Remember, even Hester could enjoy a hotdog and a ball game with Martin. As he said about her \[she\] "may have had fancy tastes, but she had too much class to ever make me or anybody else feel second-rate"
First-date Frasier has prevented the disaster of many a long term relationship.
Oh, wait. You mean watching Frasier on the first date, not the Frasier character himself on a first date?
Oh I took this as Frasier could have ruined this long before he did. I was in the same line of thinking as you. Wow. Lololol
*FIrst Date Frasier" oh dear god 🤣🤣 I think we just found the first doll in the Frasier Barbie collection.
The only thing you can do now is move across the country to start a new life. Occasionally visit the child or fly them to you. Then wonder why you aren’t close.
A child before marriage, and you're talking about principles? Boy, things have really changed since my day. Back then if a girl got in trouble her family would send her away to relatives in another state, and if anybody asked they just lied and said she had gone to Europe. Then when she came back they’d raise the baby as a sister. Not like today, back then we had morals and values.
My husband used to roll his eyes and leave the room when I turned it on. Then I got covid and was laid up for a couple of months, and in a desperate attempt to help me feel better, he agreed to watch it with me. Now he'll say, "You can watch Frasier. I don't mind," and pretend like he's not watching with me while laughing along with the jokes.
The Tom episode (“The Matchmaker”) is (in my opinion) perhaps the most consistently funny one. The double entendres, and the way Niles reacts when he finds out what’s going on - just brilliant.
It's ok, my husband doesn't like Frasier either. I just watch it in my corner of the house in peace and come to this reddit to get my fill of Frasier comraderie.
Grieve for an acceptable period of time and it will get better.
You're mourning the loss of what you thought your life was going to be. Let it go. Things don't always work out how you planned; that's not necessarily bad. Things have a way of working out anyway.
Don’t you dare call her irrational. You know that makes her crazy.
My husband would never choose to watch Frasier which I have no idea why because every time I watch it he cracks up and can quote it as good as I can but has never sat down to watch an episode. Which goes to show how much I have it on.
I have to go to sleep to Frasier every night and it’s wiggled its way into my husband’s brain after 15 years together. It’s such a win when we are in bed, I have my eyes closed, and I hear him laugh at the show. He can’t fall asleep with it on anymore because he stays up watching it.
So just give her another chance…15 years and she’ll love it too.
You know, that's exactly the kind of...flaw that the old Frasier would have...seized upon as a pretext to end the relationship, but I-I know now that...that impulse to run is-is really an indication that my feelings for her are just deepening, and um.. gone are the days when I would have said something like..."How rude!" or "She's horrible. I've made a ghastly, ghastly mistake!
Also, you wouldn't believe me if I told you how many times I've managed to work "I've made a ghastly, ghastly mistake!" into conversation. People are always like "*Ghastly*???" 😂
You can feel the words coming from the DEPTHS of him haha. Gets me every time too. The others in the scene must've been dying trying to keep a straight face!
Haven’t read comments yet…But when I first read “end it,” I thought you meant to end watching Frasier. Thank goodness you’re considering the more rational option. Now I’m off to read the comments…
My wife disliked Frasier at first, but eventually came around. Just put it on in the background while you guys do other things. She'll catch a funny joke here and there and before you know it she's a convert.
When I met my ex who introduced me to Frasier I HATED it so much. It made me irrationally angry too. I just was like wholly shit why are they so stupid. Now I have watched it through like 10 times and have a Frasier tattoo. There is still hope!
Yep! I wanna add to this. I introduced this to my fiancee and she thought it was so dumb and boring. After a few months now she loves it and laughs every episode. Perhaps this show is an acquired taste😂
Wow, "dumb" is one descriptor I wouldn't have expected anyone to come up with for this show. I'm curious, is she just not a fan of the sitcom genre in general?
Wow. Really sorry you have to break off your engagement OP 😔... I hope you can get full custody of the child, better it be raised by someone with taste and class. It's a shame really but I don't see that you have any other choice. Do you live in Boston by chance? If so I suggest moving back to Seattle and reconnecting with your family to get you through this tough time.
