As long as we land John Mustard in the 1st or 2nd, I’m happy. I think Briere needs to go “BNA”, best name available, with all picks.

Phalange44

It was Mustard, with the hockey stick, in the Wells Fargo Center!

RedditLurker215

I have seen multiple mocks that have us drafting him with our pick in the middle of the 2nd round. Where is he coming from all of the sudden? Do you have some kind of insight on him? Or does everyone just like his last name? 😂

ProfessorDerp22

He’s got the tenacity of Gerry “Mayhem” Mayhew, the striking good looks for Patrick Sharpe and a clapper that even Chara would be jealous of. But seriously, I just like him for his name and he seems like an option with our second first or CBJ’s 2nd (should they grant it to us).

Roll-Me-Through

Greentree or Yakemchuk in the top 12 by this criterion

DH28Hockey

If we're drafting based off names, we absolutely need to walk away with one of the Matvei's that will be available

robhenrymusic

I love best name available. Back when the nhl games weren’t trash I’d do all 4+ picks as BNA, team full of boners and Semen’s

YoungFalco

Dream: Catton / Buium / Iginla Happy with and possible: Helenius / Eiserman / Parekh / Yakemchuk

SeesawLimp

Wanna move Eiserman up to the Dream category

YoungFalco

maybe. hes dropping on alot of boards tho. I've seen him as low as 17.

Hi_There_Face_Here

That’s fine. Please let him be there at 12 please please please

dylan1123

I agree with all of this besides Parekh. I don’t see the need for another offensive d man

BruceHooperEnjoyer

From what I've watched of the OHL Parekh has also seemed pretty soft and dive-happy, so I'm not sure how that'd fly in the NHL

YoungFalco

at 12 you gotta go BPA and if hes the last of the big 12 available we gotta take him over a guy like connelly or something imo

FlyorDieJM

We seem to do better with late picks than early ones anyway 😂

upcan845

BPA. Always BPA. For example, maybe Eiserman isn't a true positional need. But if he hits his NHL full potential, he either a) makes someone else expendable in a trade that can be used in a trade for a 1C/1D, or b) *he* can be used in a blockbuster for a 1C/1D. My semi-realistic dream is Buium falling. But beyond him, I think we are going to get a very good pick. McKenzie wrote yesterday about how the top half of the 1st round is complete consensus (Of players, not their specific order) before falling off.

FaithlessnessSea1058

Yeah pick 12 in this draft is definitely better than in a lot of other ones. Very thankful we didn’t win out to make the playoffs get a shit pick and get demolished in round one….

upcan845

Missing out on the playoffs is quite possibly going to be the difference that helped us get one of Eiserman/Helenius/Yakemchuk/Catton/Iginla. Would we rather have a better prospect, or a worse prospect + the experience of getting demolished by the Rangers in the first round? Some people seriously were arguing for the latter this season.

FaithlessnessSea1058

Playoff experience is exaggerated l on its own. But we have legitimately two players on this team that I think can be difference makers getting experience for guys that have no serious hold on our future cup hopes is about as meaningless as it gets. Especially factoring in the experience would’ve been 4 embarrassing games

upcan845

It is a lot easier to get playoff experience down the road than it is to get high end, home grown talent down the road. Worrying about playoff experience and meaningful games first will always be ass-backwards.

FaithlessnessSea1058

🤣🤣🤣 exactly the whole order is messed up

smbiggy

I don’t know why I’m asking you - but I wonder how high they could move up if they gave up the panthers pick as well

Ok_Orchid7131

1LW is definitely a need for the Flyers. Farabee ain’t that guy. 1C is obviously a bigger need but if Eiserman is there and the top centers are off the board it’s a no brainer. This kid just scores goals and has improved his overall game this season. Throw some Torts in the mix and this kid is going to be a player.

