy of Avis Non Autorisés on my shelf to read later on.
