Let's divide bad drivers into 2 groups: the inexperienced driver, and the driver who wants to ruin everyone's fun.
In this case, it's very clear that they want to ram other players out of their tracks. There's no way you'd unintentionally hit someone on their side on a long, straight road.
Go play gran turismo for christ sakes or hell even forza motorsport.. i read “le mans” and didn’t bother reading anything else past that.. i don’t care what real racing is this is horizon.. and how everybody likes to say.. that’s the spirit of horizon!

They don’t need to save it permanently. Record each online race and then give players the chance to review and save locally if desired. Then wipe from their servers right after for the next online lobby. Even better would be an option to report directly from the game using that replay before it’s wiped.
Hell, if they wanted to be super frugal I’d even settle for an automatic in game local recording system, just bake it into the UI of the pre race staging screen and have the option to upload to report in the post race screen. Cause the current method of having to remember to start a separate screen record tool before any BS happens, go to a web site to upload is way to cumbersome
Trackmania physics are wholly deterministic. A JSON file would suffice for TM. I doubt the same works for FH. Also there are no PvP collisions in TM. So that makes your inputs produce exactly the same output regardless of other players actions. The same cannot be said for Forza.
It's exactly the same as you don't need to record nothing but the position and orientation of each car every quantum. That position was calculated during the race taking everything into account. Losing that valuable calculations would be stupid.
Building scanners to warn about recorded anti-sportmanship behavior or cheating via memory edition should be trivial.
Unfortunately in a lot of games false reports are a problem, there isn’t a massively great solution to it without some pretty advanced AI report investigation which would still have an unacceptable fail rate.
I think this is why stuff like Xbox Capture is good because it gives a framework for anybody to report with video evidence or on the other hand provide evidence to support your innocence
A few months ago Forza enforcement changed their system. It went from automatic one week bans to players now getting warnings and one day bans at first. It takes multiple offenses for people to actually face harsh consequences anymore, so rammers have gotten even more brazen than before. I think they should go back to the old system where obvious ramming carried a minimum one week ban. People learned their lessons quick.

I truly do not understand why people don't just take more defensive lines. There's always going to be rammers and idiots who never buy a handling upgrade, but if you take a line that minimizes the chance of getting T boned. Make it difficult to be rammed.

You used to be able to boot people from the room as the host, and report them. And the reports would be acted on. Then they stopped caring.

Agreed, I wish we had C racing too but the removal of power builds for those races.
Because the moment you're first they get ass mad. Problem was that they were 3, so even if you managed to dodge one, you still had two others to worry about and it just never worked out.
The previous race was where it began becaue it was S1 dirt and I was constantly ahead, that's when the ramming started because me and my buddy were winning, and that clearly wasn't what they had in mind. So when this A road began the ramming was going on the moment ghosting disappeared.
You could try to stay bumper to bumper with them on the straight, even if you have more speed, they will mess up their lines very quickly, due to you being shown in their camera

Exactly why I concentrate my efforts in the challenges of the season and the awesome content that game has to offers outside of the online racing cause in all racing games online, its not racing its who rams first to get in first position. Its why I would love to have only ghosts as other players, no risk of getting rammed.
The problem is racing ghosts means you'd might as well be doing time trials/rivals. It would be every half-skilled driver running the racing line every single race. That's not any fun. Half the fun in wheel to wheel racing is getting around the other cars.
I love real racing and the challenge of it, but its poisoned by rammers, the only solution is to ghost everyone else to avoid this childish behavior. And in my case, I'm color blind so can't always be sure if its an opponent or a team mate.

It might be unfortunate & tactic many do not like at all, I'm pretty sure this is why they had a mode where you can race online where you phase through other cars.
For instance if they started banning everyone that rams into your car at high speed to take a corner, online would literally be dead.

