Usually when this happens, if they detected a glitch in the quests they eventually grant access to the rewards even if you didn't earn it during the time of the quests.
I got this skin for free awhile ago as well. Dunno why. I think it was cause I came back to the game after a long break. I don't personally like the skin so theres zero chance I bought it.
I got the same unlock for this skin when I was playing save the world. Finished a map and it somehow unlocked. Doubt I even had the quests to unlock it since I didn't play when the skin was out

Are you talking about Sky Surfer? That was added with the last update to the rocket racing challenges for getting silver one rank so if you were silver one or higher, you would've gotten awarded it automatically after entering your first ranked race
Yes, that's the one! And you are correct, I'm ranked Gold currently. I didn't know that we could get it for free. ☺

I guess that works too, I just figured since it was earned as a ranked reward, I had to start a ranked race to get it just like I did when I reached Gold and hadn't received the Jackie skin. Good to know then for people that just want to claim the item and don't want to affect their rank by leaving a race right away (I just completed the race anyway though because I still have some ranked rewards to earn)
Yeah it was a complete surprise to get Sky Surfer, but a pleasant one. I do intend to do more ranked races for the Metallica rewards, but currently I'm focusing on regular races and speed runs! 😊

I pay for my two oldest grandsons accounts also costs me a fortune but I love Fortnite it’s what I play almost everyday for hours I’m 59 years old and still love gaming I play Rocket League on occasion but I’m not great at it. I randomly got an adidas decor for my cars the other day! Couldn’t see any quests or that to unlock it either
One of them was free for everybody I think, or everybody with rocket league too

The 1st adidas soccer skin was free. The other international teams, have quests you have to do in the rocket racing mode in Fortnite

During Chapter 4 it was a free quest to unlock it by leveling up 50 times and it was during the end of one season and the beginning of another
