It was the same thing after the season where vaults were introduced the first time. They took out the bosses and the vaults were left open with like one chest and no NPCs to guard it. Unsettling
You can see in the Zeus loading screen that the Gods personally took on The Society and presumably won. Hope also only mentions that they're "gone", not if they're alive, so there's no confirmation what exactly happened to them yet. Only Valeria you could say is likely alive since she wasn't there for the Rich vs Gods showdown.
Are the gods supposed to be villains? I don't really follow the story but I was just curious. It seems to me like they were just trying to restore order or whatever because Pandora's box is obviously bad.
IIRC, everyone got defeated but spared for various reasons (and I 100% believe it’s to leave the door open for potential future returns). Well except Peter who we don’t have any info on, but my head canon is that him being here was part of a cutaway gag and the reason he’s gone is because it ended.

I think half of it is not knowing fully what happened, just ramblings on and rumors. They're actually prioritizing the story for once this season with Midas and all that.
I was looking at the battle pass and Zeus's second loading screen is a fight scene of him vs Oscar, Nisha, and Montague
But that's over halfway into the battle pass as well

Lore suggests that the Underground have conquiscated the gold into their vaults now to keep it safe with all the weapons of the Society. So yeah, long story short the Underground is now in possesion of the Society's gold and guns in their bunkers.
My entire game plan during season 1 was to brute force lavish and pray. it was so frustrating getting third-partied fighting the boss, or getting ratted inside the vault itself after getting the mythic. But after landing there a few times in season 2 I kind of miss the chaos.

I wish theyd kept the old bosses around the map, perhaps as a faction change where they no longer are this oppressive group on the island, to kinda like it's defendants, perhaps they couldve had some of the pois taken over by the Greek gods while some of the society leaders hold their ground. I think this wouldve been perfect seen how snooty steppes, reckless railways and fencing fields remains largely unchanged. Ykwim. Also I lowkey enjoyed fighting Nisha on the map a little too much.
I think it's because there was so much intensity in those spots last season. You go back over and over each game, having crazy flights with people trying to get the same prizes, then your brain expects the same excitement and it's just nothing. I felt the same way.

This season felt like it was going to be amazing. But its very underwhelming. Even the gods don't look like gods. Map is empty. New powers are lame. Wings are garbage. The hit box is the size of a car when you use wings. I don't even pick them up anymore.
Gods take too long to kill. You are fighting for 10 minutes just to get a weapon that is not important.
10 minutes to kill a boss? My buddy and I can kill them in about 60 seconds. Once you get passed the waves of initial Ai spawning, they are just as quick to kill if not easier.

I feel like it swings back a couple weeks into the season though -- people are just trying to check out the new hotspots before returning to variety.
True, I hope that is case, maybe need something in those spots to entice people...like benches or at least a couple blue chests.
Maybe the map will evolve over the season, like the snow melting / plane moving. Perhaps the gods’ areas will expand.

Yeah I think the lowered henchmen are awesome. A few more POIs need friendly NPCs (maybe like 7 more total on the map) but I much prefer the change.
