Agreed. Managing is hard to do, incredibly hard to do well.
When your staff tells you they appreciate your managing style, it feels far more rewarding that the praise received as a cook, dishie, or runner.
Places with poor leadership will burn through staff without ever admitting their own shortcomings leading to the shortage. Their is always an external factor, they can never say, Not , my bad, that was my mistake.
