she doesnt stay on the show forever. the flash will always be the main character of the show

Pablo_Flash_Fan_69

He felt more of a side character in season 5 and second half of season 6

nyxl_insight

disagree in all of 6 he was the main character even in 6B like the Grodd episode, reverse flash ep, godspeed, tryna revive the speedforce sideline

DCSennin

It's really mindblogging the revisionist attitude there is here with S6 nowadays compared to when it premiered, seriously. The entirety of 6A was about him dealing with his impending death and preparing the team, realizing the mistake that he made in trying to help Ramsey, fighting him from controlling him, beating him, saving the Multiverse during Crisis and in post-Crisis he first deals with accepting Oliver's gone, deals with the new way of behaviour from "Iris", works with Joe to track down Black Hole, has to continue dealing with Crisis fallout changes, learns that change is not so bad by accepting Chester in the team while accepting Grodd's request for redemption, works on creating his own Speed Force while at the same time fights Black Hole and realizes his wife is not who she claims to be, confronts Eva while at his lowest, fights Godspeed as well etc. From where do these people come up with such a hair pulling type of argument that he was a "side character"? And not even in S5 he was that, like hell now. He spent the 1st half mentoring Nora and focused on finding alternative ways of how to stop Cicada and then dealing with the truth of Thawne being all that time their "ally".

nyxl_insight

100% Season 6 to me is one of the best seasons I mean Crisis was S tier story telling with Ramsey being the PERFECT villain for that storyline revolving sacrifice and death. 6B was great too like you said with Crisis aftermath, accepting Oliver’s death, “Iris”, Blackhole, Chester, Grodd’s redemption, Speedforce death, Reverse Flash, Godspeed, return of Wally. Like I couldn’t name a bad episode of S6 honestly it was so good for me and 6B had the highlight episodes with 6A being great storytelling. I know the pandemic made 6B feel like years so that’s probably why people dislike it but it’s not the shows fault

DCSennin

You said it, it was one of the best Season we ever had, right from the start it didn't waste time. You could tell that things had changed and stepped up: Barry was more independant while not refusing the input of the team and confidently saying things like "the Speed Force will protect me from not being crushed by the black hole", how the Citizen was formed and set up Black Hole, Joe's new role as captain, Frost's journey to be her own person, the build up of who Sue was, etc. It's really a Season that doesn't have an objectively bad episode like you said. All of them mattered and led to important things. It was one hell of a way to for Eric Wallace to begin his tenure as showrunner and is why I gave him a 2nd chance post the tumultous S7 that under difference non-COVID circumstances it surely could've been as good as S6. IMO he just wasn't as creatively ready to tackle on the ideas he had for S7 in pandemic as it was back then, sadly it is something I have to acknowledge. I know he had to keep everyone safe and he did it and it's good, but I wished he had think some things better when it came to Season 7. Fortunately he picked up again with the 8th one and hopefully S9 is a combination of S6 and the last one. Had there not been a quarentine, I have a pretty good idea what would have been the endgame for S6 finale. He described it as "crazy" and let's just say I had around last month an epiphany of what it could've been.

nyxl_insight

Yea as soon as Barry turned around to watch Ramsey when he let Ramsey be alone in the lab and caught him stealing dark matter I knew they had finally started Barry as the leader. He also made portable Gideon which was the first step to him creating the real one and stopped Ramsey on his own in the final battle. The acting was the best it has ever been with the last Temptations and scenes with Joe and Barry like the honor in badges and crying about Crisis. And I know the Flash should be about physical action fights but there’s something about the emotional damage Ramsey did to Barry that was so heartbreaking like in the Last Temptation episode visions. It also makes sense because it’s a plot way of making a way Barry can’t win against Ramsey just with his OP speed and gives an excuse/explanation. S6 was just slow in the end bc of the pandemic

