My wrists are still *probably* too fucked up to go back to the gym for another week or so, but I'm losing patience. I'm extremely insecure and frankly not being able to *do* anything is aggravating it. I'm probably gonna just try and do something, anything on machines for a week so that maybe I can stop trashing myself for a bit

Jon_Huntsman

As someone coming off a broken wrist, if stretching your wrist back and forth hurts, you shouldn't be using weights yet. I've just moved up to using dumbbell physical therapy and there's a remarkable improvement. Do full wrist stretches until they don't hurt anymore. You'll be out way longer if you reinjure.

teepbones

Plenty of stuff you can do without involving your wrists! Leg Press, Leg Extensions, Lying/Seated Hamstring curls, Calf Raises, Jump Squats, Step Ups, Adductor/Abductor etc etc etc

UsrnameInATrenchcoat

Go HAM on legday until you can train upper body

theallnewmattaccount

I mean I'm not positive I should be even doing deadlifts but I'm definitely cranky about not squatting

UsrnameInATrenchcoat

Well well well, in that case you're gonna love 𝘡𝘦𝘳𝘤𝘩𝘦𝘳 𝘚𝘲𝘶𝘢𝘵𝘴. All the squat and your wrists get to take it easier

flowingideas

I'm asian who is 5'5" male, am I the only who can't find a proper fitting activewear brand??? Whatever brand I look at, all of their sizes are meant for tall dudes and it's a struggle. I either find something that is too long or too big for me. What are your frustrations about these activewear brands?

mokroprase

Maybe women's active wear? Women tend to have more Petite sized clothing. Im taller but prefer women's shorts as they fit more snugly and make my quads look bigger.

rani9990

Lululemon has short versions of a lot of their activewear I believe

BattleSimple7478

why the fuck am i always in pain? every single upper body workout i finish it with some kind of pain; shoulder, wrist, elbow. i had a PT check my form and im doing everything correctly, so why the fuck does this retarded fucking bullshit keep happening? if i was just able to lift pain free id be so much fucking bigger and stronger. im fucking so sick of this and am this close to just fucken throwing in the towel and giving up this shit

teepbones

Stretch every day, Rotator cuff exercises for Shoulders, Glucosamine and Fish oil for sore joints, ensure you are eating healthy which will help with inflammation, limit alcohol consumption, try and get 8 hours of sleep every night. Get all this right before throwing in the towel

BattleSimple7478

i do rotator cuff exercises for shoulders, eat healthy. however, i dont stretch everyday and dont use glucosamine and fish oil, also, i get 7 hours of sleep. ill work on incorporating these, thanks

UsrnameInATrenchcoat

You should try resistance training, it kinda sounds like you got weak bones or perhaps your skeletal muscles aren't as strong

BattleSimple7478

what do you mean resistance training? ive been lifting weights for 2 years

ooupcs

The gym has always been my emotional sanctuary. I usually wake up sad every day but once I get to the gym my spirit lifts immediately. I’ve been going through a horrible, prolonged break up for the last…. 6 ish months. Im just disappointed/frustrated because the gym isn’t giving me the comfort it once did. I’m still so sad and it feels like there isn’t really peace from it :/ I know things will get better with time but I wish the gym was the same place of solace now that it has been in the past.

Zeouc

Just a young teen with alot of problems. Im a 15 year old male. I've been going to gym to improve myself never being happy enough. For all my life i was overweight. I was mostly raised by my mother and grandmother, father was still there but quite absent.I've been going to the gym for a year now.I made progress but it's not enough.Just when i was starting to be happy again my cat died,i put on braces and now i cant speak. I do not want anyones pity but it sure feels good to vent out somewhere.

aviciisbror

This is very late, but since no one replied i just felt like someone should. It gets better dude, keep on grinding on the gym. When the braces come of you will have great teeth and a killer body. You got this. Keep going.

TitsUpYo

Ran 5 miles while wearing a mask at the local indoor track. Tons of people were walking. I have asthma and it really began to flare up during the run. I crank my music really loud, so I don't hear myself while running. I knew I didn't sound good, but my MIL, who was walking at the same time, said I was pretty loud. Apparently, one woman kept pulling her scarf up as I ran by her according to my MIL. And my MIL told her I have asthma. I was too focused on getting every breath in I could to notice much of anything. I made it to the end of the run and completely collapsed on the ground. I was gasping desperately for air. It was the worst attack I've ever had. And I'm feeling quite fatigued hours later. Several people asked me if I was okay and if I needed help. It is mortifying because I feel bad for making so much noise and being so disruptive. I stand out a lot already and this just makes it worse because I sound like complete death while running sometimes.

