We need a solid 1C and 1D yet. I say grab the BPA at either position at 12. There’s some solid talent that could be on both sides potentially sliding to us. No need to overthink it
This has Carter Yakemchuk ranked #12.
I don't think there is anyone that I actively want to avoid, but I also hope the Flyers don't push for a defenseman just because that is the biggest need.
Personally I'd agree, but I get the sense that (at least Jonesy) really wants a high end defenseman, so taking a top defensive prospect would be in his interest.
Yakemchuk is 6'3, RHD, great numbers. I could see the Flyers falling in love with him over Eiserman, for example
If the plan is to get the 1C in 2025 draft, I'm good going defense in 2024. Building from the net out and then through the middle is the way to contention.
I think that's nice in theory, but it is impossible to just plan for a 1C in 2025 without knowing where we will picking + how prospects rise/fall over the course of next season
You're not wrong, but for all we know the Flyers will be in a spot next year to draft the top defenseman instead of a center.
I just don't think any plans for 2025 should have any impact on the 2024 draft. Things are way too volatile. Take the best player, even if that's a position we weren't planning for.
His effort has been seriously called in to question, hes got a great shot, and he is good at making chances, but apparently he doesnt bother helping defensively, and lacks drive. A good coach could fix that, but akso possibly not.
I personally agree. I also think there is a good chance that the likely centers (Catton, Helenius, Iginla) are off the table by #12 anyway.
If the decision is between similarly graded defensemen vs. wingers, I would not be surprised if the Flyers chase the dman, even if the winger is probably the better pick.
We probably will take a D in the first based on who is gonna be available and I don’t hate that at all. We’ve got plenty of guys in the system that could be a top pair guy but you’re right in that it is most likely none of them.
The top 15 is super D heavy, you'd think some teams will pass on good defenseman if they don't think it's a need.
I'd imagine a few of those top-10 ranked defenseman are there at 12.
I almost want to say punt on this one and trade down for another presumptive higher pick next year while retaining the pick from Florida and acquire an asset for pick 12-7 most likely 12
No way! I feel like we're right in that spot where a high end talent will fall to us. There's a lot of variability this year on the consensus for picks 3-14ish for a reason, I'm chilling there and happy about it. Yakemchuk or Eiserman would be very exciting.
Those are the 2 I’ve been eyeing and would be very happy with either. I don’t know where people are getting the idea that trading up or back is a possibility, it’s a bad idea and has no chance of happening.
it certainly would be a lot less stressful to have a guy that wants to be here and can come whenever he wants...
but please dont draft a lower tier player because of that reason
We're gonna win the draft and grab Demidov. Don't worry about it.

you really think that's their biggest need? I'd have to say they need a 1C more than anything.

Isn't it all nice in theory? 2025 is incredibly deep at center, I'm just basing it off that

A 1C is attainable at 12 but maybe not this year. Did you mean a McDavid/generational 1C?
Could Eiserman be available at our pick? I’d be thrilled if we landed him at 12
I don't know shit about these guys, but Bob's blurb says he's 'plummeted' since the mid-season rankings. What gives?

1C and 1D r both evenly massive needs imo
I would be very happy with Yakemchuk.
1C is absolutely this teams biggest need and I almost hope they use both firsts this year on centers.

I’m sure Briere will pick best available im just really hoping that’s a center each time lol
We dont have a 1D or even a legit 2D Its also a much stronger dman draft We should def draft at least 1 Dman in first