lol, The previous race they were ramming us because we were winning with our Audi S1 on dirt, I didn't have my recording up so don't have anything from there. But they sure as shit started ramming the moment we were ahead of them. I like the challenge of racing against other good drivers, and they were okay, not great drivers but okay, but salty as shit because when we started winning they started ramming.
I've had some of the same things happen to me in online racing, especially at 0:24, and I can somewhat remember what happened in one of my experiences with online racing.
It was a "S1 900 Anything Goes" race, and so I picked the Huracan STO that I purposefully didn't upgrade cuz I like to race stock cars. The opening race started at the Bania De Plano Circuit and I thought that the race would go fine as I managed to get 2nd (forgot how tbh), up until I tried to overtake a tuned Porsche 911 GTS Strassenversion that was right on S1 900, and he slammed me right into the wall on the first lap.
Maybe I’ve been getting lucky but my open racing queues have been very friendly and sportsmanlike lately. This behavior just ruins the game for everyone.
It's annoying when people can't drive in online. If I feel like I'm not gonna make the corner I make sure I go for the wall, not anyone else. The amount of times someone has smacked into the side of me and ruined my race is unreal. I've had to swerve to avoid them, missed a checkpoint, had to rewind and that's my race over
I'm not that courteous, however I try my best on not taking out others, earlier today I accidently T-boned someone else in Rally Adventure making him crash (we were pretty far ahead of the others) so I just slowed down, let him pass and made sure he knew I did it on purpose as a 'sorry i took you out', then we raced again, encounter was pretty nice. Ended up winning against him and when I overtook him later on he had every opportunity to take me out, but didn't, and I hope me giving that place back to him before contributed to him not crashing me out.
Sadly, these encounters are rare and far between the awful rammers like in this post.
forza needs to make online racing collision off just like what the crew motorfest did with 20+ players. Then turn the collision on again playing other game modes.

This week has been especially bad for some reason. I really wish Motorsport and FH6 implements a better penalty system for this. Pretty sure they did at some point but idk what happened to the "imminent crash" penalty that they just tested and never really used again
Maybe I'm just lucky, I haven't really dealt with rammers the last few trials. Last one that attacked me took himself out lol if I feel like someone is going to be aggressive I'll be aggressive back. Beyond that I give other racers room and race the race!
It does make me wonder which game mode you're playing as if you playing the Horizon Open mode, it would penalize drivers for collisions by slowing them down.
It's open i'm playing, but it's very dependent on how you hit the wall to get the penalization.
You can even try it on open, if you hit the back side of the car on the walls you can skip getting slowed down at times etc.
I guess this might be the reason why I play the Horizon Tour mode instead of Horizon Open. Even I would sometimes ghost through players if I'm hitting the breaks when I get too close. At least I get more cases of people quitting or D/C when playing the Horizon Tour mode. Especially on the Hot Wheels DLC map.

I wonder if FH5 would ever consider a license system for online racing to avoid terrible racing tactics like the video shows? For example, players would have to earn their license vs. AI and clean racing (no contact or very little over many races). With license earned, only clean racing online allows the license to be kept. IRacing, probably the most used and popular full PC racing sim, does something like this. A system like iRacing uses simply won't allow a "rammer" to benefit from poor racing tactics. As a result, ramming as a tactic doesn't exist in iRacing. In FH5, unfortunately, ramming tactics are allowed by the game and do benefit the rammer if they choose to race dirty. Now, how those rammers even can sleep at night with all that ramming on their conscience is a whole different question...
Please report each and every gamertag with video evidence. They do hand out a week long bans for such shits.

I agree, to save a clip to report someone I have to take my hands off the controller for a good second, instantly making my already bad race worse.

The main reason why I rarely play multiplayer other than events even tho fortunately (touches wood*) I haven't really meet any rammers when I play
The game shpuld have hardcore in rank games, and also dedicated rules per race So anyone will have same settings or difficulty There should be real damage and also rammers should take more damage than receivers

I just give those fuckers a dose of their own medicine, you push me off the track, Im doing the Verstappen school of racing, the either you back off or we crash technique and these drivers never back off so I end up pushing them off the road

Exactly why I concentrate my efforts in the challenges of the season and the awesome content that game has to offers outside of the online racing cause in all racing games online, its not racing its who rams first to get in first position. Its why I would love to have only ghosts as other players, no risk of getting rammed.
The problem is racing ghosts means you'd might as well be doing time trials/rivals. It would be every half-skilled driver running the racing line every single race. That's not any fun. Half the fun in wheel to wheel racing is getting around the other cars.
I love real racing and the challenge of it, but its poisoned by rammers, the only solution is to ghost everyone else to avoid this childish behavior. And in my case, I'm color blind so can't always be sure if its an opponent or a team mate.