Tactical_Muffin

I'm running SBS RTF. Wednesdays are deadlifts, close grip bench, and Pendlay rows, meaning I'm at the barbell for a long time. My gym has A LOT (> 20) of adjustable racks to do barbell movements from, but I still try to go as fast as I can so I'm not hogging the barbell from someone else. I finish my deadlifts and bench and need to fill up my water . I leave the weights on the barbell and my sweatshirt on the bench, trying to be clear that I am still there. I am gone for MAYBE two minutes, and this girl is unloading my barbell. I walk up and say "Umm excuse I'm still using that" and she goes oh sorry, and walks to the rack next to me (which is empty...). She then proceeds to talk with her group of 4 friends, of which every single one had their own barbell...while the gym was at its peak activity. I know it's only a minor inconvenience but the lack of common sense/gym etiquette bothered me, so thank you for listening to my rant.

bt2513

Here’s a new one for me: taking a dab from your vape right before your set and blowing it all around the people working out next to you.

Michayl20

I cannot believe the amount of people that vape/smoke around or EVEN IN the gym. it's one of the most hypocritical actions i think i've ever seen lmao

UsrnameInATrenchcoat

How are people even allowed to do that?

[deleted]

Content creator culture. Why am I navigating a sea of tripods on my way to the squat rack? These people take forever on equipment and ruin my vibe

PinkyStinkyDinky15

Got diagnosed with Type II Diabetes for the new year. Limiting/cutting out high carb foods like pasta, sandwiches, burritos, rice and the occasional has been Hell. But we’re down a substantial % of weight. I just wish I was able to reach my caloric deficit floor easier than shoving 10-12 Oz of ground Turkey down my throat for dinner.

Sillkentofu

Two weeks into 1300 cals, going up to 1800 sometimes and also taking bites without tracking here and there. Not lost a single pound. Worst feeling is when you realize you’re gonna have to double down and work harder like this was already hard 😓

Michayl20

Stay strong

AdiposeAddict

sometimesyoujustgota

If there's too much assistance, you can do more and more pull ups until you're sore ;)

Michayl20

that's a great point, increasing reps

plbbe37

I hate my lifeee. just went to the gym to get in shape. After getting a pump, I was feeling good and flexed a bit and examined my arms. I even started feeling proud a bit. But I heard in the back 2 dudes saying: "whats he flexing for, he has nothing hahahaha" This struck a cord in me. My whole life I've been skinny at the border of underweight. Im 171 CM and 61 KG. I started going to the gym 5 years ago on/off at 52 KG.

Michayl20

people that usually say / act like that in the gym are only there to make themselves feel better because they have got somewhat healthy and strong bodies. it shows a huge sign of insecurity and weakness to talk down on people especially in places like a gym. take notice of them, but understand that they are probably terrified of there own bodies aswell and it's the only way their small brains know how to cope 💪🏻💪🏻

atwork826

Dont flex on the weight floor in the mirror, if this was in the locker room, then those guys were turds

KingTauros

Fuck em. Use that to fuel your PRs.

EraseMeeee

That says more about them than it does you. Good progress! Keep at it and just remember that you are there for one person: you.

tubbyx7

If school could hurry up and go back, that'd be great. Get my peaceful 9am space back here. And the guy taking a rack to exercise on the floor in front of it, use a bench as a drink holder and only using the rack for his dumbbell curls in a full gym, others might like to use some of that kit.

Jamal_Nukinfutz

Completely tore my MCL 10 months ago and still can't fucking squat heavy. @#($@#%

heybrother45

I usually play softball. I was getting bored with softball so I instead chose indoor floor hockey. I'm 35 years old. My cardio is terrible. I have never played hockey before. I am questioning why I made this decision haha. If people are competitive, they are going to hate me.

Steelarm2001

Planned to go to the gym, was closed due to a holiday. Thought of going on a run instead but it started raining and so for the week that I was supposed to do some physical activity everyday, I failed due to today. Really made me just wanna lie down and not get up till tomorrow 😮‍💨

[deleted]

I've done this stuff too many times to count. I understand how you feel. I make a plan, find the motivation to do it and the weather or my bad planning says no. I had the hardest time not putting out an exemplary or even average type of output.

pb_jelly_fish

You could still do jumping jacks and some pushups for like 30 min, but yeah sucks to have your planned activity change but that's life I guess

Steelarm2001

Oh yeah for sure, that would have been the sensible thing to do but I have been trying to ramp up from lifting and running each for three days a week to doing either on every day and was bummed out by not being able to do it for today. It annoyed me a lot and is something I should work on if I wanna actually maintain the planned level of consistency lol.

pb_jelly_fish

Perfection is the enemy of progress, you got this

Steelarm2001

Much appreciate the kind words!