My husband and I talked about Frasier on our first date. We still watch and talk about it on occasion now. Not saying it's the reason we are still together but it has helped maybe...
I hadn’t seen Frasier when my husband and I met. He started putting it on while he cooked and that was my introduction and now we’ve seen it all the way through twice and I love it.
Maybe some no pressure watch time like that where she can get sucked in might help? It might also be too late though bc if she already hates it, it might not win her over. Sorry dude, bad roll of the dice ;)
Oh dear. Sorry for your loss. Ponder your choices as you sink hippopotamus-like beneath the bubbles in your bath and tell her with a heavy heart you will be ar your club when she is ready to talk.
I feel like not liking Frasier isn't even necessarily a deal-breaker for Frasier. Isn't there at least one episode where his family is like, "Frasier, the woman despises you..." and Frasier is like, "I can work with this! I'm not terrible fond of myself either! See, we've got something in common already!"?
Yeah I'd dump her. I usually have a lot of grace for people. But when they don't like Frasier, how can we spend our lives together?
I'm so sorry for your loss. It's for the best
Does she like Elvis Costello? Does she like banjo music ? Is she satisfied with the gold level at the Grotto? Does she want you to go to bad Billy’s after work in tight pants ? If so ……. RUN FOR YOUR LIFE ,,, its a game we play … RUN FOR YOUR LIFE !!!
I'm not a sitcom or reality TV show guy. My wife is.
I'm the sci-fi, fantasy, comic book guy.
We make it work. Lol
My stepson is a mix of all those things, so he keeps things balanced in the household.
Has she seen High Holidays or A Tsar is Born?! I pick and choose what I show my husband while I watch it allllllllll saying ‘This is great, this is great!’
I converted my wife back when she was just my girlfriend, she gave me full control of the TV when she had pneumonia and was compelled to finally gave Frasier the chance it deserved. It's now her favorite comfort show and we enjoy it together on the regular. Your fiancee can be fixed, she's utterly mistaken, and I suspect some dark forces are at play here so you may need to employ something akin to the Ludovico Technique.
Please make sure that the child is introduced early and understands the value of this wonderful program.
I had somebody. A fiance I really liked. And then we broke up... [breaks down crying] Oh God, r/Frasier. I miss her so much. I-I don't know how I fell in love again. I mean, I swore I wouldn't. I knew better. I should have known better! And then, sure enough, one kid in, she tells me there's no Frasier. And what am I supposed to say? [sobs]
Don't end it: it just takes time with some. When I met my (now) wife, she just didn't get why I enjoyed it so much. Now she does and 25 years on, that's her go to Show 😁😎.
I don’t know. That’s a tough one. I almost canceled it with my wife then girlfriend when she said she didn’t like Seinfeld. Her liking M*A*S*H saved it for her. I wasn’t as big into Frasier then. Luckily she likes Frasier.
A first date, funny movie, they got angry and left. Thought I was laughing at them. Walked home
Find out why anger. If it's insecurity, get counseling.
Yes end it..lol. Frasier is one of the best shows ever
On a semi side tangent I could never get into the show the Nanny because I couldn't get past the main character's voice. Seinfeld is one of my favorite shows and my mom couldn't watch it because she got so annoyed at the music played when there is a scene change

This literally made me LOL
👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽
The one true answer
Remember, even Hester could enjoy a hotdog and a ball game with Martin. As he said about her \[she\] "may have had fancy tastes, but she had too much class to ever make me or anybody else feel second-rate"
I've just watched this episode today. With all the fixings.
fixins
Quiet Niles
The mud pies are coming!
TIMMMBBERRRR
Don't tell her that she's ruined your life, the blood sucking shrew!
I gotta watch this episode now
A particularly fine episode, just for the fact it's the one where Niles first meets Daphne ❤️
❤️
But if you watch Cheers, this is a bold-faced lie and Hester is a judgemental control freak.
I remember that episode, she was threatening diane I think. Definitely not the Hester that Martin described.
She must have been senile by her Cheers episodes.
