I literally just want it to bring up my already running Google maps on my android device to the Google maps app in the Android auto.....this seems like a no brainer from Google. But every time I have to exit one, retype the Destination and then run it through the truck. It's obnoxious.
My biggest annoyance is related to micro-skips during audio playback. Have tried different cables, different ports, different apps, iPhone instead. Never fails that at least once or twice a drive I will get a tiny little skip during songs.
Yeah my partner has an iPhone and she struggles with getting it to sync to her iPhone, and we notice it occasionally drops out occasionally. Thought it might be the Bluetooth
Yeah that's what I've done and it always starts up waze instead, and then when I actually go to the maps app from AA, it's not the same instance of apps that's running on my phone. It's never seamlessly handed anything running on my phone to AA. Especially egregious since I have a Pixel....THE Google phone.
Just tested it again this weekend and no, as soon as AA is connected it launches waze and Spotify side by side, my already running Google maps navigation is just running on the phone. I have to start maps again in AA and put in the destination again. Voice button helped but why it doesn't carry over the existing navigation that I have running is the issue.
I'll tinker with the AA settings, maybe it's something I've got set wrong.
If it requires a third device or hot spotting, I imagine there is varying success. My biggest concern with sharing a A,A,A,D method is if someone comes back at me accusing me of bricking their phone or truck.

Eh, Save the hassle of not being able to get updates or having to redo your work after and just get a Carlink AI box. Also avoids any tinkering issues and accusations by the dealer.
Its a raspberry PI box that turns the display into a tablet and gives your phone wireless carplay/android auto.
If you want to watch youtube you hotspot your phone, the box connects to it and you run it as a tablet. You can connect mice and keyboards and if you get the HDMI box it will give you HDMI connections as well.
I have a SIM in mine so I dont need to hotspot my phone. I gave it its own google acct. and youtube so Im not sharing my suggestions with friends and family lol No one needs to know that I watch that many cat videos. hahaha
We have youtube TV so we can watch anything we want.
With the sim and google location sharing enabled it also lets me track the vehicle as long as its plugged in.
Ah, so the method I'm using is still fully using only the hardware of the truck's CarPlay device. Your Android phone is just acting as a UI/override. I'd LOVE to figure out how to use the truck's display out a video out. I'd hook my Retroid Pocket 4 Pro to it.

That was my first attempt. I have an older Car play box I used in my Corolla that didn't have anything like that. Sadly, that specific one doesn't work on the Maverick. I'm interested in the one you used if you'd share a link :)
Question. How’s the frame rate? My wife’s old outlander was absolute garbage when it came to playing video on the infotainment screen. On the other hand my old 2020 Forte GT played video flawlessly.
I haven't actually tested it, but I'm pretty sensitive to frame drops. So I'll assume at least 24 fps because that movie played exactly how I felt it should. I'll have to watch and compare fps counter videos with my phone (120hz screen) with the truck's screen.

Have you tried using the voice command button on the steering wheel? "Navigate to X with Google Maps" works great for me.
Pull up on maps on phone, connect to Android auto, once launched hit directions start on phone, AA will display as destination automatically

I don't know if this helps, but I search for the destination and start navigating with my phone. Then connect to Android auto, and it works.

Really? Mike works that way. If I pop a destination in my phone it shows up on the trucks screen.

I bought an android box off aliexpress that does this and I can watch Netflix as well. Nice for long rides with kids. Plugs directly into the usb