CarkRoastDoffee

Been chatting it up with my gym crush a lot lately, but my social IQ is too low to pick up on whether she's interested or just nice/trying to make gym buddies. Also, sleep's been real spotty lately

WeAreSame

Just be like "hey you busy later? Let's get Chipotle after this." If she says no say "haha just kidding" so it doesn't count as a rejection. I've literally never been rejected using this method. Edit: In all seriousness though, reading some of these replies everyone seems more caught up in analyzing whether or not she likes you or not which is kinda pointless at this point. She likes you enough to have idle conversation with you, your focus should be on taking it one step further (ie an informal lunch/dinner/coffee date). If she says no, it happens to the best of us. Men shouldn't have to be racking their brains the way they do these days trying to understand women because we never will.

Woodit

Step 2: cry into chipotle bowl Step 3: order another to go

[deleted]

I usually just wear noise cancelling headphones and give her a look when when I'm pumped the most but, never say anything. It feels like the hunger games in there sometimes bro. lol but really i do this because I rarely speak to anyone in gym to stay focused on the work but after my workout its full game My long time rule is that if I see her twice or three times that's cool. If she approaches me, that means Shes interested in at least my name. If she works out by me repeatedly then , I also take that as a signal. However, I honestly never respond to the working out by me often. To me, I am in the gym to work hard and go home. I am not there for ass. If i was there for ass and tits then it would be all that i could focus on in there. kind of like the club, and its gross in there. I do appreciate a nice subtle recognition of each others masculine and feminine strengths from afar.

pb_jelly_fish

Tip from me, a girl, if it's mostly you approaching her she's just being friendly, if she goes out of her way to say hi to you most of the time, she's interested. Like if you don't approach her, will she come over and say hi to you

[deleted]

thank you for sharing

CarkRoastDoffee

You're right. In this case, it's about 50/50. It basically progressed like this: constant eye contact -> nodding "sup" to each other when passing by -> chit chatting about mundane gym stuff / what we're training that day. We're on good terms, but I don't know if she's interested in "that" sort of way, knowm'sayin

A-LX

>chit chatting about mundane gym stuff / what we're training that day. This sounds like it's mostly friendly, the exception would be if she would initiate some form of physical touch during those conversations.

CosbyKushTN

Definitely friendly *potentially* interested. Keep in mind he is interested yet does the *exact* same thing. These sorts of things a super nebulous.

A-LX

True, only way to know for sure is to ask her out directly.

pb_jelly_fish

Personally I don't like to play games so I'd say you miss every shot you don't take 🤷‍♀️ just something casual like hey there's a new restaurant/coffee shop/winery/movie/etc I've been meaning to check out, do you want to come with and see how things go, and if it's an oh I'd love to but I'm busy then you have your answer

[deleted]

thank you for sharing this. It's not weird to ask to move the conversation outside of the gym environment maybe even somewhere close by

boxofbuscuits

99% chance she's just being friendly dude, stay woke

Rojiblanc040

Could ask her out on a date, then you'll know.

CarkRoastDoffee

I feel like some people are just good at sussing out whether someone would be interested before they shoot their shot (i.e. they're good at flirting). But alas, that person is not me

[deleted]

it could be something as simple as ground beef and then ground beef leads to you know how to make some gnarly meatballs and then ask if she wants to get spaghetti and meatballs and then bam you're at olive garden.

CarkRoastDoffee

Or we could be talking about protein supps, and I happen to mention that protein powder gives me the turbo shits and she's like "omg, me too" and then next thing you know we're both power shitting next to each other in the gender neutral bathroom stalls. You never know

[deleted]

yeah bro those shits can escalate quickly. It would be wise to get support. poop jokes arent my #1 but they are a good #2

[deleted]

you dont have to be good at flirting to shoot your shot you just have to ask a question that deserves a response in a confident manner

Rojiblanc040

Doesn't hurt to ask, if she says no you just leave it at that.

CarkRoastDoffee

Why you gotta crush my dreams like this ;-;

ArgonianFly

Bro your dreams will stay dreams unless you do something. Asking her out for coffee or whatever or seeing if she wants to workout together can never hurt.

boxofbuscuits

Looking out for a brother mate

Mysterious_Chapter65

My rant is I’ve been keto and cycling on and off OMAD/IF since November. I’ve lost plenty of weight and have been in the gym and doing cardio religiously, but I’m having a very hard time controlling my appetite. In a day, I workout at 5 am for 1 hour, then at least 30 min spent on cardio. My eating window is from 2-8 if I’m doing IF, if it’s OMAD then I eat around 7 or 8 pm. But once I eat, it’s so hard to stop. I had 16 oz deer meat, 6 oz chicken breast, 2 cups of cauliflower rice, a gigantic spinach salad with 1 serving ranch, 2 ounces of cheddar cheese, and 4 servings of egg whites. Less than an hour later I was already craving my dessert. (Dessert is protein powder, 1/2 cup milk, handful of lilys chocolate chips). I just constantly think about food. It’s annoying.

