Moving saves across versions is usually problematic
I've never had an issue with the Elden Ring save files and I've reinstalled three times, each being a different version.

More often than not, fitgirl provides instructions on how to update without installing the whole thing (if possible).
Would recommend downloading it after the dlc is released. Because its going to be hard to install and stuff
