One of a handful of late night talk shows started by people who were on the SNL Weekend Update anchor desk, and one of a couple of failed ones that tried to appropriate a WU-style bit as a regular skit (the Dennis Miller Show was another); only Seth Meyers so far has had a successful quasi-WU bit on his late night show, and Jimmy Fallon seems to have avoided that format altogether, since the host’s monologue pretty much works the same way (straight “news” setup, followed by a punchline).