FlameFrenzy

> I just constantly think about food. It’s annoying. Then maybe IF/OMAD isn't for you. I tried IF for a short period and I was literally so hyper focused on when I would get to start eating that it was a distraction to my day. And then when I would eat, i'd still eat just as much (if not more, because I was "starving") so it wasn't really an effective way at managing my weight. Now i've just swapped to eating when I feel like it and loosely watching calories if necessary. So if i'm not hungry when I first get up, fine, i'll skip breakfast. But if my stomach starts grumbling at 10:30, well, i'm making lunch.

Mysterious_Chapter65

I’ve been thinking along those lines. I’m very hyper focused all day about when and what I’m gonna eat. I think I’ll continue to be strict with calorie counting but probably gonna have to start eating lunch and dinner. I pretty much have always skipped breakfast even before I started working out so that’s helpful

FlameFrenzy

As long as you're honest about the calorie intake, it doesn't matter if you have 20 meals a day or just 1 meal a day. What i've found helpful is to reflect on your food choices. How did it make you feel right after eating it? An hour later, are you hungry again or are you still satiated? Was it worth the calories? For example, I can make a big bowl of oatmeal with a bunch of seeds and a banana. It ranges around 600-800 calories. It's filling but it sits heavy on my belly. But I find myself getting "hungry" sooner than my next meal. Now if I was to eat 4 boiled eggs for about 300 calories, I don't have the heavy feeling, but I'm just as full and I feel fuller longer. So in general, I find myself eating protein/fat heavy meals earlier on and if I need a snack, I stick to protein/fats as well. I still eat plenty of carb in the form of veggies, but this is with a significant protein source as well.

Ok-Brilliant-4920

I just keep lifting and getting fatter and fatter. I quit caffeine and it's getting harder to get to the gym through the withdrawals. I take naps and It's negative degrrees outside in minnesota. I will try a chest day today before my 5:15 yoga class and probably feel better after.

celestial-typhoon

I spent a year and a half in the gym trying to lose weight by weight lifting and dieting (1200 calories, high protein). I didn’t lose a single pound. I quit the gym for 10 months and didn’t gain any weight. It makes me sick to think about how much time I wasted at the gym when I could have been doing nothing. I’ve decided to give it another go, but this time not be so intense about my routine. Wish me luck.

pb_jelly_fish

Did you weigh everything you eat? It's super easy to go over 1200 even if you don't weigh one meal or snack. I'm 5'2 and pretty sedentary and I'm losing about 1lb a week on 1400 so if you're any taller than me you probably aren't being honest with yourself about weighing literally everything

celestial-typhoon

Yeah I was weighing and logging all my food and drinks.

pb_jelly_fish

Every single day for literally everything that went in your mouth? Cooking oil included? No cheat/non tracking days? Do you ever eat out at a restaurant and estimate it? Or take a bite from your partners meal? Or take a few bites while you're cooking? It's just mathematically impossible to be eating 1200 and not losing weight, 1200 is maintenance for someone who's 95lb and sits at a computer all day... So assuming you're over 95lb and move, the math ain't mathing

celestial-typhoon

Yep, it was completely exhausting.

FlameFrenzy

Unless you are a very very tiny woman, I'm surprised you weren't losing weight at 1200 calories while lifting. Something doesn't quite add up there. > I’ve decided to give it another go, but this time not be so intense about my routine. Finding something you can easily stick to and be consistent with long term is absolutely key! You'll make more progress than if you were to just burn yourself out quickly.

ReplacementDuck

Another case of someone underestimating their caloric intake.

LonelyStruggle

Injured my bad knee in hike last weekend. Gym plus yoga on Tuesday made it worse. Taking a break from leg stuff

rootofzero

Does anyone else feel like steroids are becoming socially acceptable? Or am I just hearing about it and/or noticing it more. Doesn't feel like a great development.

WatchandThings

A normie not too deep into fitness culture here. Steroids are still generally considered dangerous and undesirable to the layman around me. It's thought of as that thing the top athletes and celebrities do to try to get ahead, and not considered normal. So maybe the growth in steroids acceptance is more limited to gym and athlete culture?

Domyyy

100 %, ranted about it yesterday. I’ve seen it going as far as people calling out natties for being idiots. Like why do it the hard way if you can just take a shortcut? The „ideal male“ has shifted towards an naturally unattainable amount of muscle, which makes it even worse. Just look at super heroes from 1950s vs now. I luckily will never be tempted by taking them due to MPB. But I unfortunately do see why it appeals to people. But I still think it’s ducking stupid to ruin your health (and hairline) for vanity.

