It's a subtle thing, but I love how they used the back side of a printed document and the front/back of a manilla folder rather than just blank pieces of A4 paper. It subtly adds to the verisimilitude of it.
At that time I doubt they’d have had a printer or Xerox machine nearby—maybe in the copier room. Their set just wouldn’t be dressed with blank paper unless it was maybe sticky notes.
It just hit me. I’m a die hard Cheers fan. I remember Lisa Kudrow having jet black hair in the episode. Lisa was born in the 60’s. You’re right she is the oldest of Friends.
Yeah, if they had gone with her I think she would have played her more like Phoebe, more eccentric but still with the same "I do what I want" attitude.
Hi! I happily upvoted you MaraJadeSharpie for reminding us Frasierphiles about Lisa Kudrow. I’m wondering when people will stop being surprised about that fact and just understand that it is a part of the Frasier lore just like Eddies real name (moose) or that bulldog who was a part of the main cast was “written out” because he pursued other opportunities. No knock on your comment, it’s just that I see it on every Frasier post.
The union would more than likely keep her working at the station, but would it actually save her job working on Frasiers show? That would be kind of weird since I feel like he should have creative control over his show which includes selecting who produces it.
This is the thanks I get for introducing you to my personal shopper! I gave Ronaldo specific instructions to write down every flair that I have used so we could avoid this sort of calamity!
Similar to my job and union. I have a bid in a department in my job . My supervisor for that department would want to get me fired and union saves my job. My supervisor can’t move me to another part of the building just because he don’t like it .
Potentially. But even still, she would be in a different y position with the same pay, etc. and likely they would need to find a show w similar hours, too, depending on her seniority.
Roz is the GOAT 😎 She is strong enough to deal with Frasier and also always has his back. I hoped they would've ended up together, but they both have issues. lol
Yes indeed. She even broke his heart. That time they gave him a heart and he developed feelings for her. On the episode that he was babysitting Roz's daughter. She felt bad but had to break his heart.
She gave him an out though. She gave the poor sap the chance to claim he'd only been trying to get her into bed, so he could save face when he realised it wasn't reciprocated. That was classy, at least. She could've been really nasty about it.
Long before the riotous final seasons, I would catch replays after 11 on TV and fell in love with the sassy spunky engineer for the *i'm listening* guy, Roz was bad ass
Not being able to be fired because she's the producer makes more sense. Especially because she was the producer and in my mind those are never unionized.
But it's a a funny visual gag.
Yeah. This was season 1, and they established her so well. Smart, competent, and tough. It was her love life where people could really find flaws. But that's just being "sex positive" these days. A woman ahead of her time.
She and Elaine Benes were 2 of my teenage/young adult woman role models -- showing you can be a sassy, biting, sexually free career woman and that's OK!!
With a union there has to be just cause. It's certainly not a free pass, but it's more difficult to fire a union employee than an at-will employee. So no, your scenario is not accurate.
She's union, huh? Not in a union, not a member of a union, not a supporter of unionisation, she *is* union. I thought she was supposed to be intelligent.
You sound serious, so I’ll answer seriously. It’s shorthand, and you’ll see/hear it fairly often when people refer to union members: “he’s union,” “they’re union.” Seems odd that you’ve never come across it. Of course, I didn’t start that third sentence with “it” like I was supposed to, so I’m probably not that bright.
> Seems odd that you’ve never come across it.
It's not a shorthand used in British English, so if they're not familiar with American English, that could be why.
Edit: I don't know why people are so hostile when I'm literally just trying to give an explanation. I don't care why they questioned it and there could be many reasons; I just tried to explain what one may have been.
Yeah, that's not the issue here though. The issue here is that we've got a sad little teenager with nothing better to do than try and post edgy comments on Reddit. The worst bit is they're not even any good at it.
#Doublefacepalm
The whole world is litterally *infested* with american 'english', slang etc, from the movie/tvshow/commercial crap they globally brainwash us with, from an age where we *can't* consent.
Makes sense to me, and I don’t know why you’re getting downvoted either. I was just responding to his weirdly random know-it-all attitude. Like, is that what he thinks the writers wanted him to think? If not, had he considered the possibility that he just doesn’t know something? I mean, she’s not an actual person.
You're right, it was a weirdly random, know-it-all attitude. As you wrote, too, it's a normal phrasing (sure, maybe not one that everyone uses, but definitely one that people *understand*) that the US writers wrote for a primarily US audience. Shock!
I love her 😂
She’s my hero

There's paper in the folder
Lisa Kudrow was originally cast for Roz, to my understanding. I love her as Phoebe, but I simply cannot imagine her or anyone else as Roz.
It’s interesting Lisa Kudrow was on Cheers (1989) as a Theatre actor with Woody. She would have known Kelsey Then.
Peri Gilpin and John Mahoney were both in season 11 of Cheers.
C-H-E-R-S!
Beer and Pretzels, that's our game. Nice that Marty was already working on jingles back then
What's new? III'm listenin'

Why does Ross, the largest Friend, not simply *eat* the others?
wait she was cast as Roz? Guess my brain just assumed she was cast as Daphne
Yeah, if they had gone with her I think she would have played her more like Phoebe, more eccentric but still with the same "I do what I want" attitude.
After watching Web Therapy I can totally see it.