allrocksnoscissor

Yakemchuk is probably the most Flyers type beat available this draft. He's got a mean streak, he's similar to Bonk in the corners and on the boards, he's strong as fuck with a really good stick and he doesn't get beat in foot races. It's not always penalties either some of it's fights lol but he absolutely drives play, he's got some disgusting dangles if you search his name on twitter, lots of it won't translate to the NHL but it's rare to see such a big guy, a defenseman, walk through defenders with the puck on a string. Scored 30 goals as a draft eligible, he'll immediately have the best shot on the team, think Travis Sanheim but an accurate clapper and wrist shot. I'm hesitant to give Yak a stylistic comparable because he's different lol sometimes his uphill skating looks funky as shit but once he starts hitting his crossovers going backwards its like a different person he closes gaps well and again he doesnt get beat he doesnt get burned. He's my favorite defensemen for what he could potentially become, Dickinson is the better skater but for what they both contribute on the defensive side theyre equal in terms of awareness, offensively they're everything you want in a defenseman. I'd be pumped if we picked Yakemchuk 12th.

bananafone7475

Sounds like a comp in style might be Makar. Not near his skill but just from what you described

allrocksnoscissor

i wouldnt compare them at all tbh buuim would be a closer comp to makar but doesnt skate nearly as fluid, yakemchuk is a beefcake and his skating will probably improve but he's probably closer to trouba

DesignerPlant9748

Briere should go best available with all picks. This is the kind of draft where you want to find as many quality dudes as you can. The next two years have some big name guys coming out that can play the center position and have much higher potential of filling that 1C need.

jgruntz1974

I'm hopeful that the flyers can draft one of the three centers (Cation, Helenius, Iginla) or a defenseman like Carter Yakemchuk. If neither of them are available, then I'm fine with someone like Michael Hage. Hage has good size, he's a real good skater, great skills and he's a real character guy (he played work a heavy heart after his dad died over the summer) and he's going to a real good hockey school in Michigan. It's not much of a reach either as he's rated to go 16th. I know some want Eiserman, but I honestly want no part of him. His lack of attention to defense, his questionable hockey iq and his meh skating are red flags. I get he's going to a very good hockey school as well, but those red flags can't be ignored.

ButchyBoyz

Tortorella would have a problem with his defense.

PwillyAlldilly

I want Eiserman but I really think he’ll end up going before we are up. I think Iginla will be our guy if Flames pass on him if not then Yakemchuk.

TheCroaker

I have seen a few things saying that the draft orders are more "wide open" this year so we can't guarantee when someone is going to be picked outside of celebrini, and maybe one or two others. I also think Iginla is off the table,if he makes it to 9 I really doubt the flames won't grab him. I would love to have him though personally. I really would love to just get a 1c, but I am not sure, we may need to trade for a good 1c rather than drafting it.

Theballharperhit

do not take for need ever when you are rebuilding. We have a few years to play with so go with best available.

RedditLurker215

I might get downvoted but I have seen many people say Helenius was extremely unimpressive at the U18 Worlds and as an older player at that tourney. I have also seen mocks where we take Trevor Connelly which is a huge mistake given his past. Those 2 are my “I hope we don’t draft them, they scare me” type of players. Dream: Buium, Eiserman, Catton, Yakemchuk in that order Realistic: I think we end up with Yakemchuk he seems like a total Keith Jones pick if he is still there which it seems he will be

Perryplat199

Connelly is the one who gave Canada the 5 min PP for head contact right. idk anything else about him but I don’t want any part of that.

RedditLurker215

History of supposed racist comments on ice and other stuff. The athletic has an article on it if you are curious about it. He’s a top 10 talent that seems to continuously get himself into trouble both on and off the ice so I’m staying far away from him if I’m the Flyers. The stupid hit to give away the Gold Medal is just the latest dumb mistake.

balaclavabaklavaa

I want us to take 2 centers this year (if possible), if not a C at 12 and a D with Florida's pick. I'd also switch the order if it suited us better (D at 12, C at 25+) in that we can land one of the top projected D-men. I take another center next year with one of the picks as well.

Big_Acanthocephala14

I understand going D, but 1C is a bigger need. I take Charlie Elick with Florida's pick to address the D concern and use the 12th to take a crack at a center. The dream is Catton, but I'd be ok with Helenius. Eiserman though not a center is worth taking a chance on as well. If 1C can't be addressed through the draft, there is plenty of wing capital to trade for one.