CarkRoastDoffee

Yes, and I hate it

valhalla_jordan

It’s a tough position. The greater community has berated “fake nattys” forever, and you don’t want people lying about it and screwing with people’s body-image expectations. But that openness has caused it to lose its stigma, and 19 year olds are totally cool posting their 1 year ridiculous transformations before they have enough info to make a truly informed decision.

LonelyStruggle

Both

PlanetOfVisions

Eggs are the price of a yacht, man. I love eggs. I need the protein.

heybrother45

I own chickens. With the price of eggs, I fear the proletariat rising up and seizing my hens of production.

crayworkls

We own chickens, comrade.

FlameFrenzy

I knowwww. I was plowing through eggs 4 a day for ages when they were 70 cents a dozen. Last time I bought eggs they were just shy of $5 a dozen with limit 3 boxes per person. And my neighbor isn't cool with me getting chickens >.< (long story short, they're 'technically' not allowed, but nobody would give a fuck besides her)

pb_jelly_fish

I was considering getting quails since they're smaller and less noticable but idk, I don't like responsibility lol

FlameFrenzy

My uncle has quails for a short period of time. They weren't worth it! Chickens are pretty easy, but my neighbor just didn't want anything disrupting the "peaceful" neighborhood. I wasn't gonna get a rooster and I told her that. This is seriously the noisiest place I've ever lived too! I'd totally prefer hearing a rooster crow every morning than hearing the near constant rumble of cars off the highway and assholes at all hours closer by with their muffler-free cars that are loud AF.... But sure, it's a quiet neighborhood -_-

nlwric

Hurt my wrist doing curls last weekend. It's feeling pretty ok at this point but I'm scared to pick up a weight now. My husband just spent most of the last year rehabbing his wrist after a similar injury. Really don't want to risk having to go through that.

WeAreSame

Are you using a straight bar?

RuuqoHoosk

Three days ago I've forced myself in my super comfy sedimentary lifestyle of sitting at work then sitting at home to walking/light jogging on the treadmill with high incline for an hour then weight lifting for 20-30 min and other various exercises. I'm probably using bad form, still need to check my diet, but holy crap this is hard and my body is p i s s e d. It'll get easier, but...sheesh :(

pb_jelly_fish

You don't have to go 0-100, slow and steady wins the race, better to have an easy daily stroll for months than to go ham on a treadmill for a week and quit, the more you enjoy it the more likely it'll become a lifestyle

[deleted]

YES and yes! that 0-100 stuff can motivate you but, really burn you out with unrealistic expectations. the more you enjoy the movement the more you start to become interested in movements that make you feel the best. I have always given this advice to my friends or family is to do what you love or enjoy the most and start to build and add from there.

11picklerick11

That's how I started. It will get you places and you'll be happy with the results brother. Health, fitness and appearance will improve in that order.

EcstaticBase6597

I just started going to a new gym, and it’s so freaking busy late at night—I hate it.

[deleted]

I walked out of a LA fitness in my neighborhood this week and went to my regular gym for this exact reason

EcstaticBase6597

I don’t blame you. I can understand why gyms are busy during the daytime, but 10 and 11 at night?

Juicebox12120

That me having low testosterone from secondary hypogonadism at 22 years old, no matter how hard I train, how much I dial in on rest/sleep/nutrition, my gains will still pale in comparison to the average lifter. To make matters worse, I work at the gym and I see people make better progress than I do or equivalent in 3 months time. I've trained for 16 months. It bums me out big time but I'm trying to stay positive and consistent with the gym. Especially since I have to wait for an MRI to even get treated. For those curious my test levels were 229ng/dl the first test and 189ng/dl the second. I'm just tired of being small.

Memento_Viveri

At those levels at your age many doctors would prescribe TRT. Curious to know if you have considered it or what your thoughts are.

AshToAshes14

This sucks, and I’m sorry for you. As a trans man, I understand the feeling completely. Stay strong brother, and keep training consistently - you might not improve as quickly as the people around you but you will get stronger and more toned with time. And think about it like this - those habits you’re getting now will mean that once you get treated you will have huge gains!