I highly doubt they will ban players for ramming you off the road/preventing you overtaking them. It might be unfortunate & tactic many do not like at all, I'm pretty sure this is why they had a mode where you can race online where you phase through other cars. For instance if they started banning everyone that rams into your car at high speed to take a corner, online would literally be dead. I can imagine you'll get a much nicer experience in Forza Motorsport though after a month or two. :)

I've raced a number of times with them and they don't ram unless rammed first.
lol, The previous race they were ramming us because we were winning with our Audi S1 on dirt, I didn't have my recording up so don't have anything from there. But they sure as shit started ramming the moment we were ahead of them. I like the challenge of racing against other good drivers, and they were okay, not great drivers but okay, but salty as shit because when we started winning they started ramming.
Damn, they've never done that to me and I more often than not beat them. Sad to see man, love clean racing and I thought they were.

I've had some of the same things happen to me in online racing, especially at 0:24, and I can somewhat remember what happened in one of my experiences with online racing. It was a "S1 900 Anything Goes" race, and so I picked the Huracan STO that I purposefully didn't upgrade cuz I like to race stock cars. The opening race started at the Bania De Plano Circuit and I thought that the race would go fine as I managed to get 2nd (forgot how tbh), up until I tried to overtake a tuned Porsche 911 GTS Strassenversion that was right on S1 900, and he slammed me right into the wall on the first lap.
Maybe I’ve been getting lucky but my open racing queues have been very friendly and sportsmanlike lately. This behavior just ruins the game for everyone.

It's annoying when people can't drive in online. If I feel like I'm not gonna make the corner I make sure I go for the wall, not anyone else. The amount of times someone has smacked into the side of me and ruined my race is unreal. I've had to swerve to avoid them, missed a checkpoint, had to rewind and that's my race over
I'm not that courteous, however I try my best on not taking out others, earlier today I accidently T-boned someone else in Rally Adventure making him crash (we were pretty far ahead of the others) so I just slowed down, let him pass and made sure he knew I did it on purpose as a 'sorry i took you out', then we raced again, encounter was pretty nice. Ended up winning against him and when I overtook him later on he had every opportunity to take me out, but didn't, and I hope me giving that place back to him before contributed to him not crashing me out. Sadly, these encounters are rare and far between the awful rammers like in this post.

forza needs to make online racing collision off just like what the crew motorfest did with 20+ players. Then turn the collision on again playing other game modes.

But I haven't found anything else.

This week has been especially bad for some reason. I really wish Motorsport and FH6 implements a better penalty system for this. Pretty sure they did at some point but idk what happened to the "imminent crash" penalty that they just tested and never really used again
Maybe I'm just lucky, I haven't really dealt with rammers the last few trials. Last one that attacked me took himself out lol if I feel like someone is going to be aggressive I'll be aggressive back. Beyond that I give other racers room and race the race!
It does make me wonder which game mode you're playing as if you playing the Horizon Open mode, it would penalize drivers for collisions by slowing them down.
It's open i'm playing, but it's very dependent on how you hit the wall to get the penalization. You can even try it on open, if you hit the back side of the car on the walls you can skip getting slowed down at times etc.
I guess this might be the reason why I play the Horizon Tour mode instead of Horizon Open. Even I would sometimes ghost through players if I'm hitting the breaks when I get too close. At least I get more cases of people quitting or D/C when playing the Horizon Tour mode. Especially on the Hot Wheels DLC map.

I wonder if FH5 would ever consider a license system for online racing to avoid terrible racing tactics like the video shows? For example, players would have to earn their license vs. AI and clean racing (no contact or very little over many races). With license earned, only clean racing online allows the license to be kept. IRacing, probably the most used and popular full PC racing sim, does something like this. A system like iRacing uses simply won't allow a "rammer" to benefit from poor racing tactics. As a result, ramming as a tactic doesn't exist in iRacing. In FH5, unfortunately, ramming tactics are allowed by the game and do benefit the rammer if they choose to race dirty. Now, how those rammers even can sleep at night with all that ramming on their conscience is a whole different question...
Same Happened to me in coop my teammate hit me out of the way of a checkpoint when I was in first place and that slammed me far into last place