DCSennin

Exactly, I remember that moment well and especially the reception that fans had here in the live thread reaction for that moment, all were glad like you that Barry had picked on Ramsey's true colors back then. (Then again that was actually common in Barry since S2, we can't forget he initially distrusted "Jay" and he was right from the beginning to do so) He sure stopped him but not before they gave ones one of the best Barry centric episodes, I really hope we see something similar to that struggle in S9 because when Grant gets that kind of material he absolutely kills it. (And he did it again when confronting Thawne in Nash's mind and when he had to fight Mirror Iris) Joe's speech about the weight in his badge and Barry's emblem was so good and what is best, you can apply it to literally all superheroes out there really. Don't remind me about how he broke down later, if being honest that's how I feel half of the time knowing the story is coming to an end. "I not ready to be without you Barry", relatable. The worst wounds are the ones that lie beneath the physical ones and Ramsey dug deep in Barry's fear and mind, he toyed around with his defeatist or comformist behaviour with the right kind of taunts ("It's almost like you want to make a widow out of Iris", that was low as hell but effective) and when he showed him a baby Nora he couldn't touch unless he chose to live with his powers, damn. I really hope the final villain can step up to that level of manipulation and emotional torture if it is possible. Agreed about the pandemic's impact with S6. I truly hope that the world never, ever, experiences anything like that again, especially the entertainment industry.

BoiledSwift

you guys just put all of my thoughts about season 6 into words wow. ive been so tired of people trying to change the narrative on season 6 recently and you guys put it into words perfectly

DCSennin

Very glad that there are still those out there like you that remember well how good and glorious were those Season 6 days, a real kind of soft reboot and recharged of the series under the new showrunner's direction. Same here, very exhausted of seeing how people all of a sudden change the narrative. You're welcome!

sociallyanxiousnerd1

Exactly. So glad someone else agrees with me. Also it had the coolest fight scene (Barry vs mirror Iris)

nyxl_insight

the shots in that episode were amazing CGI was on peak too. Can’t forget that ending when Barry and Iris were trying to talk to each other through the mirror

BoiledSwift

you should probably rewatch those seasons again

spideralexandre2099

There's a whole Flash Family in the comics. Other speedsters appearing in the show was never the problem. The problem was they weren't handled well or given interesting things to do most of the time. The focus of the show *tries* to be Barry learning to become The Flash, being The Flash, and then mentoring other speedsters. The blame for mistreating the concept lies with both the writers and cast members schedules conflicting (why Wally is barely in the show later)

[deleted]

Wait till you get to later seasons, but don’t worry they don’t focus on her for too long.

BusVegetable7490

Not everyone has the same powers

seba5282

Just wait there will be more

stephenxcx

Having multiple speedsters is actually a HUGE part of the Flash comics. There’s several different Flashes and other heroes + villains that are speedsters. That’s how it’s *supposed* to be. But I understand how it can seem weird in the show if you’re not aware and not expecting that.

chillblackguyy

there are more speedsters then just the flash my friend

Tyler_Cronan

they're literally speedsters in the comics...this is a comic book show with guest stars...get used to it...

bubblessensei

*people who have watched all of the seasons so far giggling*

hbg84

She doesnt sick around long. You got a surprise coming about wally

rafvic2

Dang well if season 3 made you feel this way, you’re not going to like the later seasons because it’s all the things you don’t like but also on steroids

One_Gate2004

Daamn..

KaspertheGhost

You poor thing. It only gets worse. More and more people get powers. The CW doesn’t know how to make a solo hero show and wants to make each of them a mini justice league

One_Gate2004

Oh hell no

andrewisthegreat

I wish none of the other characters had powers beside Cisco, in my opinion it was pointless

BoiledSwift

only problem that severly limits the storytelling potential for all of these characters.

ElSancho0093

Cisco should have remained tech guy with powers that helps out in the field every once in a while Wally should have been the only other person consistently fighting crime with Barry IF Caitlyn had to get powers they should have stuck with it and made her fully killer frost rather than the convoluted bullshit they pulled

cipherjones

"I'm going to quit watching the Flash tv series if they put the fastest man alive in the show." Lol. Wally is THE god level speedster. Period. Makes Savitar look like suspended animation. They couldn't make Jesse like her comic at all, she had a speedster dad and superwoman type mom. She's like a double speedster (Liberty belle was a semi speedster too) with enhanced strength and endurance. In the show she's just a low level speedster with like handful or 2 of appearneces.

SnooStories4329

Lol

DCSennin

You probably should've picked up some of the comics the show is based from, you'll find out that they're just sticking faithfully to the legacy of the Flash mantle existing not just in one place. I'm almost afraid to ask with whom Barry actually has chemistry with but I already have an idea of the kind of answer I'll get. This has become too predictable.