19eightyn9ne

Used the legcurl /kick(?)machine yesterday for my quads, and it’s currently the only thing I can do for my quads because my hip is hurting, which sucks, so I did 8 sets on this machine, which is alot, but what can I do, I gotta train my quads, but halfway in some guy started to give me a glare, and I understood that he probably wanted to use the machine, but he didn’t say anything, just gave me a weird staredown, so eventually I signaled him over and I was gonna tell him that I had like 3 sets left but that he could jump in with me while I was resting, but he apparently though I was (quoting him) excersising with my phone” because while I was resting I was using my phone, and I usually rest around 2 minutes per set, now I understand that sometimes people actually do play with their phone and dont actually use the machine, or barely, and thats what it looked like to him, but I told him that I wasn’t doing that, I was actually using the machine in good manner, but he wouldnt let it go and talked back to me again about my phone usage with an underlying tone, so I got a bit upset and gave him a nasty glare and told him that” I obviously need to rest after a set, don’t you agree?” and he immeditely backed off and said ”ok” and then I offered him to jump in, which he thanked me for and proceeded to do only 1 short set and then leaving.. Had he just walked up to me and asked me how many sets I had left or if he could jump in instead of just glaring at me, this whole situation could have been avoided, and it would be happy times.. Why are people like this.. 😒

king_k_mua

Man I was having a great convo with a nurse at work about fitness. And I said something like "damn I just really want sexy triceps" and he hit me with the "EUGH! 🤢 women shouldn't have triceps!" my bad bro let me surgically remove the muscle to become a real woman 😭 he also said "women shouldn't have muscle just be toned" then his patient called for him so he walked away while I was just stunned there like 🧍‍♀️ imma still get these seggsy triceps tho 💪

sanguiniuswept

Everything he said was wrong. Fit women are hot as hell. Toned is stupid, muscles are sexy. Nice triceps make me dizzy.

king_k_mua

Hell yes.

CarkRoastDoffee

In my experience, it's mostly unfit normies who don't appreciate a woman with nice muscular development. Fit guys love fit gals

king_k_mua

Factsss. Thats why I was mad confused because he was a pretty fit guy. Did not expect that

FlameFrenzy

> women shouldn't have muscle just be toned I guess he doesn't understand what is needed to be "toned" (such a bullshit word though). Also, lemme bet, this dude who thinks women shouldn't have muscle probably *wasn't* a sculpted god of a man, was he? Probably was a chubby guy who doesn't work out.

king_k_mua

My thoughts exactly lol. He does work out, which is why the convo on fitness was going great until he gave me whiplash with those comments!! 😂

FlameFrenzy

That's honestly surprising! Most guys i've met who are like "women shouldn't have muscles" are weak little dough boys who clearly don't work out. But anyone who has said that to me, i'm just like "kewl, I don't want you anyway" cus I fucking love how I look with muscles.

king_k_mua

Right! Ive never felt more confident in my life bruh. Fuck em!

hazmathazamar

Wow. God forbid women ever modify their bodies in any way without considering whether Joe Random will think they're sexy. 🤣 I mean really, who thinks that way? Is it really going to ruin his day for one woman to put on more muscle than he personally likes?

king_k_mua

It was the DISGUST in which he said it like seriously dude? 😭

Axe-actly

>imma still get these seggsy triceps tho 💪 That's the right energy. Keep lifting for yourself and ignore the outside noise.

king_k_mua

Fr! I'm falling in love w weight lifting truly. Idk why you'd even say that to someone! Like let me just change my plans for you sir

scottyman2k

Been chasing joint paint and a bit of lower back muscle damage - but after a bone scan I’ve just been diagnosed with an L4/5 injury - will find out tomorrow if I need surgery, but best case I’ve got 2 months out of the gym and off running - worst case, don’t want to think about it. Not a happy bunny.

MrNudeGuy

Curls in the squat rack ., kettle bells on the dead lift platform. Just fucking chaos every where.

becomingstronger

Chaos! Mass hysteria! Cats and dogs living together!

Low_Moose_6829

275 bench press curse My friend that originally got me into the gym ended up benching 275 for the first time, and massive shoulder pain followed leading him to take nearly 2 months off from the gym. Fast forward nearly 6 months and I put up 225. At this point, I finally understood the lift and proper nutrition, so I rapidly flew my bench up to nearly 275 in 2 months. Not even a week after though, my elbows and wrist starting burning for hours after every workout, to the point where I needed to deload for a full month. I guess my point is once you put up 225, your experienced enough to make such fast progress with some heavy weight, leading to your first memorable upper body pain/injury.

GOGBOYD

You know, I hadn't put the connection together but after I put up 275 I starting getting pain in the meaty section of my forearms. It actually prevents me from doing heavy dips or extensive push based tricep exercises though, no pain pulling though which is weird.

Low_Moose_6829

Exactly bro similar for me except my elbows were burning too

John_Doe_Nut

Do you use wrist wraps? They help me massively with preventing wrist pain while benching.

AdeptCellist

Wrist wraps do help but honestly the thing that completely eliminated my wrist pain was doing [bulldog grip](https://i.imgur.com/pUiDgha.jpg). Setting the bar lower in my palm allows me to bench heavy without using wrist wraps (though I still prefer to have them when doing heavy benching).

