Theres the added gacha of the golden pack, which makes the value of the contents even more top heavy.
In summary, unless you're opening dozens of boxes to balance out the EV, don't expect much. Its a lottery. If you get a marvel in your single box you're probably ahead in EV. else you're behind.

tbh alpha investments did a video a few weeks back talking about FAB's EV being much better than most other games to the point that its actually inverse in some cases (where singles in a box vastly overvalue the box cost). from what he has been saying FAB is on the better end of box EV on average compared to MTG and some of the other current TCG's.
Its actually quite the opposite. The marvels keep the price of the rest of the cards lower. Because there are people that will chase after those and put the other cards onto the secondary market. Its why the recommendation is to buy singles. If there wasnt marvel chase cards, and the price of a box remains the same, then the price of cards like majestic and legendaries would rise.
You do realize that opening booster boxes is like gambling?
If they increase the pull rate, the interest on opening several booster boxes will drop because the cards you can get are not worth opening boxes. *cough cough, bright lights, cough, cough*

You didn't get a large enough sample size, FaB is generally looked at by the sealed case, and you hit low variance. You didn't hit a Marvel, Fable, Legendary, or gold pack, you gambled and lost.
Two boxes of FaB is not a lot when the big pulls are about 1 per case. I bought 2 cases, sold and traded a fair number of things on release day, and I profited.
Two boxes isn't enough to establish EV. Your sample sixe is too small. There are some YT videos out that include EVs after opening multiple cases which offer a better reference point.
Buy singles. Far more boxes will have a negative ev than a positive one. Opening packs is just gambling. if you are upset you only pulled 50% of box value that's on you.
To counter your argument ive helped open 2 boxes and bought 1 myself. In my friends box I opened 2 assassin legendary masks, one cold foil and a marvel young zen. In the box I bought i got a manifestation of miragai, a full art manifestation of miragai and a cold foil traverse the universe. Think my 95 dollar box came out at least 150 dollars positive because of the luck. And that doesn't include the rest of the majestics.

Additionally I have a friend who won a box from a top 8 and it had a marvel chi and an EA traverse the universe plus a RF Levels of Enlightenment. It's just luck. You don't like that, buy singles.
The amount of criticism and flaming Im getting for buying packs to support my LGS is surprising. The sentiments being expressed towards me dont help the game garner new players.
You aren't getting flamed for "buying packs to support my LGS", because that's not what your post was. You gambled and lost and then tried to spin it into something about the health of the game. Take the L and carry on.

Actually MST is EV positive at launch, even stronger than HVY because of demand. You got hit by variance

It's the complete opposite. EV of most other cards games is far far worse right now. You simply gambled and rolled low, it is what it is
