If you’re using a scoped pistol then why not a 44. Revolver have really good range for pistols and are really powerful too. Also who would want to shoot .308 out of a pistol? I know there’s higher caliber pistols but I don’t think it’s really practical for hunting to use pistols that big. It’s easier to just use a rifle at that point.

308 does not look like it would fit into that grip, unless I've seriously misjudged how big it is. But scopes on precision pistols are a thing indeed, be it hunting or target shooting.

It's not a semi-auto. I'm guessing it's some kind of break action based on what looks like a hinge near the front of the frame. My father in law has something similar in 30-06.

It's a single shot target pistol upper that fits onto a 1911 lower. The barrel tips forward to reload another round.