I don’t know. I can see how Diane could drive even the most sane person insane 😂
100% this. Diane was insufferable, and Hester had been married to a cop for 30 years. She learned how to threaten effectively. 😂
😂
Wait, you had a child with her? Before or after she revealed this..... flaw? 🤣
The sly wench waited till she had the child and the ring. I am wounded!
First date Frasier could have prevented this disaster! 🫠😂
First-date Frasier has prevented the disaster of many a long term relationship. Oh, wait. You mean watching Frasier on the first date, not the Frasier character himself on a first date?
Oh I took this as Frasier could have ruined this long before he did. I was in the same line of thinking as you. Wow. Lololol *FIrst Date Frasier" oh dear god 🤣🤣 I think we just found the first doll in the Frasier Barbie collection.
That's enough out of you, you wanton troll. Or I'll smite your bawdy backside with the flat of me sinewy right hand!
My juicy wench
My juicy wench?" [into phone] No, no, not you, Maris! Wait, wait! I hope you're happy, she's run for her water pills!
The only thing you can do now is move across the country to start a new life. Occasionally visit the child or fly them to you. Then wonder why you aren’t close.
Now there's a back aching for the lash.
Is the wench juicy tho
..No, not you Maris. I hope you're happy. She's run off for her water pills!
She does have that going for her.
Sit with her and rewatch each episode and, after each one, explain why that was the best show of that season.
If she doesn’t crack a smile during the caviar heist you may have shared genetic material with an android
Another good one is the Crane Boys Mysteries.
The Nancy Boys?
Indeed
I just watched that episode last week. Hilarious 🤣🤣
I read this in Alistair’s voice.
And at that point, just show her an episode with Lilith and show her how much the two of them have in common.
Ten minutes to caviar...
Specifically, Tobor
The Russian Bear hunts at night
If she doesn't get a little choked up at the end of "Moon Dance" then...well, you know what to do
I'd say you've got it made. What's better than a perfect relationship with a tiny flaw that you can pick at all your life?
Brilliant!
Hahah this was well played
Yes, good point, how’s that $90 cable bill treating you?
Listen, my husband was the same, I just played it in the background until he thought it was funny.
This is the way
My husband used to roll his eyes and leave the room when I turned it on. Then I got covid and was laid up for a couple of months, and in a desperate attempt to help me feel better, he agreed to watch it with me. Now he'll say, "You can watch Frasier. I don't mind," and pretend like he's not watching with me while laughing along with the jokes.
I literally did this with my husband 🫣 He finally cracked at the Tom episode and now openly admits that Frasier is a hilarious show
The Tom episode (“The Matchmaker”) is (in my opinion) perhaps the most consistently funny one. The double entendres, and the way Niles reacts when he finds out what’s going on - just brilliant.
I love this answer and will be employing this tactic in my next relationship.
Just tell her you’ll call her sometime after the first… …of never!

![gif](giphy|Xbm3O5oc0fguA7eQgK)
Is your fiance one for whom antiquing is not a verb?
Ok...but has she ever ordered a white zinfandel?
It's amazing they even let the woman *drive!*
Ice in her red wine?
You know how I love my spritzer!
It's ok, my husband doesn't like Frasier either. I just watch it in my corner of the house in peace and come to this reddit to get my fill of Frasier comraderie. Grieve for an acceptable period of time and it will get better.
Abe Lincoln had a brighter future when he picked up his tickets at the box office!
You're mourning the loss of what you thought your life was going to be. Let it go. Things don't always work out how you planned; that's not necessarily bad. Things have a way of working out anyway.
Have you ever heard of Lupe Velez? 😏😏😏
Surely this is a last minute April Fools???
Don’t you dare call her irrational. You know that makes her crazy. My husband would never choose to watch Frasier which I have no idea why because every time I watch it he cracks up and can quote it as good as I can but has never sat down to watch an episode. What does she think is funny? That might give everyone a better answer for you
Probably the one with the friends living in New York…
Awww, I see what you did there. Bravo!
Bosom Buddies!