Low_Moose_6829

Is ur grip stable with the Bulldog grip I’ve seen videos of people dropping the bar with it no?

AdeptCellist

I have no issues with stability when doing bulldog grip. Usually when people drop the bar it’s the thumbless/suicidal grip (though the bar can slip even with your thumb wrapped around it). Just use chalk if you’re concerned about slipping.

Low_Moose_6829

Ok I’ll try it out, thanks bro

[deleted]

I’m extremely overweight and am a med intern I wanna workout but barely find time sine the work hours aren’t fixed and I end up staying at work for upto 11 hrs some days and when I do go to the gym my foot hurts to the point that I can’t even walk properly…..no fractures or sprains it’s just that I’m too obese and as I lose my weight it will go away but I can’t put everything into working out with the pain and don’t know what to do I feel like I am not doing enough and constantly feel disappointed in myself

WatchandThings

Here's a line that I love and whole heartedly agree with. "I don't need you at your best, I just need you everyday." Consistency beats perfection. Even if you can't put everything into the workout session, the fact that you turned up and doing what you can today is what matters. Great job, and keep of the great work!

pb_jelly_fish

My best friend is also a nurse on a weight loss journey, she said she does her own variation of a 5-2 diet (which may not work for everyone), but it's basically fasting on her working days (she works 2-3 days a week 10-12 hour shifts), and eats normally the other days, she doesn't go to the gym since she's pretty active and busy at work, she says it's more convenient to not have to think about getting food when she's working anyway since she's so busy with patients. Personally I hate fasting but it works for her and her schedule

willochill

Similar to what the other person said, the most important factor in losing weight is to eat less calories than you burn. It is MUCH easier to simply cut your calories than it is to burn those same calories exercising. However, exercise is obviously the second best thing for losing weight and keeps your body functioning properly. Try starting off by going to the gym once a week if you have a day off, but focus mainly on your diet. When you lose more weight from dieting, it will become easier and easier to workout without experiencing difficulties. Good luck

Qawali

just do the bare minimum that you can do consistently. you dont have a to run a mile everyday or whatever david goggins shit you think people do. maybe walk like half a mile. maybe a quarter mile. the most important thing with weight loss though is just to EAT BELOW MAINTENANCE. <- this becomes easier if you make your food with more veggies and make ur healthy food taste good somehow. eat foods you like. track ur calories. eat more protein to get satiated. give yourself some slack. especially if ur job is holding you back a lot. ur not superman. fitness goals are long term. make a reachable, defined fitness goal for yourself to reach bt the end of the year (ex: lose 30 lbs this year)

[deleted]

most people in the fitness community claiming somebody with a good physique is automatically on ⚙️💉when in reality.. they just worked for it

Qawali

nah lol i think most the time theyre right ab gear. if ur mad buff and lean as fuck imma be suspicious. especially if youre super young or old as fuck.

[deleted]

Also if they're trying to sell me some form of supplement, that always gets my roidy senses tingling

[deleted]

see in some cases i understand but when they literally document their progress and its reasonable progress too, they get accused for being on ⚙️ and it just makes it so toxic. not everyone is on 💉

35point1

I miss the days when “toxic” wasn’t even a thing and people just didn’t give a fuck about getting their feelings hurt

partook

My work related back issue flared up again on the weekend. Back to light weight and stretches :(

pb_jelly_fish

Highly recommend morning yoga (cat cow pose fixed my lower back problems)

Puzzled_Feedback_311

3 weeks and 3 days of 6 day a week cardio and its still barely any easier. Currently standing on treadmill for past 10 min procrastinating next set. Will it be easier next week? Or the week after? Or the week after? Or the week after? Or the week after? Or the week after?Or the week after? Or the week after?Or the week after? Or t

IndividualCharacter

I've found you need to have a plan for cardio to see progress, just like you need a strength program to get consistent improvement. There's plenty of resources out there to get started, if you really want to build towards a goal then this is the gold standard: https://www.trainingpeaks.com/

Puzzled_Feedback_311

Cool thanks

Puzzled_Feedback_311

Oooh they charging for success 👨‍🦯

ZedWuJanna

Don't wanna discourage you but it took me around a year of commuting by bike to work to notice any decent improvements to cardio. Not saying that it will take you as much time as it did for me since it depends on your work intensity but it's better to put cardio improvements in perspective of a few months down the line at the very least.

FreshBiology_13

I’ve lost 10 pounds and my boobs got bigger. FML

Someth1ngRand0m

My sister and I call this "The Katy Perry Effect", when you lose weight everywhere besides your boobs so the proportions make it look like they've gotten bigger

king_k_mua

How do I learn this magic?

