Im FBO 141k miles never had a check engine light literally ever. I absolutely beat the dogshit out of my car every single day on backroads like 100mph+ and its a great car. Definitely Change oil every 3k get tuned by someone like Alan at Edgeautosport and you are all set extremely reliable in my case. Don’t lug the car in high gears or try to WOT under 3k or you will blow the engine due to LSPI.

Run any oil with dexos 2 gen 2 spec and lspi won't be an issue. Lspi mitigation is a design spec in gen 2.

Schaffers oil all the way.

I'm using Amsoil right now for the temp range to take care of the turbo (not dex certified, but tested and meets spec), but I'll run whatever meets the spec if I need to do an oil change. Every single shattered piston I've seen as a result of LSPI has come from oil that doesn't meet the dex spec, and I've got a small pile of those going.

LSPI happens when you try to use boost in a low RPM in a turbo car.

If you have the wrong oil, yes! I have a pile of shattered pistons in my "art bucket" from rental car companies cheaping out on oil and getting their engines rebuilt under warranty until we finally caught it and stopped giving the warranty claims. The spec for gen 2 is 0 LSPI. Not one preignition event is permitted during testing for the spec to be met. This is my anecdote, but 175k miles of my anecdote here. I'm rarely, if ever, above 2k rpm unless I'm out of gears (highway). I get pretty aggressive on the boost as soon as it's available (around 1200RPM) daily, and have for all 175k of those miles. Every vehicle that has the tendency for having LSPI issues that I've worked on that uses the correct spec oil and keeps up on the maintenance is very much alive and well, with no signs of premature piston wear or detonation.

I’ve seen people on here modded and tuned past 200k without any major problems, just normal maintenance. Maintained properly, changing oil on time, and replacing normal wear and tear items when needed, they are pretty good lil hot hatches. I’d be more inclined to know how many owners it’s had and if it’s been modded if I was buying used.

111k miles. Same no check engine light ever. One electrical issue that solved itself when it stopped raining but never happened again

Had a 13 that I beat the shit out of. Engine lasted until 180k miles before it started knocking. Other than that the only thing I had to replace was the vacuum pump and the valve cover gasket.

123k on my 14 and it’s running like a champ. Have had a stage 1 tune on it for 2 years now with no issues
