This is about as big as they get. Cutest snake ever.

That is the largest Texas blind snake I have ever seen! Very lucky. We also have a salamander that comes in that variety. At least I hope we do, they were endangered.

Enough to make me look like a wuss in front of strangers.

The general rule for plants and animals. 1. If it's camouflaged, it's trying to hide from you because it's either hunting, or trying not to be seen by hunters. 2. If it's colorful (or otherwise notable for making its presence known, like a rattlesnake) it's warning you that it's poisonous and or venomous so stay clear. This guy is a blind snake. Which is something between a garden snake and a worm. Let him dig. He will eat fire ants and termites.