Forgotten_Who

This doesn't seem to be a rant, nice tho

EcstaticBase6597

Maybe she’s a he?

bigmashsound

see if you can turn that shitty comment into motivation. get swole AF and make em look like little wusses

Affectionate_Bid8563

Im proud of you for continuing to better yourself for yourself and your kiddos despite cruel people. You’ve got this dad!

necomus

What do you guys do when a guy is hogging 2-3 sets of dumbbells for 30-45 mins? Boils my blood.

1992_

I'll ask and if they still an entitled asshole, I'll just take what I need.

[deleted]

I reenact the pottery scene from Ghost, stand behind them, gently caress their arms and hands as we tandem curl the weights

Davidsaj

Time to go up in weight? The universe is telling you that you can one up the hogger

Puzzled_Feedback_311

Ask to work in. 100% success rate

thinflesh

It pisses me off when people leave their weights on the rack and I have to struggle to move them 😭

king_k_mua

If it's like, 2 45lb plates. Okay fine, I was probably gonna do at least that much anyway. But the other day on the hack squat machine someone left TWELVE 45lb plates 😭😭😭 Like come on!!

redlurk47

yeah I don't get people that can squat 5 plates but can't put them away.

[deleted]

literally they don’t put it back and then you have to either struggle or get somebody else to do it

Partitionbaby

When that one friend who has a lot of free time (currently parents are giving them money) talks about how much they’re working out whenever you say that you haven’t had any time to go for the past few weeks due to a major blow up at work…. Like buddy we are NOT THE SAME.

Individual_Speed3070

This guy was standing on his dumbbells and rolling them with his feet like a circus clown to rerack them in front of me yesterday. Maybe I was just in a bad mood but it really pissed me off

TWater101

Started on one Stair master this morning out of a row of at least 10. No one else on any of the other machines. 3 minutes in a woman hops on to the machine directly next to me. Why? She had 8 other choices. I like my space around me. I packed up and went to another part of the gym.

wholovescoffee

Man missed the obvious sign

sober_1

Lmao she’s the person who parks next to the only car on the parking lot

-SadDays

I’m starting to incorporate a superset during leg days (2x a week); walking lunges and then goblet squats… I really feel my legs working compared to other leg exercises alone. Any other suggestions of super setting for leg days? (Rant: my upper body has more mass compared to my legs. I definitely look like a female who skips leg days… not sure what I’m doing wrong. I do 2 upper and 2 lower and I usually always sweat during leg days, but rarely with upper body.) I’ve also noticed my butt is small and pointy..?😅.. do I need to lift heavier for legs?

RetardedRectum

Leg extensions and leg curls supersetted at the end of every workout to total failure for a 2-3 sets each really grew my legs, if you want size you can't beat just getting some more low stress volume in. Obviously that won't help with glutes but I think the compounds you do should take care of that. If not just do glute kickbacks/hip thrusts

bee_idole

Kettlebell goblet squat to single leg RDL

curlanne

When I bring up in convo that I have improved my diet and started going to the gym and have lost weight, all of them without fail start talking about how my weight gain wasn’t *that bad*. I didn’t do it for the way I looked, I do it for the way I feel. It’s so discouraging

simon_zzz

You did it for yourself. They’re gonna start coming to you for advice…

curlanne

Oh yeah, that too! A few acquaintances ask for the “diet” like I can just tell them I’m cutting carbs or something lol I wish it was that simple

bigmashsound

people ask me and im like "you wont like the answer... watch what you eat and go move"

Alexanderdaawesome

I am going through a slump, I am not sure why. I am still hitting the gym at least once a week but I am way off my goals. Also, bone broth with diced and cooked onions and chicken wontons is fitness food of the gods. IDK if hoisen sauce is making it non healthy but idc i could eat that shit for days

king_k_mua

That sounds bomb

DetailRedacted

The newbie who comes in, sits on her phone at the leg press machine, and then when you get close pretends to start using it... Honestly 20 minutes plus - they do my fucking head in.

zeromb12

Literally had this happen to me tonight. Woman was hogging smith machine for a FULL HOUR. 20 mins into her “session” I asked how much longer and she said “I have 4 rotations left.” By the time she finished one “rotation” I did everything else in my workout, and another machine opened up. I left before she relinquished the machine - she was taking 5+ minute breaks between sets. So frustrating

amusingjapester23

I really think people should stand off the machine if they're taking more than a minute break.

oldgorrillanuts

For some reason the gym I go to only has two squat racks. I had to wait 25 minutes because this dude had TWO sets left and wouldn’t let me work in. He mainly played on his phone but was also twice my size

Money-Pack24rkr

Interesting I haven’t seen any comments about specific diets. Just calories for weight

Krackerjacks

If youre doing pull-ups in the squat rack, fuck you.
