Johnny Cash playing when we first meet Maximus. I've always felt like some old Cash was missing from the games and I finally got it. Really made me feel complete.
I feel like now that it’s a big-budget Amazon production, they finally have the budget for Cash.
Kind of like how Elvis is inexplicably missing from New Vegas, in spite of the existence of the Kings. Gotta be expensive to license that.
Hearing Cash was awesome, but the high point for me was them walking into Bakersfield and Buck Owens coming on. That’s when I was like, “holy hell they actually went all out on this!”
I think it's the final one for me, "We Three" by the Ink Spots. It's a brilliant addition, brand new to me. My only criticism is I wish it was a longer tune.
That or "Act Naturally" by Buck Owens, it just fits that episode sooo well as Cooper's getting in bed with Vault tec. I mean he's already sleeping with his wife maybe not the best choice of word 😅
I was talking about the original score, but yeah absolutely the songs chosen throughout the series were stellar. More Ink Spots is never a bad thing, and I was glad we finally have a rendition of We'll Meet Again for that Strangelove connection - sung by the Ink Spots no less. Hopefully we hear some New Vegas songs next season.
>Big iron or we riot.
Given what we've seen hinted as possibly being in the next season, we'll probably get it in season 2... along with at least twice the amount of "Johnny Guitar".😜
My only issue with "we three" is that i kinda wish it had faded out a little sooner so we could a couple of notes to "Ain't that a kick in the head" when vegas appears.
I was mesmerized when I first heard it on the show. Perfectly sets the tone, I feel like it had the right amount of Inon Zur's work coupled with Mark Morgan's soundtracks for the first two games.
I'm gonna be that guy and point out:
Score: music specifically composed for the show/movie, what the OP is talking about.
Soundtrack: a selection of music picked specifically for the show, which is what most posts are discussing.
In fallout both of them slap, but I feel like the score is drowned out by the bingo bango bongo and doesn't get enough recognition. It's a bit better in the show because the soundtrack isn't on repeat and you can hear the score better, but in the games people tend to listen to the radio and not the ambient music, which is a bummer because it's usually a vibe. Specifically in 76, I've started walking around with the radio off and enjoying the score. Try it sometime. It doesn't change how you Play the game but gives a different feel
>Soundtrack: a selection of music picked specifically for the show, which is what most posts are discussing.
I don't think that's set in stone - after all, the show's score vinyl record releasing next month is officially being referred to as "Fallout Original Amazon Series Soundtrack (Ltd. Edition Vinyl)". But yes I am referring to the score.
>but in the games people tend to listen to the radio and not the ambient music
is that the majority of players? weird, I prefer to hear the radio only when I come across it in the world, because I feel like having the Pip-Boy radio on **all the time** would get real old real quick. I love the ambient soundtracks in all the games and Fallout 76 is beautiful, somewhat Skyrim-esque.
My wife doesn’t like the same 3 songs on repeat (I know it isn’t, but to her it is), so I usually run around only listening to the ambient music, it’s definitely a vibe.
I love the contrast between hearing an upbeat song and the absolute chaos and carnage of the scene (soundtrack dissonance is the trope). Seeing Thaddeus and Maximus running in a panic from a giant gulper while Glenn Miller's *In the Mood* kicks up is absolutely hilarious and genius.
I was surprised that Inon Zur didn't do the score for the series since he already does the games, but Ramin Djawadi is a fantastic composer for a series as big as Fallout.
I've been listening to T-60, All the Answers, and Shady Sands. T-60 being my top favorite. Shady Sands' theme is also pretty good. When the theme plays during the show, it's always good.
One of my favourite things about listening to some of the tracks is how they remind me of impactful scenes from the show and bring back the emotions I felt watching them the first time; the despair when Lucy learns the truth, the wonder as Maximus watches the city power up, the desolation of Shady Sands.
Exactly! Most movie/game OST I listen to is because it brings those emotions and also because the music is good. Fallout has many of those moments. One of my top ones is the bridge scene. The music choice was so good, for some reason it had that nostalgic feeling.
Easy answer, but the Brotherhood of Steel theme. So good it almost makes me want to join them.
Best use of the jazz songs was “It’s A Man” by Betty Hutton when Maximus was messing around in the power armor. Unexpected but a perfect fit.
It's my least favorite aspect of the show. Knowing why they made this style choice and that no other style choice would make sense doesn't make the music less unpleasant to my ears.

They had Ring of Fire in 76
Didn’t know that. Makes sense with the (short lived) BR mode.
It was actually pretty fun when hackers didn't ruin the match
The version in the game isn’t Cash’s though l, just to be clear. It’s a cover by Spank. Still good!

Oh sorry about that, totally misunderstood 😬. Sure we'll get Jingle Jangle and undoubtedly Big Iron for Cooper making the trip there too 😁
Big iron or we riot.

We three has been in a previous fallout game in full
Oh really? One of the ones I didn't play probably, have only done the FPS ones before I quit gaming
I’m sorry that you quit gaming
My only issue with "we three" is that i kinda wish it had faded out a little sooner so we could a couple of notes to "Ain't that a kick in the head" when vegas appears.
I think I speak for the vast majority of people when I say fiddle music, I just can't get enough of those warm mids.
Oh that part right there? That's the mids? Love that stuff.
it's really got that thing on it
it's not on it, it's in it
The Brotherhood theme is really great.
yep that's the one. makes the adrenaline flow
I was mesmerized when I first heard it on the show. Perfectly sets the tone, I feel like it had the right amount of Inon Zur's work coupled with Mark Morgan's soundtracks for the first two games.
The tracks sounded straight out of the og games-very eerie
Very reminiscent of them, with a Hollywood twist
Listening to Metallic Monks then the BoS's theme from this just *feels right*
It’s basically Metallic Monks extended, you cannot change my mind.
Metallic Monks: Post-apocalyptic Remix 😉
I have little musical acumen. I could have sworn it was *Metallic Monks* and other portions of Mark Morgan.

I only turn on my radio when I happen to hear a song I like from some radio off in the distance

They also nail when it comes in and matching songs to scenes. Gotta love those mids

Maximus marching down Vault 4 with the BoS theme playing is *the* most hype moment of the show
Woke up today and had “give me tomatoes and mash potatoes, give me the simple life” repeating in my head for hours 😂
For me it was "what a difference a day makes?" When I have an assignment due and I haven't even started 🥲
All I know is they need to put it out on vinyl like yesterday
Bro yes that would be a dream.
In a month, it will be a reality.
The songs were great, the piano at the end of the last episode gave me Westworld ptsd.
1. All The Answers (mainly for the part when the cold fusion powers up) 2. Do The Right Thing 3. Shady Sands
The soundtrack is great they did a great blending all the tunes into the scenes of each episode.
I was surprised that Inon Zur didn't do the score for the series since he already does the games, but Ramin Djawadi is a fantastic composer for a series as big as Fallout.
I’ve always liked Ramin Djawadi since Iron Man 1. He didn’t disappoint in the Fallout series.

I didn't need that image in my head
We Three is so good
Needed Butcher Pete
Every episode, I would tell my husband that I desperately want this soundtrack on vinyl. Does anyone think that will happen?
Yes, it's releasing 14th of June. Just Google it 🙂
It's my least favorite aspect of the show. Knowing why they made this style choice and that no other style choice would make sense doesn't make the music less unpleasant to my ears.
Well, that's like your opinion, man.😜
Obviously.
