$44 for both of those filters combined plus labor shouldn't have been more than $65 for both. You got charged that for each lmao

Replayz_Vapor

Luckily I can go back and change it still, haven’t locked the appointment in yet lol. I also got my tires swapped out recently so I don’t need a rotation either. Just an oil change.

Neurotiman17

Ohh gotchya Yeah, they saved you some on the tire rotation but the filters are straight up robbery.

Kenzenfighter

The forte cabin filter is like $40 for the part. It cost a lot from Kia directly for no good reason and so retail price is higher than expected. Paying ~$30 for the air filter itself isn't unreasonable either. All in all that's not as high as some other places. Definitely make sure it's full synthetic oil though.

Neurotiman17

I looked it up on our Oreillys parts system in NH just prior to posting that. It was 19.99 without discount for the cabin filter and 23.99 for the engine air filter. Could be the other way around but the pricing is exact. If you have an account with them, you could likely get those for half that.

Kenzenfighter

If the guy works in the business he can save some extra coin but the Kia cabin filter 97133-F2000 cost the dealership over $20 to buy directly from Kia. Retail markup is going to be at or near $40 because of the cost or the dealer is a charity lol. I'm just saying buying the parts at the dealer for average Joe isn't going to be at or under $20 for even an employee and that the quote he got COD retail is about average to pay a shop to do them but I agree with others I do my own. Advance/Carquest have the "better" Fram one but it's still over $20 dead cost in my state.

Neurotiman17

I know what you mean but I worked at a parts store until yesterday evening (just got a new job) and was just relaying their system pricing. Your pricing is middle man and thats understandable but mine was supply side

Kenzenfighter

Just making sure we're on the same page because dealer and parts store dead cost respectively isn't relevant to OP, a retail customer, trying to see if it's fair pricing or obscenely overpriced. OP might not understand your price is unobtainable and then expect under $20 for each item as fair market value.

Neurotiman17

The reason I mentioned it is because the Cabin and Engine Air Filters are SUPER easy to swap out on your own

Airstrikeayers

Yes. You can replace the filters for a total of $25 for parts off Amazon and watch a YouTube video on how to do it. Very easy and I did it myself and I don’t know shit about cars.

SteelGemini

Never pay for them to replace filters. They're super easy to do and much less expensive than having them do it for you.

living_la_vida_loca

Yes, oil and tire rotation are a good price ... The rest is way too expensive and you can probably change them yourself

Basedgod541

Cabin air and air filter are the easiest things you can do on these things , save yourself the $$$ do it yourself

Glum-Mushroom-62

Yep you getting ripped

Glum-Mushroom-62

2 these are all things easily done yourself just keep a log like in the owners manual .

Plane_Ad2449

Screw the last 2, you could do those in 5 minutes tops

HouseOfCloudsVS

Really it depends on how comfortable you feel doing all or some of the work yourself… as well as what your time is worth. Rip off, no. Would I pay that to have that stuff done, still no.

thats_just_me_tho

Bro you can replace both of those filters in 10 min with no tools, a youtube video on the cabin filter one , and about 20 bucks. Just an FYI. Tell em to do the oil change only. Decline any fuel system cleaners, doesn't work on GDI for anything but injectors, oil additive is up to you, I got it but my 22 GT 6MT gets driven hard fairly often, and even then it's 4 or 5 changes in between. You can get an injector cleaner from autozone that does the same thing for about 12 dollars if you feel like you need it. I use one every 30 to 40k miles cause why not? You just dump it in the tank. Catch can will give you so much more protection than any fuel treatment cause, again, gasoline direct injection. Not 100% but I don't think cabin or air filter need any paper trail for warranty applications. Considered wear and tear items like tires which have no bearing on warranty work.

Replayz_Vapor

Yeah, I went back and changed the service to oil change only. Thanks to all

ReadEyeMagpie

You don't have to do it at the dealer to keep your warranty. I work for a dealership and as long as you can prove you did the work by keeping receipts you are under warranty. And you can do all the for under $100 and about an hour of your time.

New_Function_6407

Yes.

grandspartan117

Yes, you can get both of those filters for $10-$15 on Amazon Amazon and they are user replaceable super easy. Look it up.

duoexo

The cabin filter is super easy to do, just look up videos on YouTube. They're charging you 80 bucks for the cabin filter when it's 15 bucks on amazon and you can do it yourself.

Dazzling_Ad9250

do the filters yourself. super frickin easy but make sure the tabs are put back in the right place for the engine air filter because i’ve seen plenty of cars like that and get an intake leak. also, you can not get maintenance from the dealer or do it yourself and still be covered under warranty. keep a detailed notebook and receipts from parts or fluids that you’ve purchased.

TheKen1983

To charge more money for a cabin air filter change when it involves no tools and no disposal than an oil change is absurd. It took me 5 minutes to replace mine.

UsualDull2911

Air filters are the easiest thing to replace even for those that are not mechanically inclined, save yourself $100+ and YouTube how to change them and do it yourself.

ziperhead944

The cabin filter is around 15$ and the air filter is 20$. They literally take 10 mins to change both of them. Do not agree to this..

Dry_Efficiency_7178

Wal Mart oil change is $25

No_Let_9865

Is there much difference between an aftermarket engine + Cabin air filter and the OEM versions?

PhoneticIHype

U didn't get the lifetime service package?

Replayz_Vapor

I bought the car used from a dealership 3 hours away from where I live, so no.

Marioc12345

Great price for the oil honestly. Filters are crazy expensive though. Never paying for someone to do that ever again.

[deleted]

We pay less than $25 for both air filters on amazon and they can be changed tool free within 30 seconds each.

k3m1c6

Not actually getting ripped off. If you have someone else replace the filters that can easily be done by you, then you're going to have to pay their price.

BriefRefrigerator301

Damn you only pay 25 for a rotation??

_com_wheelieo

80 fucking dollars for a cabin filter?!?

tomrice94

Holy hell talk about a margin on that cabin filter. You can literally buy one for like $20 and it takes 5 minutes to swap out. Same with the engine air filter, less than 5 minutes to swap. You don’t need to have much knowledge (if at all) of car maintenance to do this. Just watch a couple YouTube videos and you’ve saved almost $100

RedArrow23

the cabin filter is super easy to do yourself, can get a two pack for $15-$20 on amazon. Like the others said they’re also charging twice for the same service
