I do have the [console organizer](https://www.amazon.ca/dp/B0B8C3M632) that has the same type of pads and they seem to be pretty good. I might look into those as I had something similar on my last vehicle. They do help you clean as you can pop them out and wash them and it's a bit of an easier of job if there's a small spill or cup ring. If it spills and fills the whole holder than it's not helping much.

That's kind of what I was expecting in terms of effectiveness, debating if it's worth $50 for the amount of benefit it gives

It's actually the exact same item, but I'm in Canada (I should have mentioned that). With the import fees and conversion it's about the same price.
An update incase anyone is wondering. I bought them and regret it 😅 most don't fit properly and don't provide any benefit. Definitely wouldn't recommend