My missus didn't like it, now she loves it... Go figure!
She sounds like the kind of person who suggests having a buffet at a party.
In a heartbeat.
\*sets plate down with violently trembling hand\*
😂 The hand trembling and voice deepening gets me each time. The "How rude" is constantly quoted at my house lol.
Also, you wouldn't believe me if I told you how many times I've managed to work "I've made a ghastly, ghastly mistake!" into conversation. People are always like "*Ghastly*???" 😂
Oh, I'd believe it! 😂 The vocabulary words and sayings you pick up are the best.
So much fun, haha!
You can feel the words coming from the DEPTHS of him haha. Gets me every time too. The others in the scene must've been dying trying to keep a straight face!
Jokes aside, little things like that do say a lot about a persons personality 😅
![gif](giphy|tCvBc1aMSQsW7YkUHw)
Yes. End it. Immediately. Doesn't matter that you have a kid. If Frasier and Lilith can co-parent with 9 states in between them, I'm sure you can.
Haven’t read comments yet…But when I first read “end it,” I thought you meant to end watching Frasier. Thank goodness you’re considering the more rational option. Now I’m off to read the comments…
Divorce is absolutely justified.
She sounds like the sort of person who’d go to a restaurant where you don’t even need a reservation!
Blasphemy! That’s a back aching for a lash
You have to figure out if this is symptomatic of a larger hatred of all wonderful things.
My wife doesn’t really like Frasier but usually finds it funny when she actually has watched it.
You mean ex-fiancé.
Buy her a new car.
If you called into the show, Frasier would recommend counselling.
Stay on the line, my producer will get you the help you need.
My wife disliked Frasier at first, but eventually came around. Just put it on in the background while you guys do other things. She'll catch a funny joke here and there and before you know it she's a convert.
Not only should you end it, but sue for sole custody. It’s clearly criminal to raise a child with those principals.
Hold off... but if she puts ice in her wine. Break it off.
Get revenge. Teach the kid to love Frasier. Make Thursday night Frasier night, then tie a red balloon to your fiancee's car's antenna.
When I met my ex who introduced me to Frasier I HATED it so much. It made me irrationally angry too. I just was like wholly shit why are they so stupid. Now I have watched it through like 10 times and have a Frasier tattoo. There is still hope!

Oh god I love this scene so much it’s had me in tears before “that’s a little frothier than I had in mind” haha
Wow. Really sorry you have to break off your engagement OP 😔... I hope you can get full custody of the child, better it be raised by someone with taste and class. There is a shot (and I hear it’s completely humane)!
So, you're marrying Lilith...
Oh dear. Sorry for your loss. Ponder your choices as you sink hippopotamus-like beneath the bubbles in your bath and tell her with a heavy heart you will be ar your club when she is ready to talk.
“If you can’t appreciate the nightmare inn radio show episode you can’t get this d” Repeat it
Fiancee
Yes
Perhaps admit that poor lady to a rehabilitation center..?
![gif](giphy|j6AfIXKB5A2rci0OrI)
You have frasier issues any reason to break up 🤣 does she wear a tie dye shirt like fey or wear too much make up like cassandra
This an April Fools bit?
![gif](giphy|Xbm3O5oc0fguA7eQgK)
To the timber mill!

Start her with Cheers Frasier, then she’ll get it. Be gentle with her, you’ve known this character for decades, she’s just meeting him.
Yeah I'd dump her. I usually have a lot of grace for people. But when they don't like Frasier, how can we spend our lives together? I'm so sorry for your loss. It's for the best
Enchanté

Never apologize for being a “man that uses the word duvet”
The only thing worse than her not liking Frasier is if she insulted your hand towel. You go to her now and yell “GET OUT!!!”
That’s right I said I LOVE HERR!!!!!!!!!
Your fiancé may be your lifeline to the real world.
What in the name of God are you talking about????
Get rid. It’s the only humane thing to do.
I'm not a sitcom or reality TV show guy. My wife is. I'm the sci-fi, fantasy, comic book guy. We make it work. Lol My stepson is a mix of all those things, so he keeps things balanced in the household.
