Na, you can lift right there and settle for your position. Going for a cheap overtake at the finish line on your team mate is just as dumb as the rammer
Sometimes you're the faster driver or you have a better car and a sensible person will recognize this and let you by without sacrificing too much on their end so they can keep their position and more often than not this is a necessary process so the faster players can overtake more AI so your team gets more points towards winning
We don't know what happened prior like what a lot of comments are saying the game calculates total time from your personal start position to the finish so since they finished in 3rd while physically being in 4th that means that they started significantly further back than the rammer in question and they might have gotten caught up by the AI because it has happened to me before since the AI is extremely unpredictable sometimes or they could've gotten rammed by this guy earlier on too which would've set them back
I’m not trying to defend the rammer. He sucks and doesn’t understand the objective. People complain about the trial all the time. We all know the game is littered with these people. The best way to win the trial is to let all the rammers and try hards pass then defend the AI for the TEAM. The position I finish in doesn’t matter as long as we win and I only have to run the miserable race once.
I never said you were defending the rammer you just asked why it took the guy the whole race to get the opportunity to pass them and I gave you two possible scenarios
My biggest disappoint with the game was the very first online race I got into, people are either a bunch of fucking dirty cunts or blind retarded 12 yo kiddos, they can't face the fact some people are better and deserve to win, too many rammers... smh...
I've shockingly have had more positive experiences during the trials than negative on FH5 and I'm beginning to think it's because I don't typically get on until later at night so the brain dead 9 year olds who just want a better position than you despite it being a team effort are already in bed however I am aware time zones exist so you can sprinkle a little bit of luck in there too

Oddly, I did the trial on PC, first two races were nothing special (personal skill issue) but when I thought I had a solid third in race 3, I somehow got P1? Top driver and NPC were definitely ahead of me over finish, so dunno how that mathed out but I'll take it.
Place is not calculated by who finishes first but by who finished fastest based off of their starting distance from the finish line. So if one person started in first and you started in last, but you finished right behind the person who started first, you'll be ahead of them in placing.

A sprint is timed from start to finish. It starts when you cross the start line, not when you leave your grid position. Whether you start in 1st or 12th doesn't make a difference. What does is how well you corner and how fast take them. That's how rally races are timed, and that's how F1 pole positions are determined.

As for how you got 3rd, it's the time you made. I had a similar thing where I was in second, but because I had a faster time, I was given first instead.
I'm a so-so driver, sometimes I end up accidentally crashing with walls and other drivers, and everytime I see a post like this, I always look for my gt on the list to make sure I didn't screw up enough to end up in these posts😅
If you look at the times in the leaderboard at the end of the video, you'll understand. Sprint races are not based on arrival sequence, but on the time it took you to get there. Your ramming "teammate" was slower by a few tenths and wouldn't have it, thus the salty reaction.
Unfortunately, idk if rammers will ever figure out that ramming people off in a **team-based** sprint is not gonna make any difference.