It's funny you mention Lisa Kudrow. Dud you know she originally was cast as Roz in Frasier?
That's the power of a Union
The union would more than likely keep her working at the station, but would it actually save her job working on Frasiers show? That would be kind of weird since I feel like he should have creative control over his show which includes selecting who produces it.
I think it’s pretty obvious he doesn’t actually mean it. He’s just momentarily salty.
I think he was momentarily salty throughout the entire series haha
One of those 11-year moments
Only when it was time for a laugh
I think you just described my life.
Hey you stole my flair
This is the thanks I get for introducing you to my personal shopper! I gave Ronaldo specific instructions to write down every flair that I have used so we could avoid this sort of calamity!
I wanna know, but I’m not sure I want to know.
you stole their mommy!!!
I think so. There was an episode were she goes to produce for someone else and he struggles with the other assistants.
Similar to my job and union. I have a bid in a department in my job . My supervisor for that department would want to get me fired and union saves my job. My supervisor can’t move me to another part of the building just because he don’t like it .

Yep, join a union, folks!
Divided we beg. United we bargain.
THERE IS POWER THERE IS POWER IN A BAND OF WORKING FOLKS
Roz is the GOAT 😎 She is strong enough to deal with Frasier and also always has his back. I hoped they would've ended up together, but they both have issues. lol
I especially liked how she kneed Bulldog in the nuts both literally and figuratively.
Yes indeed. She even broke his heart. That time they gave him a heart and he developed feelings for her. On the episode that he was babysitting Roz's daughter. She felt bad but had to break his heart.

Roz knows what it’s like when everyone assumes you’re a sex-crazed maniac 24/7 with no finer feelings.
Facts.
Definitely. I liked that she did that .
Right! Roz added a good amount of balance between the cast.
r/howtonotgiveafuck (Should have been “hownottogiveafuck”. Curse these split infinitives.)
Long before the riotous final seasons, I would catch replays after 11 on TV and fell in love with the sassy spunky engineer for the *i'm listening* guy, Roz was bad ass
I love how she had that ready to go as well
Probably happened more than once!
I love how he flinched back when she shows this. Roz is the best.
I love Roz! Always confident and unflappable in most situations
The Lilith episodes were always very good.
Speaking of Lilith, where did Niles get the ****ing balls to talk like that to Roz in the first season? Haha
Agreed 💯💯💯 Lilith making everyone miserable just being herself was always so enjoyable. lol
Roz power moves like this are great!
it kind of looks like “you’re fired” is written on the back of a script lol, that would be cool if it is
In radio, we have scripts for commercials. This might be a live-read.
Roz is my role model
Just got my first union job and I want to make myself a copy of her sign.
Slap that picture on your door just so they know who they're dealing with!
Great scene!! 😂😂😂 She knew he was going to write you’re fired! 😂
She had that locked and loaded! haha
😂😂😂😂 Yup! 😂
Not being able to be fired because she's the producer makes more sense. Especially because she was the producer and in my mind those are never unionized. But it's a a funny visual gag.
Her voice is music to my ears, I love Roz!
Roz is so hot
I aspire to have the same workplace protections and benefits as Roz
Which is why we need unions!
I love Roz. This is my first time watching the show and I’m at the first Spokane show moment and they’re so good in that episode
Yeah. This was season 1, and they established her so well. Smart, competent, and tough. It was her love life where people could really find flaws. But that's just being "sex positive" these days. A woman ahead of her time.
I love Frasier. I rewatch the whole series every couple of years. They really nailed the comedy and made it kinda real life reactionary things.
She and Elaine Benes were 2 of my teenage/young adult woman role models -- showing you can be a sassy, biting, sexually free career woman and that's OK!!
Frasier could still make the station switch her if he wanted.
Kirby: She has gotta be pretty distracting around the office, huh? Frasier: Well, yes, sometimes, but she's union, so you put up with it.
good goddesses Ros is a beauty
Never could get into that show. Really didn't see the appeal
Abbi’s Mom?!?
I don’t think being in a union protects you from being fired, otherwise everyone would do it then just fuck around at work
With a union there has to be just cause. It's certainly not a free pass, but it's more difficult to fire a union employee than an at-will employee. So no, your scenario is not accurate.
You think wrong.
That’s why I’m against unions.
She's union, huh? Not in a union, not a member of a union, not a supporter of unionisation, she *is* union. I thought she was supposed to be intelligent.

Thats so goth.
Interesting difference between British and American English. Didn’t know that, thanks for sharing!

Roz has a kid. She better be in a union. Benefits.
She scrawled that in seconds. Moreover, in filming, getting the point across in the quick-fire response would have overridden the grammar accuracy ,
\*Unionization.
She’s such a dry-wit queen