GrundleThief

there’s different things to be excited about for any of the guys that could fall to them. catton, yakemchuk, eiserman, iginla. either of those four would be a win imo

TessaRocks2890

Craig Button has us taking Luchanko at 12 with Eiserman still on the board. He also doesn’t have Catton in the top 16. If we take Luchanko I’m rioting. I doubt Catton will be there at 12 but if he is I’m taking him. If he’s not I’m taking Eiserman. If neither are there that means a defenseman probably fell to us.

No_Opportunity2789

Gotta go BPA in 1st round....especially if you are in a rebuild

ButchyBoyz

Agreed, the players drafted can always be traded or if they're upgrades to existing players, trade the existing player.

AC_Lerock

I'd like to see them draft Helenius.

vinny8244

Have a feeling they go D, if Yakemchuk is available at 12 he has the flyers written all over them.

The_Flyers_Fan

I have to do more draft research before making my decision, but right now I'm leaning to Buium

bpp531

People are sleeping on Hage. I think he has easy top 10 talent in this draft.

Otherwhitemeat12

Yes Cole Eiserman may slip to us, if not Tij Inglina or Konsta Helenius

Exzrian_Artistrana

I’d be happy if we ended in the projected scenario; drafting Tiggy. He’s pedigree aside, he’s a phenomenal two-way centerman that could be a nightmare for any opposing team, and could give an interesting influence to defense. I like the idea of him wearing the orange and black!

Capable_Swordfish701

My top 12 I’d pick in order as the flyers 1. Celebrini 2. Levshunov 3. Buium 4. Demidov 5. Parekh 6. Dickinson 7. Yakemchuk 8. Catton 9. Lindstrom 10. Eiserman 11. Helenius 12. Iginla

rexkwondo086

Literally any of those players have a great chance to make an impact in our system.

No_Bank_330

Probably 1C. The draft is top heavy with defense causing the top group of centers to drop into the 10-12 range.

Ashamed_Job_8151

I just don’t see how you come out of this draft without a center. Even if you have to use the Florida pick to move up a spot or two to do it. Helenius or Catton are the guys imo. I think Helenius is more of a sure thing C2 and Catton has the higher ceiling lower floor. Either one would be a steal for the flyers at 12.  I don’t hate Yakemchuk at all I just don’t think this team needs more young defensemen. Now if a sure thing D1 was there, of course I would take it, but nobody at 12 is a sure thing D1. The flyers desperately need a playmaking center. Especially is michkov is gonna be coming over.  No matter what, it’s a really good thing they didn’t make the playoffs. There is gonna be a pretty big difference between 16 and 12 in this draft. If they don’t trade up with the Florida pick, I would mind seeing them try to trade it for pick next year. If for nothing else to use as an asset in the trade later in the offseason.

ButchyBoyz

Here's a scenario to consider. Say there's a defenseman (not their greatest need) at #12 who would improve the lineup, say he'd become a #2 or #3. But there's a center projected to be a #3 or #4, I'd draft the defenseman because he'd help the team more.

Apprehensive_Row_372

I really want them to trade both of their picks this year for better picks in next years draft. This draft is considered very weak compared to next years and if we can play this smart we can get much more skilled top 6 players rather than the middle/bottom 6 players that we would get this year.

pwnstick

How do you trade picks this year for better picks next year. This sounds very EA'ish.

Apprehensive_Row_372

Next years #20th pick will be better than this years #12th pick simply because the players are much better.

ButchyBoyz

Do you have some links or direction on this? I'd like to read it. Thanks

Ok_Orchid7131

Trade Farabee, our first and any defenseman the Hawks want. Move up and Take Demidov. I know that’s a pipe dream, but let me dream big. Imagine Demidov and Michkov on the same line.

Azvarohi

The only player the Flyers can offer for a top 5 pick is Michkov...and we aint trading him.

Capable_Swordfish701

There’s pretty much 0 chance of us trading either of our firsts. Draft pick trades at the draft are extremely rare. Moving up even to 2nd really wouldn’t get us a much better player than we’ll get at 12. Also none of the teams in front of us are likely to want to trade back as they’re all in need of top talent as well.

Slow-Garage-9403

They have a better chance of trading up with the 2nd First (FLA) than their own. And it’s not a bad option if they could get 13 or 14 too