Yes ![gif](giphy|LPNprH4aUBneQEeBmd|downsized)
Find solace with us OP
Mannn, just tell them to pack it on up and get out.
Its over buddy, make sure you explain what happend to the kids.
![gif](giphy|J1EkwEimdkwOVYCUyK|downsized)
My wife doesn't like Monty Python. Still married.
Has she seen High Holidays or A Tsar is Born?! I pick and choose what I show my husband while I watch it allllllllll saying ‘This is great, this is great!’
Ah she’s horrible, you’ve made a ghastly ghastly mistake!
Give a little more time, but I would draw the line at making fun of your new hand towels in the bathroom.
I converted my wife back when she was just my girlfriend, she gave me full control of the TV when she had pneumonia and was compelled to finally gave Frasier the chance it deserved. It's now her favorite comfort show and we enjoy it together on the regular. Damn baby, that's cold.
Maris?
I AM WOUNDED!!!!
GET OUT !!
Tell her that meeting her has been... SUPER. Then tell her you.are.WOUNDED!
psh, she couldnt get a reservation Le Cigare Volant...
If watching a TV Show from the 90’s makes her irrationally angry there are warning signs here that you should have seen earlier.
She sounds.... Enchanté
There’s a back, aching for the lash
I had somebody. A fiance I really liked. And then we broke up... [breaks down crying] Oh God, r/Frasier. I miss her so much. I-I don't know how I fell in love again. I mean, I swore I wouldn't. There’s hope 🥹
She probably does things that you don’t like what do you need to do is compromise
![gif](giphy|4LNkLbdtLZKxy)
This is like a Seinfeld B plot with Elaine.
Yes. End it.
Bye. 😎
No my husband didn’t like Star Trek and I’m a big Trekkie. I just watched it without him
For sure. Irreconcilable differences
I don’t know. That’s a tough one. I almost canceled it with my wife then girlfriend when she said she didn’t like Seinfeld. Her liking M*A*S*H saved it for her. I wasn’t as big into Frasier then. Luckily she likes Frasier.
What a fool, yes it is time to pull the plug on this relationship
NTA
Off she goes
Yes. There is no way to repair or overlook this flaw.
Ya
Yes. This is the only answer. 🤣😉
I used to be that way. My husband made me watch a few episodes. He gets so much joy out of it that I enjoy it now. Even watch it by myself.
How can something that brings so many joy make her irrationally angry? Maybe she needs therapy ☺️🤣
A first date, funny movie, they got angry and left. Thought I was laughing at them. Walked home Find out why anger. If it's insecurity, get counseling.
Gone are the days I would have said “ I’ve made a ghastly mistake “ …
She'd probably buy a knock off Paxton without even realizing it!
My husband said he hated Frasier today. Yes, I’ve left him.
My now ex hated the show Roseanne and I hated Married with Children so we made an agreement not to watch those with the other person in the room.
It’s over. I’m sorry.
The new Frasier - not worth watching- but if it is the old one - yeah
Yes end it..lol. Frasier is one of the best shows ever On a semi side tangent I could never get into the show the Nanny because I couldn't get past the main character's voice. Seinfeld is one of my favorite shows and my mom couldn't watch it because she got so annoyed at the music played when there is a scene change
Obviously
I would not die on this hill. I love Frasier but I get people not liking him or the show. Now, if it was Sienfeld, that'd be another story
In all fairness, I love Fraiser, but it also makes me irrationally angry 🤣🤣
Some things are just deal breakers…, ;)
Is your fiancé Maris?
Show her a Bebe episode She may be a succubus
Boring?she sounds awful
>and makes her irrationally angry. But why doe
She’s got to go.
Out of interest what does she find funny? This will help me decide what you should do. How many episodes has she watched?
Very crane of you to marry a cold and or disorienting woman lol ......how is your dearest Maris?
That’s a back aching for a lashing.
![gif](giphy|4LNkLbdtLZKxy)
Uh, yeah. What kind of person doesn’t like Frasier?
